Our French isn't that great, but
over at JeuxVideo, they seem to say something about an exclusive reveal of
Motorstorm 2 happening soon. How soon? Wednesday. The reveal is most likely a video, since that appears to be the draw to the site itself. What'll it show? Just some pre-rendered footage? A slideshow of cars and proposed tracks? Gameplay of a game that will surprise us at just how far along it is? It's a mystery to us, but Wednesday is sounding like an exciting day.

How could this game be any different from the first one?
Meximan @ Mar 1st 2008 1:30PM
Better graphics, better controling, better gameplay, different tracks, new/better/more cars, split screen... among other things. These could all potentially make the sequel better but the only thing that is certain as of now are different tracks (island landscape), and split screen multiplayer.
disguy @ Mar 1st 2008 1:55PM
does that actually matter these days?
P @ Mar 1st 2008 6:58PM
Its just like most Genres isnt it, you dont get many people complaining about the latest WW2 style FPS, whats so different? Someone else going to win this time round? Going to re-write history just a little bit more for your own ego boosting?
Truth is, the people who like that sort of game will keep on buying those sorts of games, because... its what they like.
With historicly accurate FPS games ive played through the same historic scenario's in different games, with sports, you play the same team/people looking barely any different to previous versions, in racing games you often have the same tracks and near identical cars from the year before...
Motorstorm wasnt a great game IMO, it lacked significantly different scenery/locations (fixed) no 2 player for mates (fixed) and wasnt as interactive as most would have hoped (fixed) so they're improving upon the formula, and im sure plenty of people will love it.
Jeebus @ Mar 7th 2008 3:15PM
Nobody mentioned REPLAY. I would love to replay a full game. Besides split screen, replay is my most missed feature in Motorstorm 1.
Kabapu @ Mar 1st 2008 1:27PM
I've only played the demo for the first one ... meh (at least ... I think I have ... there was a demo wasn't there?). Maybe I'll enjoy the second better.
thenextbigthing1 @ Mar 1st 2008 1:28PM
The same way , Colin McCrae rally is the same . . . .and Fifa is the same.
It will feature new gameplay, maps and options. Simple really, and I LOVE the idea of a tropical island
sibbor @ Mar 1st 2008 1:36PM
Splitscreen addition will make Motorstorm 2 rock :-)! I like the first game to 80-85%.
Faster menus, new cars, ner tracks, more paintjobs and perhaps buyable upgrades would make me happy - and ofcourse full integration with all the Home features - like accomplishments and so on.
djntmoney @ Mar 1st 2008 1:54PM
I think this is awesome!!! Hopefully they show off the splitscreen. My sis and I enjoyed Motorstorm but were bummed by the lack of splitscreen. Motorstorm 2 FTW!!!
waliwali @ Mar 1st 2008 2:03PM
as much as i am excited about this news, i doubt it'll be in game video. almost all the trailers for upcoming games are pre-rendered movie scene. at most, a split second gameplay tease. it's typical really.
i think they need to extend the game further. split screen is the best thing they adopted. the only reason why i didnt buy motorstorm one too! but they should consider customizability, sure u may say it's unfitting for an arcade style racer but it gives more personal attachment to ur car. or a downlable pack mod. imagine motorstorm with arsenal mods! or some other cool mods, rather than just new cars and paint jobs. and since it's a mod, ppl have a choice. u listening evolution studios?????
Ty @ Mar 1st 2008 2:17PM
I found motorstorm to be one of if not the most frustrating game I ever played. I have no interest in party two.
Andy @ Mar 1st 2008 2:57PM
Really?
Compared to other racing games like NFS and Gran Turismo, the cars are easy to control. The only racing game that is easier to control is Burnout.
-----------------------------------------
Personally I would have prefred Motorstorm to be either
a) in some arctic mountain range
b) in the ocean and canals for a boat racing game. From jetskis to cruise ships. That would be wicked awesome.
But a tropical location will really allow me to show off my tv. After a while, there are only so many hues of brown.
Pete @ Mar 1st 2008 3:15PM
Completely agreed. Very frustrating. The game starts off VERY hard. And there seems to be very little reward for completing a ticket.
On top of this, why the hell does each car explode the moment it ends up on its roof? Even if it would have continued to roll and end up on its wheels eventually, the car just explodes when it ends up on its roof. Very frustrating.
Ty @ Mar 2nd 2008 1:42PM
@Andy
That was my biggest problem with the game, the cars are way too hard to control. I didn't mind having to fight the terrain and the other racers but sometimes I would be in a straight line and I would be struggling to keep the car upright. They made the cars too hard to control and couple that with the terrain and AI that sometimes doesn't race but is there only to get in your way I found it very frustrating.
TinyTim121 @ Mar 1st 2008 2:49PM
Sweet!
Split screen, customisation, more tracks, more cars, accompishments, Home integration and custom soundtrack is on my wish list!
I'd also love a track maker in the game, that would be awesome! But i'm probably being unrealistic lol
I would like wednesdays video to show off some of the enw stuff in the game.
Oh and i would LOVE better crashes! Watching your vehicle explode in the first game was amazing! And the fact you could pause and see all around your vehicle! Infact, why not pause and take a snapshot to save on your PS3 Hard drive?
Mr.ESC @ Mar 1st 2008 3:14PM
I would like to see a demo soon.
I hate racing games because they require that level of dedication someone with a full time job can’t accomplish. I rather play Generic FPS the revenge of mediocrity where is just Gun and run.
Groundskeeper Willie @ Mar 1st 2008 6:36PM
Motorstorm 2 + GT5 Prologue + Wipeout HD = PS3 domination of the racing genre in 2008.
Iddy @ Mar 1st 2008 6:46PM
"In exclusiveness on jeuxvideo.com, you will have right as of this Wednesday March 5 to total on the next set of races developed by Evolution Studios and published by Sony, I named Motorstorm 2. You will know his exact title, its contents, and you will be able to even view very first the video of the play. Appointment thus Wednesday at 7 p.m."
roughly what is says on juexvideo.
mccomber @ Mar 1st 2008 8:56PM
I really enjoyed the first one; it was one of the few racing games where being in the middle of the pack was more enjoyable than leading it. I also liked the whole mix of vehicles in the same races, the multiple paths through each course, and the general nature of the game. I'll admit I prefer an arcade racer to a simulation myself, and Motorstorm delivered on most of the things I was hoping for.
Looking forward to seeing what the sequel brings us, but at this point I'm sure it will be a day-one purchase for me.
a.j. @ Mar 1st 2008 11:42PM
"waahhh...i didn't like the demo, i thought the game was too hard, how can you possibly make the game any different?"....i'll never understand people who don't have any interest in something, clicking on a story about it just to tell everyone how they're not interested. here's an idea..go play the games you DO like. no seriously. go.
Vectorsword @ Mar 2nd 2008 6:42PM
LOL I completely agree. "whaaa-haa-haa! My pussy hurts!" GTFO whining.
a.j. @ Mar 2nd 2008 9:35PM
lol..exactly.
tagout @ Mar 1st 2008 11:53PM
Can't wait.

I'm not sure if this is the place for this, but I figured I 'd voice my opinion here anyway. I've been coming to ps3fanboy for a little while now to get some quick news on the ps3 without having to sort through a bunch extra fodder that most other blog sites post.
For the last month I've decided to start checking out the 360fanboy site (mostly because I noticed so many of them post over here). During this time I've noticed a pretty bad trend. It seems that most of the time 360fanboy has a lot more blog posts than ps3fanboy. Now normally you would think that the reason would be that there is a lot more going on over at the 360 side, but this isn't the case a lot of the time. A great many posts are news on games that are coming out for ps3 as well. I'm writing this in hopes that someone could explain to me the process involved in deciding what multiplatform game news goes to ps3fanboy and what news goes to 360fanboy.
As an example of what I'm talking about please refer to todays posts. Ps3fanboy gets 1 post, while 360fanboy gets 11. Out of those 11, five of the games are also coming out on ps3 (with the blog posts giving relevent news that could apply to ps3 users as well). Now if I'm just talking out of my A-hole please forgive me, but on more than this occasion I've noticed this trend. Thanks for listening.

For people who actually have "real friends" in RL yes split screen does matter.

If anybody comes to this thread looking for more info:
JeuxVideo now has a page up saying that Sony decided at the last minute to postpone the release of the video until next Wednesday. They say the video will be up at 7 P.M. on March 12.
