Five Army of Two videos to get your blood pumping
So Army of Two is already out in stores. Haven't picked it up yet? Perhaps these five videos can persuade you otherwise, and get you into the mood for blowing stuff up. Just remember though, make sure you play with a buddy. Why? As if "Army of Two" wasn't enough of a hint.
In the videos, you'll get to see the skull-masked duo tear it up merc-stlye on a train, on the highway, in the jungle, or just about anywhere these vagrants are getting paid to go to. The co-op gameplay is a welcomed spin on the usual shooter experience, and we can't say we don't love all the funny remarks shared between these two characters. Check out the rest of the clips right after the break.

I refuse to buy this game because they way EA treats us with this game. Only 7 hrs and 4 maps online and the rest in DLC as soon as the game is out. Yeah right, you ain't charging me for half the content that the game should have had but on which some twats decided they could milk us gamers like we're some bunch of ignorant cows.
Kevin @ Mar 5th 2008 6:31PM
Well I just thought that the muzzle flash on those weps in the 1st vid was just downright disgraceful.
The others were way better cause they were videos not in game action.
JAH75157 @ Mar 5th 2008 6:44PM
i want this game to be good so bad.
Popfrogs @ Mar 5th 2008 6:54PM
This game worries me for a few reasons.
1. It's coming from EA.
2. It disappeared for so long now all of a sudden it's in stores and there are videos galore.
3. No demo.
4. Short on content but promises DLC.
Justin @ Mar 5th 2008 7:15PM
I bought it.
Its extremely surprising. Very playable.
Can't comment on the length yet, but there's PLENTY upgradable weapons, you collect money throughout the game.
The co-op is top notch (a la Gears of War) in where you can start a campaign, invite your friend (with in-game friends list), play as many missions as you like w/ mic support you guys can strategize on-the-fly (and it also supports my Dualshock 3), he logs off, you keep playing no problems. Upgrade weapons/ gear in-between matches if you like or wait.
The CGI cutscenes are top-quality and the storyline so far is very cool.
The six-axis use is very subtle (controlling your player in mid-air during a parachute jump) and the ally AI is nice too.
The features they allow you to use are exciting and original.
Haven't tried the split-screen campaign yet, OR the online versus, but the options are all there.
I was VERY hesitant in buying this for the reasons Popfrogs mentioned..._especially_ coming from EA...but after about 5 reviews of 8+, i said what the hell...I might as well.
And so far, i'm very pleased.
Popfrogs @ Mar 5th 2008 7:58PM
Thanks for the mini-review. I'll wait for the ps3fanboy verdict. :)

I'm getting mine in the mail on Friday (just in time for spring break). Thanks for the review. I feel better about my purchase now.

No prob guys
John @ Mar 5th 2008 8:49PM
Looks mostly good graphically, though the muzzle flashes, as pointed out, look ridiculous. My problem with this is that it's propaganda by that wealthy 5% to turn the kids into fighting for fascists. Still... looks pretty fun.
xrich @ Mar 5th 2008 9:11PM
this is game is propaganda to turn kids into fascist soldiers?!?!? uh-huh.
Kevin @ Mar 5th 2008 9:31PM
I think Army of Two is not really propoganda but the most generic title in the gaming world.
As someone stated before Sixaxis controls while parachuting:
Ratchet and Clank TOD
Online player co op
Haze or Gears of War (in some aspects)
Customization
COD4
Maneuvers
Gears of War
Meh I might get the game.
But Haze, MGS4, and Little Big Planet are the top of my list
Popfrogs @ Mar 5th 2008 9:34PM
@xrich: yeah it kinda is. Ever since GI Joe was invented as a subsidized propaganda tool we've gotten stuff like this. Interestingly enough, MGS4 is the antithesis of this game. It heavily criticizes PMCs like Blackwater and other mercenary companies.

My roommate coming in May won't let me buy this game UNTIL May so that he can play it along with me.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan. I want this game quite badly. lol.
cycopl @ Mar 5th 2008 10:06PM
Bought it today. Played the single player for about 3 hours, and one multiplayer match before I had to go to work. The single player is really solid. The partner AI isn't incredibly stupid, it actually works really well once you figure out how the AI responds to your commands. Story's pretty campy--feels like a Bruckheimer movie turned into a video game--but that doesn't really take away from the gameplay.
The online was really fun from what I played, but the game ended prematurely when someone quit. Then I had to go to work :(. I'll play more tonight, my PSN id is "cycopl" for anybody who wants to play some laid back co-op (I'm still learning the game, I can't stand playing with people who take the game too seriously and yell and scream when you're not perfect at the game)
wauktownzown @ Mar 5th 2008 11:43PM
forget this game i got it today..me and my friend beat it in one sitting..im going to gamestop tomorrow..gots to get me some store credit!..its meh all in all
Consolcwby @ Mar 5th 2008 11:50PM
I'm still 'meh' on this game, though the vids do look interesting. I'm just more psyched up for Mercenaries than I am for this...

my friend just bought this game this afternoon and me and him just beat the co-op campaign mode a couple hours ago. it only took about 7 hours.
to be honest, after all the delays, i didnt have high hopes for it, especially with IGN saying it was downright unplayable before the delay. but i was pleasantly surprised since this game was damned fun. i cant remember the last time i had so much fun with a shooting game. the teamwork is neccessary and well implemented. lots of gun and mask customization for you customization nuts (you can even "pimp" your gun and get it gold plated). it was perfect for me and him cause it offers you the ability to have one player be stealth and the other one run & gun. im a run and gun man myself, so while he hid behind boxes picking people off with his blind fire and gettin his aggro meter up, i was running around meleeing the unsuspecting enemies and dealing deadly headshots. working together in the beginning isnt really required but at the end of the game, if you dont work together, your going to die. good story, overall decent game.
it did have some blarring glitches though which i will try to explain without spoilers. in about the 5th to last level of the game, the generally smooth framerate came to a screeching halt and changes in the weapons menu wouldnt take and armor would switch itself, leaving you in the later part of the game with light armor and ineffective weapons. at some parts the colors would get output wrong and your enemies would appear damn near invisible when using your GPS to find out where your supposed to be going. the glitches lasted for about 3 levels and then it straightened back up. the voice acting can get a little corny at times too.
all in all, it was a pretty good experience. i'd give it a 8, so it's definitely a good rental at least if you have some friends coming over.
elephant_stone @ Mar 6th 2008 1:32AM
Not gonna bother with this game....seems like every other game I have played recently tbh.
Mentality @ Mar 6th 2008 6:17AM
All videos are dead
tatoosx @ Mar 6th 2008 9:06AM
I just get this one yesterday.
1 Graphics: Nothing to complain. great graphics
2 It is fun the way you interact with your partner.
3 You can buy and customize weapons inventory.
4 Team work is a must.
5 Online complete fun
russell @ Mar 6th 2008 12:01PM
this game for a big fat fucking FAIL. third person shooters are washed up and pathetic. mechanics look like every other TPS. nothing innovative, hardly taking advantage of the co-op play and the style just looks like crap. not to mention the stuff about the DLC. highly doubt i'll ever even play this game.
