Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, available in retail stores and on the PLAYSTATION Store, next month, is gaining a few new exciting features for its upcoming US release. North American consumers will enjoy features, such as Drift Mode, Car Tuning, and most excitingly, two-player split screen racing and a new set of offline and online Race Events.

- In Depth Car Tuning -- Players have the ability to adjust the vehicle's performance, including power, weight, tires and suspension.
- Two-player Split Screen Racing -- Allows players to race head-to-head against friends and foes offline.

And yet people still keep referring to GT5 Prologue as a "Demo"...
Chris Rah Osiris @ Mar 6th 2008 10:03AM
Well if they want to miss out on this, that is their loss
deaftly @ Mar 7th 2008 5:34PM
Lets see....it has *some* tracks and cars from the full game thats coming out later. Yes i would call that a demo of the final game and for $40, its a quick cash grabbing joke.
Glen @ Mar 6th 2008 10:05AM
Dammit. I imported this from Japan thinking it wasn't coming out in the U.S. When I learned it was I didn't consider re-buying it because English isn't worth $40. But with these new features, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and support Polyphony here in the states.
Kyrre @ Mar 6th 2008 11:42AM
Japanese version will gain all these features through a software update. Np need to rebuy.
Jove @ Mar 6th 2008 2:52PM
i know u can get the japanese version but do u have to know japanese? how is it when u get the japanese version? is it in english? some parts? care to explain it to me?
Glen @ Mar 6th 2008 4:55PM
Good to know the Japanese version will get patched. Thanks for telling me.
As far as need to know Japanese goes, I don't know any, and I don't have much problems. If you've ever played a GT game before, you should be able to navigate the menus just fine.
All the car names and everything are in Japanese, so it can be kind of hard to figure out which cars qualify for which races.
If you don't want to have to deal with all that, just wait for the U.S. version.

this game is gonna look so badass. graphics cant get any better.

Reminds me of the time that Bill Gates said "Nobody will ever need more than 64K of RAM."

it reminds me of when bill gates said people dont need 25 gigs in a cd. lolz
oooh @ Mar 6th 2008 10:17AM
I wasn't really considering buying this but the split screen is making me reconsider...
sparc @ Mar 6th 2008 10:17AM
the european release will be the same? we don't get it that much earlier for these features to be not included.
sibbor @ Mar 6th 2008 10:39AM
Makes me wonder too. Otherwise I'll just buy it from the US (US PSN Store perhaps).
benny boy @ Mar 6th 2008 11:42AM
Can someone clarify if this is just for the Americans or will Europe be getting these features as well? It would be a bit annoying if Europe get shafted once again - especially as the EU version will more than likely cost near twice as much as the US one.
glacier985 @ Mar 6th 2008 10:23AM
omgwtf???? Ferrari F40, can't wait to test it out. April 17th cannot come soon enough.

Hahaha, awesome, they have my G35 sedan in here!

I was on the fence about this until now :D
HAAS599 @ Mar 6th 2008 10:44AM
I have the imported version and I'm hoping they update it with the new vehicles and tracks before the U.S. version comes out.
I'll still be buying the english version anyway.
Thank You PD!!!
The Aggie CEO @ Mar 6th 2008 11:00AM
so umm yea......
Gamefly???
and I'll prolly hold onto it until GT5 comes out......lol
not gonna pay $40 for this.........
unless it could be traded in for $40 toward GT5...hell I'd settle for $30......lol
The Chord @ Mar 6th 2008 11:02AM
What the hell dude! I bought the JPN version! this sucks. Guess im gonna have to buy it again
preciousdeath @ Mar 6th 2008 11:06AM
Can someone dig up some pics of the split-screen? I want to know how it will look and if the graphics will take a hit.
Nate @ Mar 6th 2008 11:07AM
Only two player split screen? Sad. I was hoping for 4. Oh well, maybe in the full version?
brettjr @ Mar 6th 2008 11:11AM
Hey Andrew, where's your source for this? You didn't mention.
Andrew Yoon @ Mar 6th 2008 11:55AM
It's a press release.
True_Darknight @ Mar 6th 2008 11:34AM
Ok So damn glad this has split screen. However...

Does the game finally have AI? How is it?
David @ Mar 6th 2008 12:23PM
Has anyone noticed that everyone in the Gran Turismo world is male. There isn't a single female in this batch of screenshots and the GT HD demo didn't have any either. I always joked with my brother that the HD in GT HD stood for "homosexual debauchery". I thought they would fix that with a later release since HD was early and they maybe hadn't created a female model yet but Prologue still seems to have the same problem.
So...why is this? Have anyone of you who have played the game noticed any sort of woman in the crowd?
Galley @ Mar 6th 2008 12:42PM
Where I'm from we call that a "sausage fest".
Andrew Yoon @ Mar 6th 2008 1:13PM
I think we're all supposed to be looking at the cars, not the people. It is a valid point, however.

repost away!
Mark @ Mar 6th 2008 3:57PM
this game has more content than a lot of full racing games. so for anyone saying that $40 isnt worth it you must be crazy. in my opinion buying a new sports game every year for $60 is a bigger waste of money.
deaftly @ Mar 7th 2008 5:25PM
I wouldn't pay more then $10 for this
Osama @ Mar 9th 2008 11:20PM
Doesn't look half bad.
