Home presentation to be given at OGC next friday

Of course, we'll keep our ears to the ground on the 14th so we can detect the tremors of this news when the speech begins. Until then, we'll just dream about what will be said.

Jerses @ Mar 6th 2008 12:41PM
home.... im still waiting for a release date. Please this conference be about a date not just telling people the same thing we know already.
whoelse @ Mar 6th 2008 12:49PM
I so hope they give us a date, "Available early April!!"
kevin @ Mar 6th 2008 12:58PM
how long has it been since it was supposed to come out...a year,2 years...this is not even a game and they take forever to make this i lost all my hope with home already and you should too :(
whoelse @ Mar 6th 2008 1:42PM
Around 6 months ;)
Popfrogs @ Mar 6th 2008 4:35PM
I think you said it all with "this is not even a game". You're right, this is the future of the PSN and it's much more than a game. This thing has to work very well and appeal to everyone. That's a tricky thing to create.
dadanman @ Mar 6th 2008 1:20PM
Please use decent slang or english...geez. Home is much bigger than a game was annouced a little over a year ago. When it gets here it will be great but people will still complain as usual. We don't have games, games are not good enough. Be paitent just like the top teir games we have now it will come.
Jerses @ Mar 6th 2008 1:50PM
What the hell is "paitent".....Please use decent slang or english...geez.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 6th 2008 1:23PM
Sony,
I dont want Mini-2nd Life Light! Give me better online. I dont have time for all this BS. I just have time for gaming. Let me do everything on my PS3 that I can already do on my 360 please. Thanks.
whoelse @ Mar 6th 2008 1:43PM
Hopefully we will see that in the April PSN update.
Cool Paul @ Mar 6th 2008 1:44PM
exactly! who has time for this dressing up nonsense when there are actual games coming out? I don't want to have to boot up home then go into a room and then invite people just to play resistance with them. I just want to start resistance, get a notice that my friends are online and be able to click on their names to get into their game. home seems like such a convoluted way of doing things.
but like OMG those shoes are sooo cute....
is this really the future of gaming?
Jerses @ Mar 6th 2008 2:01PM
Home is about gaming. I like playing resistance and COD4 online but i only have 2 friends irl with ps3. When i play online with them is all fun because we know each other and can keep playing for hours...but when you play with a team you don´t know its boring and they start talking nonsense at the headset... So home is about meeting people to play games later... i dont see that in-game where you can talk about how cool was the game or plan the next strategy. Oh! and Home have mini games to PLAY its not just about dressing your mini-me. And sorry about my english don´t start to flame me about it.
Cool Paul @ Mar 6th 2008 2:29PM
actually your english is quite good. To me it looks like it is destined to fail. They are trying to build an online empire without a strong foundation. In this case the foundation is quality voice chat, and connectivity to friends. I think microsoft is closer to getting their version of home out the door only because they already have the foundation in place, they just need the graphics to go over top.
maybe they'll prove me wrong but you gotta learn to walk before you can run.
agelgamer @ Mar 6th 2008 3:14PM
I think the idea of HOME is pretty cool... however, micro transactions for dressing your avatar and decorating your space? Come on... I don't think PS3 owners are really going to spend real money to pay for virtual clothing.
If you were able to spend your "acheivement points" on virtual items, that would be worth it.
It's an interesting interface to interact with other gamers online and a portal to the PS store among other things.
It'll be interesting to see how many people take advantage of it. As far as gaming is concerned, no matter what the platform, being able to connect to others as quickly and easily as possible has to be the priority. If adding an interface like HOME is going to be a hinderance, I think PS3 owners are going to complain about it.
Otherwise, way to go SONY.
HAAS599 @ Mar 6th 2008 2:31PM
a lot of complainers here, dont forget Home is FREE!!!!
Imbro @ Mar 6th 2008 2:49PM
Home is not really free. It was promised to arrive soon after I bought my ps3 in june. Ergo I consider it part of the deal when I bought the ps3. Just becomes windows comes on almost every laptop, doesn't make it free either.
Cool Paul @ Mar 6th 2008 2:54PM
let me first say I am a huge sony fan. they make the greatest games. I really think that and I do think the PS3 is turning things around but when it comes to home or PSN I just think they are going about it all wrong. I don't care how pretty things look if we can't understand people and connect to each other easily while playing a game than it's all for nothing.
I see that FREE comment thrown around a lot whenever home or PSN is mentioned. But it never makes the quality of PSN any better...it certainly does explain it though.
sm @ Mar 6th 2008 9:28PM
@Imbro
Home was not promised to be released on that date, it was just a prediction date for release
PSheddy @ Mar 6th 2008 2:33PM
So.. according to the OGDC site, it says it's going to be on May 10-11, 2007. I'm confused.
SnipersParadise @ Mar 6th 2008 3:12PM
For something which Sony had talked about during the PS3s launch and still hasnt arrived is pretty stupid, i think I had about enough waiting, all we ever hear is talk and rumors of when its coming, I think I talk for us all, and were tired of waiting, bring it out already.
Khaliel @ Mar 6th 2008 3:20PM
The launch date ALWAYS was "spring 2008". Spring starts the 21st of march and ends the 21st of june. So Home can be launched at any moment during these two dates.
dadanman @ Mar 6th 2008 3:54PM
Sorry about the English snap and the mis-spelling. I just got lost in your post Jeres.
I read where someone said no one would do micro transactions for clothing and such. I have to disagree. I would not spend my hard earned cash to do so but we live in a world where everything is about status. My car is bigger than yours, My house....... I remember watching discovery and seeing where this guys makes 200k a year on selling virtual realistate. Lets face it, everyone wants to show off their achivements by buying them or spending countless hours earning them.
Jerses @ Mar 6th 2008 5:47PM
I do agree with you. Micro trans only works in MMO because even if you pay for the game people brag about they´re lvl99 weapons...so its not bad idea that they put a cost to items.... they have to make money someway. its "free" after all and it will be boring that you could have everything since day one i will gladly buy one of those PSN cards $20 when they come too buy stuff for my free HOME (and spend like 9 dlls in pixeljunk monster)...plus take the example of Second Life!! It works the way it is.
agelgamer. You dont have to start HOME in order too run you´re games. But it gives you the ability to play a game while on HOME.
Vinayak @ Mar 14th 2008 9:20PM
um... isnt March 14th over? And nothing so far.. I wanted some info =(
