Analyst flamethrower attack: PS3 to outsell 360 in March

This back and forth bout between the two "hardcore" gaming consoles will continue, simExchange proposes, with shrinking gaps in sales between them until games with larger online components like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Charlie Salt Lake City Alpha Dog Redux, Army of Two, and others get released because it's assumed that Xbox Live carries more weight with those games. Basically, sales of the consoles are based on software that play to each console's strength. We could've told you that from the start. Check, please!

Say what you want about the game but its actually very fun. It is not without its problems.
1. No standalone melee button
2. Not enough ammunition for special and some primary weapons
3. Lack of multiple grenades (smoke, fire, mines etc)
4. Heavy armor is no different than light armor
5. Back to Back and Co-Op snipe need to be removed
6. Online multiplayer needs 4 vs 4 instead of 2 teams vs 2 teams.
These are all fairly small problems especially considering the game has a much better cover system than Gears of War has. It is far from a perfect game but the co-op gameplay really make it dream for playing Online Multiplayer Campaign mode.
So far I have had more fun playing AO2 than Brawl. And for the record I picked it up for my broke box 360.

Um, PS3 has been outselling the 360 WW for the past few months now. Actually, the 360 hasn't outsold the PS3 since before Christmas 07.
Given the 360's recent price-cut, however, I'd imagine the 360 would regain the upperhand for March and April.
Essentially, I think simExchange has got it backwards.

just a clarification. the price drop for the 360 was for europe. the monthly numbers at thesimexchange are for NPD numbers ie north america.

My bad. The dailygame.net link makes no mention of either the US or NPD.

I wouldn't be suprised to see if happen in Feb. A look across forums, see 360 and HD DVD owners flocking to PS3 now Blu-ray is the victor.

You know what half the problems is? This is what I see when I walk in my local gamestop:
XBOX 360 ONLY $279
[tiny type: xbox 360 pro $349]
And the PS3's advertisement? Umm.... there isn't one. WTF, Sony, can't you friggin' advertise a LITTLE?! Even if someone goes into Gamestop to buy a PS3, they immediately see XBox for $279 vs PS3 for $399. That's a huge difference, and Joe average doesn't know his 360 Arcade is a total gimp machine.
So, if the PS3 does sell more than the 360, it's not Sony's doing. MS shot itself in the foot with the reliability issues, and the PS3's blu-ray drive is really starting to take off. Even for people who have no real idea what it's for, they'll have seen the hundreds of stories about Blu-Ray winning the war, and will assume the PS3 is the way to go.

Sony might also consider standardizing their SKU and making it clear what it can do. Hopefully when Sony figures out full software emulation for PS2 games this will no longer be a problem. I'm just glad that I bought a 60 Gig when I did! It would be confusing for me, who still loves PS2 games, to try to break into the PS3 market right now. Which to buy? The 20? The 40? Etc.

Well, the 360 has just as many versions out there, more really, since they are actively selling the arcade, pro, and elite. The PS3 really just has the 40 and 80 being actively sold. 20s and 60s aren't available outside of eBay as far as I know.
I love my 60gig too... it's nice being compatible with every playstation game ever made (minus the PSP of course.... though that would be a pretty cool feature! Like remote play, but backwards! I'd love to see the PSP become a USB UMD drive for the PS3 and be able to play the games via the PS3 with upscaling. I know the picture would still be small res, but upscaling would at least let it fill the screen (unlike the current component out cables that put a small box in the midst of huge nothingness).

You know that is a great idea. I love playing my PSP but when I am not on the go I would like to play some PSP games on my big screen ( I do not have a slim so not TV out). If they made a USB enabled UMD attachment I would be all over it. I am sure it would canabalize some PSP sales but it would also help move more UMD movies and games.
Great Idea... I wished they included a UMD slot on the PS3 like the memory card slots but your idea is even better because it keeps the cost of the console down

The PS3 has been outselling the X360 everywhere minus N.A. for a few months now. It did achieve this milestone for N.A. in Jan and I see happening for Feb. MS knows it, and they're trying to counter by cutting the price of their cheapest X360 console. I don't think it's going to be enough to tip things in their favor with PS3's hottest titles coming out this year.

Anyone can participate. All that's saying is that people playing the simExchange game think that PS3 will outsell Xbox 360 based on trades executed. No one's claiming anything. Sheesh.

Ok troll... GT5 prologue is not as good as Forza we get it but the only reason is because it is not a full game. The presentation, graphics, car selection, tracks and everything about Gran Turismo is the best racing game EVER. Now you throw in the fact it will have online multiplayer and it may sell around 50% of PS3 owners (not prologue but the full version). I agree prologue is overpriced but it will be cheaper over PSN instead of retail (like warhawk). Prologue will also tide the die hards (me) over until the full version drops and will give a heads up on cars. Besides this is nothing new Polyphonic Digital has done this with many iterations of the GT series. At least prologue has online multiplayer and functions with the PSP.

Did I ever say just 1 game?...johnny took care of what i would have replied with so I wont bother.
Im not all that excited about mgs4 to tell u the truth. Im sure Ill buy it but Resistance 2, Killzone 2, GT5 and GTA4 are looking good 2 me.
And yeah I used to love mario kart for snes...I might get a wii later cuz they have a few cool games...and I've always had a special place in my heart for nintendo.
