Square Enix aiming for simultaneous worldwide releases

Does this include PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII, or the multi-plat Last Remnant? It might. Due to the overwhelming strength of the gaming market outside of Japan, we're seeing a shift in game release ideology. Either this means the US and Europe will get the aforementioned games earlier than expected, or Japan will get them later than anticipated. Who knows -- maybe Square Enix really will start opening up development offices outside of Japan.

So long as they actually start putting games on the shelves......

I'll buy the first English version of FFXIII, Versus XIII and The Last Remnant (if it's any good) released, so if they want to make that easier for me by releasing worldwide the same day (MGS4) or week.. be my guest!
I can't wait for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII so that's getting imported to Europe from the US.

The sooner I can get to play FFXIII the better!

If Konami and KP pull off the MGS4 Simultaneous Worldwide Release and do HUUUUGGE numbers (like I'd expect them to), then I think more companies will shoot for this with their big releases.
Nobody likes to know that another place is playing the game you want.

Statement of the Year, right there.

In a world where the games are region-free, if you launch globally on the same date, you better serve the market and your shareholders. It's alot harder to track sales when people import/export games because a company takes 9 months to translate it into English or any of 15 European languages.

@ bluebreaker & popfrogs
exactly. and thats the way gaming should be.
SOMEBODY needs to set the standard.

Well they did release FFTactics on the PSP same week in both the UK and US and they did mention they wanted to do the same with CCFFVII so I'm gonna wait for the UK release for that assuming its at least the same month...
They really did mess up with FFI and II on the PSP

The Last Remnant was already slated for a simultaneous worldwide release. Has been since the beginning. FF XIII, on the other hand... well, they've certainly got my attention there.
TCampbell76 @ Mar 10th 2008 8:15PM
lol Yeah, the news of the simultaneous release came out almost a year ago with the annoucement of this game and trailer which said at the end "simultaneious worldwide release".
Apparently an editor is having a "Durr" day.

is it me or does Last Remnant look so much more interesting and vivid than Lost Odyssey?
theydidntnameme @ Mar 11th 2008 12:25AM
because lost oddesy was for 360. it didnt even run smooth.
im still hoping for an ff13 demo in last remnant!! thats the only reason i got into it!!

Well that's a damn shame. Because if you've not noticed -aside the later months release- that what we usually get is a more streamlined work. When a game is released in Japan, the company goes back to the program and finesses the rocky mistakes found later and refine the details and for the most part, We get a even better product!
The window between, is that sweat point that will be lost if a simultaneous launch occurs. I'm Not looking for this end result.
