While it might not be much of a deal, Amazon currently has
fresh DualShock 3 controllers listed at $50 (pre-order only, of course). From the looks of the webpage, the deal looks permanent, at least, until pre-orders end (MSRP is $54.99). The Sixaxis has been
cut down to about $44, so we can assume they're trying to create a hierarchy of controllers. A fiefdom, if we may. Anyway, if you're looking for a DualShock 3 pre-order, this is probably good news for you.

I knew I was right to wait before I bought a second SIXAXIS.
BlackBeltJones @ Mar 11th 2008 5:39PM
I've been holding out for this as well.

sean @ Mar 11th 2008 2:02AM
im going to wait for a better deal. i already have 2 sixaxis so dont really need another controller. so ill be waiting for better deal or just wait til MGS4 comes out
ruibing @ Mar 11th 2008 2:45AM
I already have two SIXAXIS, but I need a DS3 for all my PS2 and PS3 games with rumble. I'll get another when the price drops below $40.
Lars @ Mar 11th 2008 4:34PM
You know you can enjoy rumble with PS2 controllers, right? If you're looking to save cash it's much much cheaper to just buy a PS2->PS3 adaptor, as long as you don't mind the PS button not being on the controller. Of course it's not a good option for motion control games though.

Done, and done. Thanks for the tip.

lovely now when are we gona see these in europe?
Stef Geiger @ Mar 11th 2008 8:52AM
Maybe now that the release is so close this means Inifinity Ward will finally patch COD4 with rumble. I mean, come on, it's one of the best-selling AND most actively-played games on the system. Give the near million people who play it some rumble. Seems truly peculiar that they haven't yet considering how they actually support their games pretty well...
Popfrogs @ Mar 12th 2008 11:57AM
IW has proven time and time again that their PS3 gamers are of the lowest priority.
Stef Geiger @ Mar 12th 2008 12:04PM
...Why do you say that? COD4 is essentially identical in every way on both systems, even WRT graphics. Are you basing this on the fact that we get our identical patches a little later than 360 users? Because that seems to be more of a certification issue than anything else. The PS3 patch went to Sony a few DAYS after the 360 patch went out to Microsoft.
I'd say based on the equality of the two versions of COD4 that IW cares more about the PS3 crowd than nearly every other dual-platform developer.

Just buy them from PlayAsia. They're not much more expensive, and instead of having to wait until April, you get it like, later this week.
I bought two from PlayAsia, and they work great.
Dahk @ Mar 11th 2008 9:34AM
Blah I have 4 Sixaxis's lol. (2 from a gift from friends who wanted to play LOL!)
So I'll pick up... 1 DS3 I guess, but it still sucks only having 1 rumbling controller.
... only problem is Amazon.ca doesn't have any -_-.
The Aggie CEO @ Mar 11th 2008 9:41AM
yea.......
I can wait until Black Friday this year......maye they will have them for $25 like the SIXAXIS was $20 last year......
if they do Ima buy 10 and sell 6 on eBay....
Ryan @ Mar 12th 2008 8:54AM
Are they going to be selling the white version in the US, or is Play-Asia the only place to get that?
Lars @ Mar 11th 2008 4:39PM
Probably only black in the US, until about 5 years from now. At least that's how they did it in the past.
I actually much prefer black, but I started realizing the benefit of white controllers.... they're much easier to find! I've got 2 black cordless controllers and often someone will play for a bit then set it down somewhere and I have to search all over because, being black, they don't visually stand out.
I busted out my old gray Dualshock and started using that because it stands out like a sore thumb.
Iain @ Mar 11th 2008 10:58PM
Got my sixaxis $20 each amazon... $30 for rumble? No thx.
But yeah great deal if you need them.
insane1679 @ Mar 12th 2008 12:57AM
i got my 2nd sixaxis for 20 too on amazon. Great deal. But for those who really really wants to get a dualshock 3, go to ur local game store, trade in ur sixaxis now and get a discount on ur ds3. I called gamestop, they take for 10 now, a gamecrazy accepts for 21. But make sure u do it now, becuz i know value goes down eventually. Another thing i want to say is that sony should have a trade-in program. I know they could reuse some parts of old sixaxis onto new ds3. They should say like if u give a store ur sixaxis, buy for 30 or something.
pspgamer29 @ Apr 21st 2008 12:36PM
