Heavy Rain details shake off very little mystery

There won't be a large, free-roaming city like Grand Theft Auto, but there will be "big sets" with crowds: malls, subways, et cetera. The graphics are getting very positive responses from Sony, but Quantic wants to do something else unique with them aside from as photorealistic as possible. Speculations abound. Heavy Rain is going to expand on the new elements of gameplay Fahrenheit introduced.
The story? Well, normal people in extraordinary situations seems to be the key phrase. The story is meant to be personal, focusing on a father's love. The main story revolves around four main characters and their perception of events -- what's right, what's wrong, all the ambiguous morality you could ever want seem to be standard story elements for the game. More details will come whenever the developers decide to talk some more!

The underage reference makes no sense at all.

I liked Quantic Dream's Indigo Prophecy. It was a different type of gaming experience. However it got ridiculous once the Purple Clan/Internet given physical form, got introduced. Despite that, it had some great themes and touched on some interesting game design. I'll likely pick this up.

They've admitted their screw-ups when it comes to Indigo Prophecy (most specifically, the ending) so I'm definitely interested to see how Heavy Rain turns out. Indigo Prophecy was incredibly cool up until it tanked at the end.

i am absolutely fascinated with this trailer and i really dont know why. i know next to nothing about the game, or any other games Quantic Dreams has created for that matter, but i find myself very intrigued by it. from what i saw, i really dont know how it would translate into a game but i like to keep an open mind. what you guys explained in the post sounds more like a Tarintino film than a game. ill still be eagerly awaiting more details though.

The thing Quantic Dream does that's so captivating is their unparalleled ability to capture emotion. Indigo Prophecy and Omikron were both incredible in that regard, but had some serious design and gameplay flaws. They're still one of the most ambitious studios out there, though, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

This game I have a feeling is going to be like WTF when you finally get what its about but its going to be amazing.. there's something bout Quantic Dream that I like.. and that's there ability to push the envelope to something different and I think that's what gaming is all about! I'm looking forward to this!! Hopefully we can get some more info!!

don´t hate me but this game probably be 80% cutscenes, so they can show off the graphics...but the game will probably be like a dating sims...but with drama! they should start showing gameplay because people are all hype about this "game" but i dont see any game yet.
bourne6 @ Mar 12th 2008 4:29PM

bourne6 @ Mar 12th 2008 4:29PM
This reminds me of that movie, where there was a japannese guy, a school girl, a couple lost in afganistan or something. and they all had something in common with eatchother....

Not to sure about Heavy Rain the promotional staff aren't really doing there job there not getting the game out there. I have no idea how they can make a good game about an actor, basically I see a button mashing game or little mini-games were you press the correct button at the right time and we know how much they are a dissapointment
Jerses @ Mar 12th 2008 7:14PM
yeah this probably will be a modern dragons lair with a dating sim
Consolcwby @ Mar 12th 2008 9:42PM
Quantic Dreams... ah - I can't wait to see what this one is going to be like. They are the ONLY company taking huge risks to update the adventure game genre and bring it out of the 90s! I loved Omnicron and Indigo... now, with heavy rain, they're pulling out all the stops! I don't know why so many here are doubtful, but I suppose too many people never played the games. =/ Sad... So, check out the stuff for Indigo Prophesy, and make up your own minds!
