'Leaked' image shows PSN store redesign - or not

Upon receipt of the above image we at PS3 Fanboy went through several psychological stages. First, we were excited about the "leaked PlayStation Store image" which was allegedly sent to our tipster by Sony itself. Then our journalistic cynicism kicked in and we noticed a few things which seemed out of place. Not least of which was the title: "Playstation Store." Knowing Sony intimately, we're familiar with their weird spelling foibles and we know they'd never let themselves get away with the lack of capitalization of "PLAYSTATION" (or at the very least "PlayStation"). Not on an official screenshot at least.

There are various other little niggles which have us scratching our collective chin, too. This is probably a mock up. A very good mock up, by all accounts, but a mock up nonetheless. Don't be disheartened, though. We're certain Sony will come up with something that will look and function beautifully. Just a month to go before we see it for real.

The other thing omitted (that I can see from this tiny pic): No shopping cart. Not much use to anyone if the Wallet and Cart are gone. =/ So, I am officially labeling this as: PhonyBaloney(tm) Network aka PBN(tm). =D

there isnt any shopping cart but they got view basket at the bottom of the screen. next to ^ button.

The cart could be accessed by the cart total button next to the "my account" button and the wallet can already be accessed by account management, meaning it would be in the "my account" page.

This aside. I too think its fake. Mainly because whatever they come up with needs to be about to scale down to the SDTV res and this looks like it would scale down badly.

Id love it to look something like this. Anything that pumps more inormation on the screen is A+ in my book.

Wallet amount is at the top right (15.01$), view cart button centre-bottom. That's not how I'd expect them to format a monetary amount, though. Looks fake...

atleast they got home beta on there but i was thinking that would be added onto the XMB through a firmware update like how folding@home was done. well hope this is atleast an early view of the new store.

Oh, now I see that stuff! But it still looks fake - and I agree that it wouldn't scale down to sd nice. Jem, next time please link it to a larger image if you have one! My old-man eyes can barely see the text. =/ Damn the passing years! =D

No way, that's Powerpoint 2007! I would know all the effects, I work with it all the time, specifically the reflections on the left and the gradient on the 'Playstation Store' logo.

Not much of a redesign even if it was real. The format is all the same...just crammed into a different layout. Not really exciting, but then again, how excited can you get over a site redesign? It's welcome, but nothing to have a parade for.

If you save the pic then zoom in and compare the pixelation on the gta4 tabs on the main games list you can see its different on each. why would it be different if it was the same pic? because this is a badly made fake i guess.

Its clearly fake, why the hell is Street Fighter IV on there when its only been announced for the Arcade, the home beta is there when at current time it is a closed beta, the PLAYSTATION Store is wrong, its supposed to be capitials, the currency sign is in the wrong place.

It still looks crappy, it needs the SingStore look and it will be fine. It also needs to be accessable to SDTV owners unlike the current design which has three icons on the screen at once!
