Dead Space dev diary explains the game's origin

If you've been looking for a new horror title, Dead Space might just fill the void this October. This developer diary was released and after watching it, you might find yourself a little more interesting in EA's upcoming space thriller. We know that, after checking out Sunshine on Blu-ray, space can be a pretty breathtaking place for a movie or a game. This one's shaping up pretty nicely -- let's hope it continues to.

I have a feeling this game will suffer the same fate as Cold Fear:

-great concept
-sets itself apart from other games
-looks cool and fun
-comes out and everyone says "ehh..." and it silently disappears

I thought Cold Fear was great. Didn't finish it because it was my Gamefly trial game, but I wouldn't be sad if someone gave it to me.

I'm interested in the game's concept so long as it doesn't turn into a System Shock clone. I'll be keeping my ears open though, especially as we draw near to the release date.

Let's just say...the concept ain't that original (ps2 - Extermination, anyhow?) But if they can pull it off with flawless execution where it's an intense battle for survival, I'm in.

wow. a dev diary i actually enjoyed watching. this game looks decent but its still only a shooter, and third person at that. i can't say that i think this is going to be much different than any other shooter, plus it's coming out in october.

This game really doesn't seem new or fresh to me. Maybe I've become really jaded, but just because something jumps out of the shadows at you in a game doesn't really scare me. When are devs going to realise that it's the suspense that gets to people, not just the shocks? =/
