Capcom explains lack of PS3 Street Fighter II HD beta
Now, giving Capcom the benefit of the doubt, the company's PS3 and 360 e-distribution games are usually on par with each other. Svensson backs this up by reiterating that Capcom is "the only third party publisher doing cross platform, simultaneous digital releases." This is pretty much true. Super Puzzle Fighter, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, and the company's other upcoming offerings all reflect this. Let's just hope that when it comes time to play, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on the PSN will be bug free.

I hope that Capcom decides to reinsert the missing bg sprites seeing how the limit cap doesn't affect Bionic Commando and SSF2THD

Sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me. Yet another strike against Capcom in my opinion. Honestly, as a PS3 gamer, what makes me like Capcom or appreciate them in any way?
mezzanine @ Mar 15th 2008 9:00PM
...Resident Evil 5? Other than that I don't know.
TheEnd187 @ Mar 15th 2008 4:46PM
Ok why couldn't they make the BETA for PS3 and then make 360 owners wait? "Any issues found in PS3 would be fixed in the 360 version..." Oh no wait this is Capcom, they are too busy bl0wing Bill Gates. They could've got more sales of Lost Planet if they woulda included an invite to the SSFIITHDR if you bought that game. F U CAPCOM

I have always hated Capcom, they have like 2 games/series that I care about at all and other than that they are crap. Their BS attitude toward PS3 (my console of choice, even though I own a 360, PSP, and Wii) makes me dislike them even more.
Popfrogs @ Mar 15th 2008 5:37PM
Personally I'd prefer silence to some PR bullshit like this. Limited resources? Hire some people. Is Capcom on the verge of bankruptcy or something? When did they get so strapped for cash and people?
Also are they ever going to create something new? Lost Planet was a new concept (that sucked) but they're turning into EA with the 5th Resident Evil coming up, DMC4, a remake of Street Fighter (not complaining about that just putting it on the pile)... I think there was a time about 10 years ago when they created new stuff.

I've always loved Capcom but I've always loved games so I own a 360 and PS3 so no loss either way. Capcom has to go with an online service that has the users and right now PSN can't compare. I'll probably get a copy for the 360 (Achievements) and the PS3 version (for the higher textures). Thats whats nice about PSN and not limiting developers to a certain size for a game. Give PSN another year and PS3 users will scream there love again for Capcom.

If you've been reading the gaming news lately, both the PS3 and 360 versions of this game are going to be the same, the space limits have been lifted on the 360 for Capcom this time around.
KingOfGods @ Mar 15th 2008 6:23PM
WahWahWah....Everyone stop your crying. Capcom is a business and they will run the beta as cheaply as possible and get maximum return.
Lets say the ps3 had 100 potential users and the 360 has 300. If capcom is anticipating 50% of the users are going to purchase commando to get the beta, that would be 50 on ps3 and 150 on xbox...who do you think they will choose? It just makes perfect sense to release a stress test beta to the console that has the largest user base for maximum return.
I own both consoles and last gen i owned all 3 and I feel its about time capcom decided to be a true 3rd party company and develop games for the xbox.
All this talk of capcom taking away Monster hunter is just dumb. The only people who are hurt from anything capcom decides are the PS fanboys. A true gamer doesn't stick to one console. A true gamer understands that a Beta regardless of what console it is on benefits everyone.
Shattercross @ Mar 15th 2008 6:56PM
Amen, brutha.
xrich @ Mar 15th 2008 11:26PM
a 'true gamer' doesn't play just one console? so everyone that doesnt own all consoles is a fanboy? lol...thats ridiculous.
MJ @ Mar 15th 2008 7:07PM
I 2nd the call for Puzzle Fighter in Europe? Why is this still not available?
As for the beta, I dunno what to think about it really, I do get the impression that the PS3 is being slightly mistreated by Capcom, but can't quite put my finger on what it is.
Volomon @ Mar 16th 2008 9:05PM
You know damn well as anyone else that its only on Xbox 360 because they pay them to put the beta on their system.
deaftly (Brawl - 1075-0467-4222) @ Mar 15th 2008 7:54PM
Damn , alot of cry babies here.
joey_numbers @ Mar 16th 2008 6:22AM
I wonder how much this game will be...
Will @ Mar 15th 2008 11:05PM
I consider myself a "true gamer" yet I only own a PS3. I really don't give a crap about the stoopid beta, I just wanna play so grats to the Xbots punish the system, push it to the limits and tell Capcom to consider GGPO!
ted @ Mar 16th 2008 11:24AM
I'm not crying, just caling them as I see them. I guess since PS store gets less downloads we should be grateful they are even feeding us dog food, right? I wish I could be a "true gamer"(as if that is some sort of accolade!) but me and the five guys down at my game store all have burnt out broken down 360's. Yeah, like I'm gonna buy another! If Capcom is so fair with cross platform developing, where is my Dead Rising PS3?
Yeha, make Dead Rising 2 a PS3 exclusive then I'll consider them fair. Until then their bias extends beyond the financial model into the realm of "we just dont give a damn".
