Rob Yascombe dreams about Haze being 'awesome'
Rob Yascombe is a name PS3 fans may want to remember. His performance in this stunning Sci-Fi channel promo is one for the books -- the crazy books, that is. The video is all about Haze, the upcoming PS3 FPS game (ignore the Xbox 360 dev kits in the background, please!). While his explanation of Nectar and Mantel are familiar, he reveals a few tidbits, such as the massive length of the script: over 1000 pages long. The Royal Shakespeare Company is also partaking in the voice acting and they only go where there's either: a) a lot of money, or b) a great script. Supposedly, they didn't have too much money.

Dear Seansloan,
Instead of making banal and pointless posts, you could be getting a sense of humour or even a good lay.
Thanks for your time,
SUPER

Yascombe's job is pretty much done.
But yeah, seriously. If you don't like his (awesome) humor, don't watch his videos.
cycopl @ Mar 15th 2008 2:22PM
Yeah, because the half a day (at most probably) they spent making that video, could have better spent making that game a masterpiece. You know because games are created in a week and stuff.

That video was awesome.

This is great, I love the videos and Yescombe, but I miss the game itself. It has simply been delayed too many times, and if it isn't really good when it's finally released, I'm going to be extremely disappointed. Especially since it's from Free Radical of TimeSplitters fame.

I just found out the F2007 Ferrari F1 Car is going to be in GT5 Prologue
Please confirm this PS3Fanboy!!!
Patrick @ Mar 15th 2008 1:08PM
umm ps3fanboy cant comfrim anything noob. Polyphony Digital or Sony could confirm it. Fanboy can just let you kno that THEY confrimed it.
HAAS599 @ Mar 15th 2008 1:28PM
That is exactly what I asked, noob.
I want PS3Fanboy to do an article on it. If they think it is fake then I will too. If they believe it to be real, then I will to, noob.
I dont have PD's email address but if you can give to me I'll be happy to ask them also, patrick you noob.
HAAS599 @ Mar 15th 2008 3:04PM
if anyone out there cares, the F2007 IS in GT5:P Pal edition.
I am assuming it will be in the US edition, but if not I'll be importing another copy of Prologue.

did anyone notice the green playstation controller that one guy had (could be sixaxis butmost likely dualshock 3) hopefully they'll have special edtions for this game. But yeah this game better not dissappoint specially cosidering killzone 2 and resistance 2 coming out this year as well.
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ Mar 15th 2008 5:17PM
yea PS3 certainly has some potentially stellar FPS's coming out pretty soon and im afraid that at it's current state, PS3 wont be able to handle them all at the same time. the install base is certainly growing but i dont think its where it needs to be yet. lets hope im wrong.
Solid_Snake @ Mar 15th 2008 3:19PM
tthis game looks better and better each time i see it.. the cutscene videos look amazing. But, more importantly, it must suck to have a name as Derek Littlewood
cycopl @ Mar 15th 2008 3:04PM
I thought the video was pretty funny, but Haze doesn't look that special to me. I've watched videos on the "nectar" mechanics, like throwing nectar grenades at enemy soldiers to make them go crazy and turn on their buddies for a while, but that's not even a very new game mechanic, there have been several games where you can "berserk" enemies and make them attack their own allies. Other than that, this just looks like a typical FPS... Typical dystopian urban setting, unoriginal character design (soldiers with huge helmets with a colored visor? Master Chief anyone?), contrived plot (soldiers vs. rebels... that's a new one).
And on the topic of Master Chief... Does anybody else see this as an attempt to cash in on Halo's success? Sure, the plots of the two games are completely different, but the graphic style and gameplay seems very similar. On top of that, the title of the game "HAZE", is very aesthetically similar to "HALO", even though the word is different. It's a dumb comparison, but think about it: It's right next to Halo alphabetically, it looks like halo on the back of the box, it's got a soldier with a colored visor on the front. Sure it will be PS3 exclusive (for a while at least), so it wouldn't be next to Halo 3 in gamestop, but somebody who doesn't know much about video games may be inclined to assume that HAZE is similar to HALO merely because of the name similarity.
But yeah, this is just an observation by me. I'm not an Xbox fanboy trying to put down a PS3 exclusive, as I don't even own an Xbox. I'm a proud PS3 owner, I play it every day, I'm just making an observation about a game. So no offense.
JKPierce @ Mar 15th 2008 5:30PM
How long are your arms? I've never seen anyone reach that far in my life.
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ Mar 15th 2008 7:19PM
thats a fair enough observation. i mean ive watched the same videos as everyone else and you cant tell me that the buggy in Haze doesnt look like a Warthog. i dont have an Xbox, nor do i want one, but anyone can certainly see the similarities there, and yes even in the name.
but with that said, i dont think Halo really does anything other FPS's havent done gameplay wise. they do a great job of putting all the good elements in one package and add in a memorable storyline. if Free Radical and Ubisoft have figured that formula out, then who can really fault them based on the success of the Halo series?
also on the exclusivity, new news today:

You made some very good comments about Haze vs Halo, the lexicon of that, whatever. But the graphics look better than Halo, and the story, if they pull it off will be completely different than anything we've seen before-- your statement that this has been done before is totally worthless since you gave no examples-- you could have made it up. Give examples, back up what you're saying. If you can. Hopefully they will deal with drug enhancements vs the cost paid (I hope they've read William Gibson's Neuromancer) in an interesting way. You said that it was run of the mill, but it's not-- it's like you don't even understand the ideas they're dealing with, here.
Iain @ Mar 15th 2008 3:53PM
Lets hope they can pull this off... Great games under their belt guys so don't flub up now.
Lp47PS3 @ Mar 15th 2008 4:13PM
I always enjoy these funny videos. Hopefully we see some gameplay videos soon.
Popfrogs @ Mar 15th 2008 5:41PM
I think the game has been finished for awhile but they're trying to time the release just right. Releasing in about 3 weeks would probably be a win for them, it's kind of a slow time right now.
George Arauz @ Mar 15th 2008 9:10PM
Uh oh.. i saw the 360 Dev kit in the back.. hmmmmmmm..
Phizzy @ Mar 16th 2008 3:15AM
Yeah, they have 360 devkits, they're not owned by Sony. Timesplitters 4 will be multiplatform.
PR @ Mar 18th 2008 8:48AM
Hmmm, I guess the 360 dev kits means this is a times POS3 exclusive! ;-)
Phizzy @ Mar 17th 2008 12:50PM
You know what? You're right. If someone owns one, they just can't help but use it.
