Sony has something big at E3? Duh!

With the lack of any big news coming out of GDC, and no word yet on when Sony will be hosting their next Gamer's Day, all eyes are on E3 for the big news of the year. Sure we know quite a lot of what's coming in 2008, but if you think Sony doesn't have anything up their sleeves then you're crazy. Likewise, Nintendo and Microsoft will be making some big announcements at the event that will "give [them] a boost heading into the holidays." That's kind of the point of E3.

A conference for game developers would be a bit of a strange place to release a new colour of PS3

Maverick Saturn @ Mar 17th 2008 7:00PM
Oh really? Do you think it could be gaming related or maybe Sony has manufactured a new car :O
Wonderflex - Brawl Digits 4811-6636-9333 @ Mar 18th 2008 1:08PM
I'm not sure yet. It does sound like it's going to definitely be about something though. I'm possibly really psyched about this.

Jem, if you're making a veiled reference to the BBC Office ("Crufts") in this post, then I salute you.

They'd better show Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, but especially Killzone. Also, a Final Fantasy trailer.

I think it'd be quite interesting to see an article outlining some of the news from the Sony camp in previous years, the things people werent expecting to see, the success stories and the failures (overhyped and flopped then released etc), stuff like that in the build-up to this years E3.
It might put things into perspective a little, rather than people expecting a KZ3 trailer, EA making an effort on their PS3 titles, or even the possibility of Home going live ;)

I think E3 needs to be a little later. It should be at September to fulfill the "push to holiday" momentum purpose. I mean, during May? You'd have another 7 months for E3 to cool off. September makes more sense, then comes Q3 of the year where some games start rolling off, and then Q4 when everything comes off. And E3 could be a window to end of year and next year. And then Gamer's Day should be during March to have people look forward to end of the year E3 and Q3/Q4. That's how I would do it, but I'm not in charge.

I can't wait for all the massive explosion, children crying and people screaming in the streets after the E3... for real man, 2008's HUGE announcements are sure to shake the world, if not cause World War III.
KidSqueek @ Mar 18th 2008 2:04PM
isnt E3 in May? maybe Sony will introduce the slim PS3 or say "hey your finally getting Killzone 2"?
dave @ Mar 19th 2008 12:50AM
i can say now that the new ps3 slim will be 180gig, that`s just a little bit of the big news to come from the E3 news, MORE BIG NEWS TO COME NEXT WEEK
dave @ Mar 19th 2008 12:58AM
this will be the biggest and best year for playstation, ps3, psp, and ps2. *box R.I.P,
djpenny @ Mar 19th 2008 9:17AM
COMING VERY SOON
dave @ Apr 21st 2008 11:45AM
inside info!!!!!!!!!! its going to be the new ps3 slim.
Marcus @ Mar 17th 2008 11:17PM
Inside info, eh? Could you kindly share where you got that? I can't really believe that Sony would much like having "insiders" talk about something like what they'll be showing at E3. Usually companies like that to be a bit of a suprise.
