Call of Duty 4 gets patched

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has just received another patch, further balancing the game's excellent online offerings. The patch will automatically download and install when you launch the game on your PS3. Included features:

Optimized servers
New Kill cams (grenades, RPG's, airstrikes, claymores, and more)
Quick Mute (allows user to mute annoying players by pressing X on their user ID in the lobby)
Addition of "Recently Met Players" for the PlayStation Network
Improvements to the Sniper Rifles and Acog attachments (no more delayed shots)

Glad to see Infinity Ward is still putting some strong support behind this multiplatform title. Yes, the Xbox 360 got a similar patch a while back, but at least the PS3 hasn't been forgotten.

Hackers? What? How do you figure? People are running unsigned code or modifying the signed code on the PS3? I highly doubt that.

can you clarify what kind of advantage the glitchers are getting? (not asking how to do it, cause i hate cheating) just wanna know, lately ive been getting smoked and i swear that sometimes the guy on the killcam is cheating somehow..

From what I saw, people are able to get unlimited ammo and a large magazine (or it might have been an infinite ammo mag). I've had back-to-back-to-back 30+kill games today on merc. team deathmatch, hope I wasn't the one making your day hell lol.

Well I'll be..... I just saw a video of it. It's hard to tell if it's an aimbot as well, but there's at least a colored name and colored rectangle around enemies. Involves editing a game save file. Evidently fixed in the newest patch (which is good).

There definitely are aimbots. I once saw my friend play a game where this guy had 40 kills and maybe 3 deaths. All his kills were head shots and he once got a headshot on my friend through the wall.

I am so sick and tired of people with their voice-changer set to extremes constantly making annoying noises or the ignorant fsck-tards who insist on forcing their musical tastes on others through their headsets. Now I can mute them and get on with the game.

Now please, please, PLEASE add a votekick option so we can deal with those other annoying bottom-feeders: serial teamkillers. In the hard-core game modes, they are becoming all too frequent and are ruining the game for everyone. If you give me that, I'll never ask for anything ever again. Well, OK, maybe a couple more things like the ability to join your friends game without having to waif for an invite, and replacing the invite popups with a menu option you have to choose to view invites so we don't have to deal with popups when we press Select while in the middle of a game to check who's still alive. Very annoying!

But that's it. Add those things and your game will be perfection!

Sweet! One of the things I was looking for was the "Recently Met Players", it kinda felt like not developed for the PS3 when I noticed that, all my previous titles had it.

Does anyone has a suggestion to reduce the bullet lag in this game? It really sucks when you watch how you were killed how far from the truth were you when aiming.

Any one else having SIXAXIS issues after installing the patch? Both of my controllers are unable to function wirelessly, only when plugged in my that short cable. I only get the four blinking LED's (all at once, in sync.)

It's cos Sony EU want to verify the PAL version for themselves. I'd rather wait than have a inproper version. Besides, it was rolled out today (see fourzerotwo's blog) and we will get it soon.

Also Andrew forgot to mention that this game *did* get patched on X360 first but the patch was buggy, they recalled it, then repatched it later.

@BOB - I had this same problem with my first sixaxis that came with my 60 gb ps3. i called sony and they said id probably have to mail it to them to get it fixed. instead, i went to best buy, bought an extra sixaxis and then returned the defective one with it's packaging. it seems that you have already bought one extra controller, so i hope you still have the packaging. just do this same process twice over.

needless to say i was a little pissed off that my "wireless" controller for my brand new $600 console wouldnt work properly right out of the box.

Thanx- got it working. . . shut all the way down, restarted with it plugged into PS3 and it was great. To someone elses comment about seeing yourself get hit by a 'nade. . . how bout that bombs eye view as it dumps on you skull? Great! And shutting up the voices- a Godsend (hit the pause button ingame then click on who you wish to silence)

Also as for the hackers i've been a bit confused here. I know that with exception of a few glitches there shouldnt be anything going on. however at a particular game, on Strike, domination mode i ran against a guy who finished 51-2.
Not by camping either, he ran around using strictly knife and the handgun. I did the following before losing my shit and leaving the game:
Shot him a few times from distance with g3, no death. Caught him stabbing/pistol whipping 4 ppl and emptied out a clip of my G36c in his back, he turned around and killed me like nothing happened. Switched to RPD and did near the same, still nada. Finaly i realized that only nades and stabbing can kill him, so stabbed him with a lot of luck.
Didnt really bothered getting into it too much, but yeah...someone explain that!

Sounds like a server glitch to me. People have reported getting into games where the game mode is different than what it says when the round is starting. If knives and nades were the only things hurting him, the server had him in headshot-only mode which is a custom match setting. I don't think this is something you can trigger on your own.
