Could Japan be receiving a new PS3 color for the launch of
Metal Gear Solid 4? This magazine scan seems to suggest so. This Limited Edition system will come with a slightly grayed version of the console -- perhaps to parallel how Snake has aged in the newest iteration of the franchise. It looks like Japan's bundle includes a few bonuses -- is that the
Metal Gear Saga DVD?
These new
Metal Gear bundles are a wise move on Sony's part: this is undeniably a system seller. (Check out the US bundle

Update: These "steel" PS3 systems will include, as expected, a DualShock 3 controller as well.

Are you basing your conclusion on a translation or just the fact that the image looks different. I'll agree it doesn't appear as dark or as glossy as our PS3, but maybe they adjusted the image so it would appear more clearly on the page's black background. You could be right, I'm just sayin...

I dont want to seem weird but I would do a lot for a matte black/gunmetal ps3. I just dont want to give up the 60gb sku I have now. I was thinking of picking up another system for the bedroom (nightmares of save games have prevented me doing so as yet) and If I were to pick up another system I wouldnt be second guessing it... importing this thing all the way.

u can port over game saves with a flash drive or a memory card.
You do however hve to install all the games over!!! And activate and download all the games from the store again
PS - I just had to do it... and BTW the damn 7GB back up is not as much as you would like to save over.

Some games (EA's: NFS, Burnout, Live, Madden, etc) don't allow copies to be made, they are "Copy Prohibited." Although AOT's saves (also from EA) are copyable, so that may be a good sign for the future. Maybe they are beginning to pull their head(s) out of their ass(es)?!

I can certainly use an upgrade from my 40GB.... I am not sure if US will get same color or just piano black again. I also have a feeling FF13 will come with the silver version but that's probably not for another year or so.....

Is it true the US version comes out in June? It seems like that is the only version for the foreseeable future that will have the DS3 pack in.
That is a long time to wait for someone who is ready to buy a PS3 now (like me) won't do so without the DS3 pack-in.

There's a movie pack and a Prologue pack coming out for Europe, but I don't think they have DS3's in there.
And yeah, there's no other huge exclusive release before MGS4 comes out (maybe Haze?). So unless they suddenly reveal a GTA4 package, I'm not sure this'll happen =P.

^^ correct me if im wrong, but you can save EA saved games just like any other. As we speak i have a copy of my Madden and Fight Night 3 game saves. Maybe I just dont know what you mean by "AOT saves" (but im guessing autosave)

Anyways, the DS3's come out April 15th i believe so just buy a ps3 now and a ds3 next month....Your eventually gunna want/need 2+ controllers anyways so who cares if you have 1 Sixaxis...just give it to the 2nd player...lol...player 1 (you) gets the DS3...problem solved

I think the matte gray finish is supposed to match Old Snake's special optical camouflage. Personally I think it's hot and if I didn't own a launch 60GB I'd seriously consider importing. I hope to god Sony has the balls to release it here in the US for the MGS pack, and if they're too scared, have a few select Sony stores stock them.

Yeah, according to the article it is a special color model for the bundle theyre putting out. The color based on the kanji comes out as "copper" or "bronze". Pretty darn cool :)
and Xeileon, import PS3's are region free for games, but not for all Blu-rays and not for DVDs.
