MGS1 hitting Japanese PSN
In a move that undoubtedly keeps the hype-train chugging on strong towards Metal Gear Solid 4, Konami is bringing the first Metal Gear Solid up on the Japanese PSN. The downloadable version of the game, good for the PS3 and PSP, will be available on March 21 with a 600 yen price tag. As of now, there's no mention if other regions will be getting similar treatment. Here's to wishful thinking!

Good thing I created my Japanese account last week!

...and there was a post last week about adding yen to the Japanese PSN account from a non-Japanese locale.

Having multiple accounts kicks ass! I have a Japanese, American, Hong Kong and European PSN accounts! Its great having all the PSN content you want with multiple accounts.
I am Joseph C. by the way LOL!!
I have Metal Gear Solid Collection which came out in Japan last year and I just ordered the Essential Collection from the U.S. I would actually also like a re-release of the two Metal Gear Games which were released on the MSX.
Can anyone confirm for me if they are on the Essential Collection Disk with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance?? Thanks in advance

Dang, I just spent my last bit on a stupid fighting game. Luckily, Friday is also payday for me. I've been dreaming of this since the PSP was first announced.

Damn it! i just brought the original last week!!!!

how much space will it take up?! 40+gigs? 8|
Dahk @ Mar 18th 2008 1:30PM
Dohp. Comment system brokzored on me. Hope this doesn't double post. In any case, original PSX games were on CDs (i.e. 700 megs each). MGS took up two CDs, so I'd imagine it would be like.. 1.4 Gigs if not less.
I recently dusted off the old MGS discs though and ripped them onto my PSP =D. Multi-discs were the big problem, but that was solved easily by these damn crazy people on t3h netz.

I doubt it'll come to america cause that's right around the time MGS essential collection comes here. I don't know why you would want to download it in japanese when you could just pick up that collection.
MJ @ Mar 18th 2008 2:19PM
It's probably because its the only 'legal' way of transfering it to the PSP to play on the go!
Please bring this to Europe Konami, seeing as we wont be getting the collection like the US!
LoCuSt @ Mar 18th 2008 2:42PM
This better hit state side too; I'd rebuy mgs1 in a heart beat.
knight667 @ Mar 18th 2008 3:01PM
Sure hope this comes to the US...that'd be great!
Emophia @ Mar 18th 2008 3:11PM
This better come out in English.
MGS on PSP = WIN.

Cahlito @ Mar 18th 2008 4:29PM
wow you cant be serious! um just look up the mgs storyline. its extremely interesting.
MSA70camaro @ Mar 18th 2008 5:16PM
Will it be the PS1 version or the Gamecube version? I wouldn't buy it unless it was the Gamecube version because the graphics were much better.
Phizzy @ Mar 18th 2008 6:53PM
Yeah, the graphics were a bit better, but the game was much too easy and the cut-scenes were like Devil May Cry. At one point Snake jumps up in the air, throws swords at a big wall and shouts "And with great strength, I... RAM IT IN!" while doing a flamenco dance.

A question to those with jap , usa , euro PSN accounts , i got a USA(wasn't stated as such by seller) copy of COD4 from ebay ( i live in UK ) and several people have said i wont be able to get the new soon to be released map-pack because i have the USA version , does anyone know is this true , and more importantly is it possible to get around as i have a VISA bank card ?
Could i get a USA PSN account then purchase the maps that way ??
mar1 @ Mar 23rd 2008 9:25PM
this is a dream come TRUE although i just spent 100 dollars on MGS1 on PS1 for a new copy since its so damn hard to get your hands nowadays on a new one , but good news anyways
