PSP firmware 3.93 expands internet radio
A late night update of the PlayStation.blog reveals that a new firmware update will hit PSP today. 3.93 will, as usual, expand support for PSN titles. However, it will also revamp the oft-forgotten internet radio feature of the handheld. According to the post, there are "20 new internet radio players to enjoy." Not only that, "the new players are organized into more specific styles of music so that PSP users can easily find what they are looking for and listen to their favorite genres." The current rendition of the radio is a bit disorganized -- anything will be undoubtedly be a step up.

Iddy @ Mar 18th 2008 6:26AM
working now :)
one thing though.. it says "PSN support extended" etc.. BUT! it also seems to be adding "skype support under [network]".. i had skype a month ago..!?
FatalChaos @ Mar 18th 2008 10:08AM
The skype is for Japan.
I wish we had more useful features like screen shot capability, my dream update would contain that and that alone.
cwhitesox77 @ Mar 18th 2008 11:52AM

Iddy @ Mar 18th 2008 2:19PM
IF it's corrupt, d/l it again, just wait a while first.. i had to wait a few hours till it would stop saying that.. i also recharged my battery, if that had any benefit..?
aiko.adonia @ Mar 18th 2008 6:57AM
not a big fan of the previous internet radio players but with the new ones especially the clip players i will be using it a lot more.

Cool, I use the Internet Radio features constantly. It's more of a radio player and web browser for me than a game player. I can't really remember the last game I played.
As long as they don't mess with my GCN and RBN streams it's all good.
thissceneisdead @ Mar 18th 2008 9:10AM
my radio player sucked on 3.90. It would play for about 4 seconds and stop. Buffer back up and play for another 4 seconds and so on.
lilsicko @ Mar 18th 2008 12:04PM

I just started to enjoy internet radio late at night on occasion.
It's fun to listen to random music.
RadioScott @ Mar 18th 2008 10:20AM
I can only get my Internet Radio to work maybe 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time, the player will load, but none of the genres are listed and I get no audio whatsoever. Maybe they fixed the problems. I'll have to try it when 3.93 M33 drops!
Mills and Boom @ Mar 18th 2008 10:58AM
Radio worked perfectly for me before; 2mbps connection at 35% signal. Even with my iMac on the internet it always worked. Half the time when I'm working I just want to play a genre rather than a specific song. Jpop for art (what the hell are they singing?!), ambience for coding, reggae for making babies. what!
Still I'll update once it hits the M33.
Alien @ Mar 18th 2008 11:20AM
Well I dont use it much ... still its an update at least :P
kyle @ Mar 18th 2008 12:47PM
Is this update only available for the Japenese psp's? Or is it available in america?
Webslinger @ Mar 18th 2008 1:06PM

kastonie @ Mar 18th 2008 1:17PM

Kalil @ Mar 18th 2008 1:59PM

psp&dsFanboy @ Mar 19th 2008 12:42AM
I like these new radio stations much better that the other two. Although the first time I pulled up the Rock clip station it started playing Nelly. :/
Francisco @ Mar 19th 2008 11:18PM
I can only get my Internet Radio to work sometimes, in some cases the radio does not work for many hours, even days, but I do not know why. I expect that with the 3.93 M33, the radio works all the time.
kari @ Apr 5th 2008 12:07PM
Can someone tell me if http://525.com is (525 Power Tracks) in the list of available stations under the hard rock-metal genres? This is my favorite internet radio station.
trixx @ Mar 21st 2008 8:26PM
