Normally we'd have the videos for you to watch right here, but the website hosting them seems to be having some bandwidth issues when it comes to embedded streaming. As such, we're just going to link you to the videos and assure you that they're pretty awesome. We've got not one, not two, but three videos for you to watch and while it's not quite the same as playing the game, WipEout HD looks like one heck of a fun ride. F-Zero, eat your heart out.
Has there been a release date announced yet? I can't wait for this!!
One idea I thought thought might work was sixaxis airbraking. Pull back on the controller to break, and tilt it at the same time as pulling back to only use one side. Subtle sixaxis is good, but I wouldn't say it was anywhere close to the wii for primary controls.
It's not that the Wii is really any better.... there's two reasons why the Wii seems better - 1.) The developers put a lot more time and energy into how motion controls work, because it's about the only thing the system has going for it 2.) The wand shape of the Wii-mote is actually much better suited to registering motion than the Sixaxis controller. The one-handed-ness allows for a much bigger range of motion, and the long axis makes smaller motions more exaggerated (which is good for the devs).
Btw, don't try to stream the movies in your browser, go to the download pages and grab them off a mirror, I'm almost 22% through downloading a couple 500 meg 720p movies.
Wow, those videos are insane! it looks so freakin' good. Definitely a day 1 buy for me, and I don't usually do that!
BTW, yes, the videos aren't 1080p... that would double their size, and they're already 500 megs each! They look plenty good at 720, can't wait to see how insane they look at 1080
I'm honestly not trying to be a troll here, I'm just curious to know what it is about this game that has everyone so excited. I played the original wipeout a long time ago, and to me, it seems a very simplistic racer when compared to games like Motorstorm or GT. Maybe it's the power-ups? In the video I watched, though, they weren't even used that much and with such a small track width and so little variation in terrain (compared to Motorstorm), I'm just not seeing why this is so well liked. We all have our opinions, so I'm not putting anyone down for theirs--I'm just curious about what the draw is to this one?
It's fast, the visuals are crisp and beautiful.... It's a different kind of racing than the bouncing around out of control motorstorm or super-realistic track racing of GT. It's slightly more arcady but a much faster feel that more realistic games.

None of the media I have seen has been above 720.
It is supposed to be a 1080 game right?

That Leaked List of releases lists it coming out in May.

Here, let me satisfy your needs. This is the older Eurogamer exclusive trailer, but in 1920x1080. Believe me, you will be screaming like a girl :p

Ignore the pretty ladies and enter the code at the top right of the screen in the text field. :) Then wait for 45 seconds.

Have you ever played Wipeout? Its so hard I cant even win one race. I may just suck at it, but I'm good at all other games. Oh well...I fail.

I haven't seen any information on a split screen mode, yet. Will there be one or not? Anyone an idea?
RMF @ Mar 20th 2008 1:16PM
Personally speaking, this is my most anticipated game of this year. I just can't wait to play it.
