Get rid of a long list of nothing. We can't complain about a lack of content this week -- just a lack of interesting stuff. The most exciting things are the

We're starting to get really disheartened with the
Rock Band DLC. The last decent update was the Oasis song pack and, since then, we've seen
SingStar overtake
Rock Band for the "Best Rhythm Game Downloadable Content" award. If such a thing existed. Honestly, though. Harmonix could do with looking at how Sony appeals to multiple audiences with lots of different song genres. Also -- where are these full album downloads!

everyone needs to stop complaining about the dlc. at least we get weekly updates!
Christian @ Mar 20th 2008 4:14PM
Not a lot that interest you? Geez, how jaded can you get? And while sports game might not be your thing, at least recognize that a lot of your readers do enjoy such games and here there is both nice Golf DLC and a demo of the arcade style Sega Tennis game. Please get of your high horse here. Lets keep the sulking to PSN updates like last weeks European one.
Chowley @ Mar 20th 2008 4:18PM
Or this weeks European one, well lets be serious any European update is worth complaining about.
Mein Bratwurst @ Mar 20th 2008 4:15PM
I thought it was actually a pretty decent update.
sean @ Mar 20th 2008 4:19PM
i will be checkin out both demos and the soul calibur trailer. i thought this update was really good actually becuase i cant wait for condemned which still isnt released.(now pushed to friday for me)
adolson @ Mar 20th 2008 4:22PM
This is an amazing update... I hope that post was sarcastic. Two demos at once? That's pretty great. Better than a pair of video files to download..
Dan Davis @ Mar 20th 2008 4:28PM
I was JUST thinking about picking up TW08 again! The timing couldn't be more perfect!
asdf @ Mar 21st 2008 3:02PM
I downloaded th Turnberry addon for TW08 and it fucked my shit up! My custom golfer is nowhere to be found...im about to go ape shit
LoCuSt @ Mar 20th 2008 5:42PM
Rock Band at least gets dlc every week. I'd be happy with any dlc at this point.
What's the deal with this Pain map, that's all I am looking forward to.
Can't wait for MotorStorm 2.
Kabapu @ Mar 20th 2008 4:42PM
As far as Rock Band goes ... Ars has been reporting of a huge
overhaul for the game coming soon-ish (including in-game music store [with previews and everything]).
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2008/03/20/rock-band-gets-music-store-numerous-fixes-this-week
Kabapu @ Mar 20th 2008 4:46PM
Erh uh ... I see you guys reported on it too. So .... nevermind.
Munky @ Mar 20th 2008 10:21PM
I disagree w/ the DLC comment. Oasis? Who wants to play Oasis? Whiny vocals, lack luster guitars, robotic beat. Eww. This latest DL allows some hardcore songs that have yet to be released for Rock Band. Last week's DL was pretty OK too.
Daniel @ Mar 20th 2008 4:43PM
What is this "Singstar" you speak of in reference to an American PSN article, Jem? Did you forget that we don't have it yet?
dabamf @ Mar 20th 2008 4:54PM
"Crash Bandicoot: Warped" came out on February 7th. Since then there have been no PS1 Classics for PS3/PSP released. That brings sadness to my heart.
Steven @ Mar 20th 2008 4:50PM
Who likes Oasis these days?! The week after that lame pack was co&ca, pumpkins, and rush! come on!
Bad Mojo @ Mar 20th 2008 5:07PM
Looks like a lot of good stuff up there. One question...
How do I find out what the DLC actually is? For instance one TW course is free, yet the other is $5. So I'm just curious as to the why of it all :)
deusmecha @ Mar 20th 2008 5:10PM
Long list of nothing? Do you even remember the weeks where we would just get trailers and Rock Star crap?
Two demos is far from "nothing".
Smitty @ Mar 20th 2008 5:28PM
$5 for a single add-on course to Tiger Woods? That is ridiculous!
The game comes with about 15 courses... are you seriously going to price a single one at $5? I really, really, really hate EA.
Popfrogs @ Mar 20th 2008 5:31PM
Be like me, don't buy anything from them. It's called a boycott, vote with your wallet.
Severe_Gamer @ Mar 20th 2008 6:08PM
Well... I wouldn't totally boycott them. Just boycott the things they try to rip you off with. Crysis was EA and that was fantastic game that was worth every friggen penny. Command and Conquer is EA. Burnout is EA. $5 for one course IS a gyp, but don't cut off your nose to spite your face!
CM @ Mar 20th 2008 5:53PM
@ Jem Alexander:
Sorry, but you're wrong. The WEEKLY! DLC has been really varied spanning all genres: more indie type music, to greatful dead, to metallica, oasis, smashing pumpkins, 80's rock, and now some metal/hardcore. That is about as good as it gets for a game called ROCK band. The full albums will come and that is a more valid complaint, but even still, a full album has to take a while and would cause the weekly downloads to suffer if those took priority. I fear what you will have to say if they were to make you wait a long time for a full album that you didn't like in lieu of weekly updates. If Harmonix throws a dog a bone, they don't want to know whether it tastes good or not.
I feel bad that Harmonix has to field criticisms from people like you that have too big a voice on the internet.
Neon @ Mar 20th 2008 6:12PM
@ Jem Alexander:
I personally agree with Jem on the Rock Band DLC. It's gotten a bit heavy. YES it's "Rock Band" but not everyone likes screaming lyrics. And FYI, I have Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch on my iPod so YES I do enjoy that type of music.
It's "Rock Band" not "Metal Band".
JKPierce @ Mar 20th 2008 6:26PM
I had no idea Smashing Pumpkins, Grateful Dead, or Nine Inch Nails (to name but a few) were metal. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Neon @ Mar 20th 2008 6:43PM
@ JK
You're quite welcome. Always happy to help! :-P
I do have to admit you have a point, there have been other more rockish (but NiN is more "Industrial" in my eyes).
Perhaps the real complaint is that these aren't really enough variety in the "big named" artists. It's like "Oooh, we'll release all our big names first and then...well...this is all we have left"
I personally have great hopes for future DLC in Rock Band and hope that the reason for lack of bigger named titles is the time it takes to secure all the legal rights of distribution. C'mon Sony, help em out!
Andy @ Mar 20th 2008 7:18PM
First, you should probably mention that the Rock Band DLC is also available as a pack. The Earache Thrash Pack, as its being called.
Second, in your opinion, the last good DLC was Oasis. I, however, greatly enjoyed last weeks DLC, as well as a few of the weeks prior to that. I dont even have the Oasis pack, because I dont really care for their music.
TL;DR opinions, perhaps you should keep them to yourself
Hoamie @ Mar 20th 2008 9:27PM
totally agree with you regarding rock band dlc- nothing worthwhile for some time now. enough with the garbage songs lately and release the goddamn albums- releasing who's next would go a LONG way to re-establishing my faith in their DLC choices, but all they seem to want to put out there lately is crap on top of crap.
6StringSamrurai @ Mar 20th 2008 11:18PM
How can you complain about At The Gates on Rock Band? I'm tempted to buy the damn game just for that. What is the vocal track going to be like? How will the game judge your death metal scream?
ALL YOUR FEARS... THE FACE OF ALL YOUR FEEEEEEEEEARS!!!
TCampbell76 @ Mar 21st 2008 8:23AM
Strange that SingStar is being called "Best Rhythm Game Downloadable Content" by this site when every other site is calling it sh!t. Unless having every SingStar song for PS2 rehashed for your PS3 is the "Best Rhythm Game Downloadable Content" I'd say you have the "Worst Rhythm Game Downloadable Content" taste.
Juggy @ Mar 21st 2008 7:49PM
Awesome freaking update! I wanted to beat up some bums this weekend.
