European PS3 owners want an official Sony blog
We were incredibly pleased when SCEA started the PlayStation.Blog last June. Having a transparent method of communication between Sony and its consumers is invaluable. Since then we've seen the blog being used as both an up-front marketing tool and as a way for prominent members of the game development (and public relations) industry to communicate with the readers via the comments section. After almost a year of watching the site grow, it seems European PS3 owners are getting jealous of the service and want an equivalent site set up for PAL users.
A poll has been set up by a user of the official European PlayStation forums asking whether people would like to see an official PlayStation Blog for Europe. The overwhelming majority say that yes, they would like to see one while a tiny proportion (3% at the time of writing) claim that "ThreeSpeech is good enough" for them. While we respect ThreeSpeech, it's a flawed website which people seem to be wary or suspicious of due to the "semi-official" label. A fully transparent blog for Europe could only be a good thing and we would love to see it happen.

A European blog would also be great for the U.S. users because they'd get information on Home.

I agree. I love my PS3 but I'm tired of us europeans being forgotten. I read the US blog but it would be much better if Sony actually acted like Europe exists.

Yessss come on Europe! We be movin' up in the world now :)
paul @ Mar 21st 2008 8:58PM
the ut3 patch is out did anyone notice
Kspraydad @ Mar 21st 2008 9:34PM
That would be a good move. Then the US blog wouldn't have Euro's complaining about their PSN updates week in week out.
ClarkyCat @ Mar 22nd 2008 6:54AM
All this would do is effectively rename/rebrand Threespeech. Nobody falls for the "semi-official" label, it was simply the worst viral idea ever concocted by Sony's PR department.
And even when it does happen, what exactly is it going to do? Have hard-hitting exposés on why Europe is still, a year on from the much maligned launch is still no better off? Official aplogies for each week-on-week horrible updates to the PS Store? No, simply reporting a new screenshot here, release date there. Pass.

Don't they pretty much already have this in the form of the semi-official ThreeSpeech?
Dehshizknight @ Mar 22nd 2008 12:17AM
Read the post; it clearly says that 97% of Europeans don't feel satisfied with ThreeSpeech while only 3% of the users are.
Eggy @ Mar 22nd 2008 6:25AM
97% of the people that vist that site. Probably not even 1% of the total PS3 gamers in Europe.
The US blog is good enough, I just think they should unify the stores a bit more.

Don't know about this one... I'll have to wait and see.
Personally though (I'm in the UK) I like the US Blog, you get all the latest stuff before it even reaches these shores. Like if we had an EU Blog, I wouldn't know about or even have downloaded the Condemned 2 DEMO by now and played it.
Things take 'years' to get here man! But I guess it will be more useful for news about the Region and stuff! Oh well!
Torgo @ Mar 21st 2008 11:54PM
Isn't that what Threespeech is for?
Jay @ Mar 25th 2008 7:43PM
Dude, have you ever actually read ThreeSpeech?! In my experience (and. it seems. everyone else's) all ThreeSpeech ever does is post information which we have already read elsewhere two days earlier. I never read anything there which I did not already know.
It is about as pointless a "blog" as one can read on Johnny Interweb. Which is why I haven't visited it since Xmas time. Complete waste of my time and theirs.
GamerSam @ Mar 22nd 2008 5:29AM
Or even better they could try and release all content worldwide at the same time. Then we could be all like a big happy family, and no need to divide the regions :)
chin @ Mar 22nd 2008 6:06AM
I am looking forward to an European blog. The whole world could benefit from such a blog.
Tranando @ Mar 22nd 2008 6:59AM
I just want a Global Sony, none of this regional crap, where contacting UK support, they have no clue, because Japan is in the driving seat.
I reported a firmware bug to UK support, and trying to get that information back to Japan seems to be a nightmare.
Seems UK PS3 support is nothing more than a box swapper.
bnz @ Mar 22nd 2008 1:31PM
I agree to what Tranado said. There is no advantage in having a European blog - it just supports the differentiation between different regions, different release dates, different communities, etc. The point should be to have one global English speaking community and not to differentiate whether a customer is a US citizen or a European one. Developers wouldn't want to spend their time at multiple blogs - it is plainly inefficient. I would guess that a European Blog would be as good as the European PSN is - not good at all.

Yeah, I'd love to see a European blog. Can't wait for 260 posts in 32 languages whining about in-game XMB!
ps3man @ Apr 2nd 2008 3:41AM
