i thought Gran Turismo 5 released April 15th, which is a full two weeks away
Darkdrium777 @ Mar 23rd 2008 6:19PM
For us it does. For Europe and Japan I guess not. :/

"While the US doesn't get Gran Turismo 5: Prologue until next week, they have Dark Sector as a consolation prize."
ChodalBerryWagon @ Mar 23rd 2008 6:31PM
Ok, I'm not really getting this GT5 Prologue thing - its like a really expensive demo of the game you have to buy before the full game comes out?
Why are they releasing it? Why not just spend more time on making GT5 instead?
Tranando @ Mar 23rd 2008 6:36PM
It's bigger than most games.
70 cars, 6 tracks (2 variations on each), 16 player online, split screen support.
Certainly NOT a demo. It's a prologue. Spend less time listening to Xbots, and more time reading up on what Prologue means in a dictionary.
ChodalBerryWagon @ Mar 23rd 2008 6:39PM
If they release this, then what incentive will people have to buy the full game once its out?
Dahk @ Mar 23rd 2008 11:17PM
- A HUGE HUGE frickin' car list and map list (including rally tracks).
- Hopefully even better graphics/lighting/shading/AA/characters/interiors/pitcrews/audiences/anythingelse.
- New gameplay mechanics (possibly damage?).
- Full out customizable car internals (traditionally I believe its only select internal things in demos... I think). But you'll be able to adjust things like... camber, gear ratios, suspensions & coils, downforce, ballasts etc.
- Full out series/tournaments, licensing, GT Championships, rallying, 24 Hour Le Mans, Used car shops, Dynos and testing, etc etc.
- PS Home integrated... something. I believe they're doing something with "My Garage" or something and seeing other people's rides and garages. Hopefully something even cooler.
- Full online and multiplayer support.
- Full GTTV support. (TOP GEAAAAAAR)
- Dealership support I believe? As in... test driving cars and speaking to dealership reps directly? I heard something about that.
- Uhhhhhh there's probably more that I can't even think about right now.

Watch out, the EU version is PAL, if you are in the US, your TV is NTSC. Unless you connect via HDMI, it may not work correctly.
joey2joey @ Mar 23rd 2008 7:04PM
Sweet, that means even though im an american I can get it now (HDMI). But I can wait a week.
Deviation @ Mar 23rd 2008 9:00PM
HD is neither PAL nor NTSC. 1080p is 1080p and PS3 games are region free.
Tranando @ Mar 24th 2008 5:03AM
@Deviation
That is untrue. If you connect via analog connections, then it's encoded using PAL or NTSC encoding, and your TV may not be able to cope (most Euro TV's accept NTSC, but few American TV's accept PAL).
In short, if you connect via HDMI, then you will have no problems. If you connect using the MultiAV, it may not work.

The reason to get the full game? More tracks, and omg more cars. The last game, GT4, had over 700 cars. 70 is nice for a few months of fun. But i'm looking forward to the FULL game just as much as Prologue.
I thought this wasn't out in the US till the 15th as well? What's this next week stuff about?
Pat @ Mar 23rd 2008 7:51PM
Ah man - please there are continents other than the US :)
Where does it say US Games GT5:Prologue?
It says in EU games - thats Europe a large rejoin outside of the US its coming out in before Us - clear now? :)
massive_98 @ Mar 23rd 2008 8:06PM
SCEA needs a new logo, it looks very out of place on that boxart. And plastered on pretty much all PS3 boxart.
DelSource @ Mar 26th 2008 3:30PM
It's the SCE [A/E/I] logo not SCEA. There is a world outside of the US you know. Guess what SCEE and SCEI stand for....?
;o)
thats_that @ Mar 23rd 2008 8:34PM
this is as big as motorstorm...lol
brettjr @ Mar 24th 2008 1:23AM
EU can have the game first, they desire it. The support the PS3 recieves there trumps the amount the US give it and by far.
chillski @ Mar 24th 2008 9:33AM
PS3FANBOY WRITERS, please correct what said about gt5 prologue being out next week... u are getting everyone to be hopefully about that something that isnt true..
GT5 PROLOGUE ISNT AVAILABLE FOR 3 WEEKS STILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan @ Mar 24th 2008 10:23AM
Does anyone know if GT5 will still be available for $40 in stores? or is that for pre-orders only?
innewjersey @ Mar 24th 2008 12:35PM
"While the US doesn't get Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for another FEW WEEKS, ..." NOT NEXT WEEK!
Lars @ Mar 24th 2008 4:20PM
Don't care about GT5. I'm interested in Viking, but the videos I've seen looked fugly. Lack of detail, blah graphics, and buggy shadows... much like how Conan looked. Have they cleaned it up? Did the vids give an unfair impression? Thoughts?
