Sony confirms European platinum range but keeps schtum on details
While Jeux-France is reporting that a European platinum range will be arriving this Autumn, Sony refuses to say much about it. Jeux-France has suggested that MotorStorm, Heavenly Sword, Resistance: Fall of Man, Formula One Championship Edition, Lair, Folklore, Ridge Racer 7 and Genji: Days of the Blade will all be made available within the platinum range and will sell for €40 each (probably closer to £30 for the UK). A number of games have been re-released in Japan recently under a budget price in the "The Best" range which includes a few of the games listed above as well as Ninja Gaiden: Sigma and Gundam: Target in Sight. Sony refuses to comment on the specifics of a platinum range for Europe but continues to state that it will definitely happen one day. We just hope the box art won't look as disgusting as the Japanese budget range. Since when has the PS3 ever been associated with the color yellow? Bizarre design choice, that one.

Can ps3fanboy clarify when they say europe, do they mean all pal regions or just europe?
I hope these have yellow too, they looked wicked on the jap version. Cant wait to get me a cheap folklore (then make it up by DLC) argh!

Yechh, that's a total rip-off. Yesterday I saw Ridge Racer 7 in a store for exactly 40 EUR. Europe is never going to catch a break. (I also saw Patapon for 45 EUR, those monsters!)

Making an educated guess, Sony may just opt to brand North American games with the "Greatest Hits" title like they did the previous two generations.

I've seen already some heavy pricecuts for those games (+- 45euros)

No way will they be £30 in the UK, R:FOM (amongst others) is already less than £30 without the I'm-so-tight Platinum packaging. They'll be £20 like every other time we've had Platinum titles in the past.
AshStampede @ Mar 26th 2008 6:47AM
all those title are already £30 pounds, and pre-own like 20-25. If sony wants me to buy a new copy it had better be at £20. the 360 price of classics is 20. and despite what you might think when a new 360 and ps3 game comes out they are all at 49.99. for some reason higher up seem it fit to mark down the game on 360 to £39.99 and ps3 to £44.99.

yep its got to be 20.00 , most shops here in Liverpool are already selling Motorstorm , F1, Resistance etc for 25.00 new , so would be daft to then make a Platinum range and sell for more than the original.

I could care less what the box art looks like - lets just get some of these prices down.

Schtum? You mean "stumm" (silent), right? Didn't know german is that "cool" ;-) I got used to "spaz" (which would be written "Spaß" correctly) anyway.
stargateheaven @ Mar 26th 2008 7:19PM
the japanese ps2 "the best" range were yellow too.
i just hope to god they don't f*** up platinum covers.
please sony!
if you're going to celebrate the re release of the game, don't make it grey and ugly!!!
