Carry four extra memory sticks with UMEMD
We all know that just one memory stick isn't enough for our PSP gaming and multimedia needs. That's exactly why a group called Team Xecuter came up with this UMEMD carrying case that can hold up to four memory stick pro duos.
The case is shaped like a UMD. The reason for this is that it will save pocket space by fitting right inside the PSP where the usual UMD game would go. Only drawback is that the case is only good for PSP-1000s. Also, it is obviously not as useful if you're planning to play a UMD-based game. It is, however, great for playing PSN downloaded games saved on the memory stick, storing that humongous music library of yours, and/or keeping your entire photo album with you on the go.
So far, no price has been set. Team Xecuter plans on selling these little babies in two weeks time.

Agreed, pretty bad ass.

Using the UMD drive as a storage bin? Seems like a punchline to a joke or something.

It's just a carrying case? Like, as in, multiplying the volume of the 4 memory sticks by 10 or something? Why bother? I guess if you don't have a case for your PSP and just carry it in your pocket.... still, I think it's a bit of a waste.
Dahk @ Mar 27th 2008 11:11PM
the POINT is that you can dump it IN the UMD drive... thing in the PSP.
Pretty genius idea IMO.
and HOLY CRAP I thought he had 32GB sticks for a sec.

Sorry, I guess I always have a game in my UMD drive.

I'm not sure putting it in the UMD slot is a good idea. The PSP is a portable system, so if the catches on the memory stick holders aren't well designed and the memory sticks rattle lose inside the UMD slot while in transit, you could be in for some trouble.

I think it's pretty awesome. I made a sleeve that fits in the UMD slot out of a folded business card stapled together with another folded business card around it (so the staples wouldn't contact the inside parts of the PSP) to hold an extra memory stick and it has worked-- having the ability to hold 4 sticks is enough for me to purchase.

Looks like it's made exclusively for the homebrew scene....lol.

I was gonna say, it seems this is more for those of...
well those people that run custom firmware and don't have an 8GB stick, but instead run with a bunch of 1-4's...

What keeps you from using this in a PSP-2000?
oxology @ Mar 27th 2008 11:22PM
maybe the disc read is different and the drive would grind away at the holder

Sounds perfect for loading up movies on memory sticks when going on a trip, though the travel case I use for my PSP has space for memory sticks already.

Good for movies and music and PSone games .... but lets face it , its even better for pirates :(
SparkyJ23 @ Mar 28th 2008 6:00AM
You are aware that you can put OTHER things than homebrew on a memory stick right?
How much music do you have on your pc? I suppose encoding your own DVDs is probably past your intelligence as well....
There's a reason Sony made the storage hot swappable - use it FFS

Of course, the PSP is absolutely no competitor to the iPod for music playback. So why would I use that over an iPod?
This designers likely had pirates in mind with this product. Hell I've got a modded PSP but I still only need 1 4gb memory stick.
Must be some mad pirates out there who need more!
koehler83 @ Mar 28th 2008 7:48AM
Not only pirates play games from their memory sticks. Any game can ripped legally from their disc as can music from CDs.
Games play faster from the memory stick than from the UMD, its as simple as that.
ryan @ Mar 28th 2008 7:54AM
Plus you don't have the annoying sound of the UMD spinning up every three minutes.
Dersch @ Mar 28th 2008 10:30AM
You can load your UMD game to a stick?
is there a certain program to do that? pretty easy?
Michael K. @ Mar 28th 2008 3:57PM
that just seems like a bad idea
Alien @ Mar 29th 2008 6:16AM
Sparky : cant you read ?!?!? Ive just wrote that you can store music and movies to , but who the hell are you kidding . I think everyone knows how bad piracy is on the PSP ...
