If you think you can get away with not purchasing
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue because you're so sure that as soon as it's released, the whole game will get a release date a couple of months later, you're wrong. On a
recent PlayStation Blog post, associate producer at SCEA Chris Hinojosa-Miranda responded to comments about the game, saying that "
GT5 is still about a year away. You should just decide now to buy [
Prologue], enjoy it, go online and race against anyone and everyone, rank number one worldwide, get the girl (or guy) and become the most popular kid in town." But what if we already are the most popular kid in town? What then, Mr. Hinojosa-Miranda?

well we have waited this long:)
At least we will have prologue:)
Im working on the girl lol
LJ @ Mar 27th 2008 10:53AM
SUCKS! Prologue looks awesome... but i don't want a DEMO! I know, i know... it has so much content and its even almost to-good-to-be a demo but still i want the complete game!
Morpheus @ Mar 27th 2008 10:58AM
i know mate but its the best we have at the moment
Darren Tilley @ Mar 27th 2008 11:06AM
What exactly is your criteria for a full game? If GT5:Prologue wasn't called Prologue, it would be a bargain by any other measure.
Popfrogs @ Mar 27th 2008 10:59AM
Seriously, what kind of man has a dashed last name? That sort of thing is usually reserved for pretentious and rich females.
Ramon Caballero @ Mar 27th 2008 11:17AM
Popfrogs: Latin people, Spanish people have 2 last names and we "have" to dash them because English people think our first last name is our middle name and that...that!..Really sucks
-Ramon Caballero-Escamilla :)
(If I could change my name easily to Ramon Caballero, I would)
I know Indians have a similar problem
Popfrogs @ Mar 27th 2008 11:26AM
Interesting, because my wife is from Thailand and they only have 2 names there. When she applied for her SSN she moved her old last name to become her middle name. Still no hyphen though. :)
buzzbean @ Mar 27th 2008 12:13PM
What kind of idiot calls a hyphenated name a dashed name?? Your mastery of the English language betrays your narrow world view.
Popfrogs @ Mar 27th 2008 12:22PM
Man buzzbean, all you ever do is whine on every site about remote play, now you're criticizing my "world view" and my use of English. Beat it troll, you're annoying the adults.
Ramon Caballero @ Mar 27th 2008 12:38PM
@buzzbean: According to my dictionary dash also means:
Verb: dash: 6.- add an enlivening or altering element to; :blue paint dashed with white" (hypernym) mix, mix in
So dashed my last names seems to be appropriate English; and I know you were replying to popfrogs, I replied to him to "teach" him with respect other cultural stuff.
I think you fit perfectly in the troll category.
BTW: I don't know English as much as I want.
buzzbean @ Mar 27th 2008 1:01PM
"All" is a pretty big statement, I could easily say you always talk about the RRoD, (i.e. a couple of times). All I was saying that it sounds pretty ignorant to judge someones manhood by how they spell their name, (which has little to do with the post and is a troll behavior, as long as we are throwing stones). Plus the comment on rich and pretentious women.
Ramon: your right your approach was more tactful. But it is a Hyphenated last name, (if your looking to improve your English)
James Gnann @ Mar 27th 2008 1:12PM
If _you're_ looking
lol
Silverbullet767 @ Mar 27th 2008 11:06AM
Whoever didn't see this coming a mile off should have went to specsavers.
I predict a March 14th release......2048
elephant_stone @ Mar 27th 2008 11:23AM
My copy has been dispatched....Im just waiting for it to drop through me door - cant wait.....screw the PSN version.
Anyway - one thing I want to know is - will you be able to carry over your stats/ranking/profile from GT5:p to GT5??
Da @ Mar 27th 2008 6:46PM
I was told by the EB clerk that I could.. but he also told me this was just an extended demo, only had a handful of cars and one track.
Just a heads up, there is a 4GB install (which takes about 20 minutes), then a required update that took me about 5 minutes to download and 15 minutes to install. The thing that scares me, is that the update warned that I *could* lose my game statistics, but would retain my credits. Not an issue at the moment, but if future updates follow this, then that is very very bad.
Also, the printed manual has some pretty funny advice about online play, it suggests staying away from cars that are lagging.
El Dub @ Mar 27th 2008 11:26AM
If you're already the most popular kid in town odds are you aren't reading "the official Playstation blog."
:)
LJ @ Mar 27th 2008 11:33AM
Hahahahaha... right. But do not underestimate us casual gamers out there.
rockon @ Mar 27th 2008 12:11PM
just got my copy of gt:5 prologue... oh yer!
kcmanuel @ Mar 27th 2008 12:11PM
GT5:P most probably will hold me off.
It's enough of a "Game" and not so much as a demo that it should keep me busy until the full release of the game. The online component of it is what will most likely keep me busy till the full release.
I scheduled myself to work Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to get my work week out of the way for the release of GT5:P. So I'm thinking I have the rest of the week to play, but then realised, I have a Pathophysiology Exam and a Pharm exam that thursday and friday! God definitely has a sense of humor! =)
Khamikazi @ Mar 27th 2008 12:44PM
I still cannot believe they are charging for this. Yes, it has alot of cars, but from what I remember it doesnt have very much else. Its called pretty much a demo by everyone, and its something you pay for. Just doesnt sit well with me, and it seems more like a way to strain you for more money since they know they arent going to be done anytime soon.
Da @ Mar 27th 2008 6:48PM
Idiot.
Maybe you shoud go out and get a job instead of posting here, that way you'll be able to afford this budget priced game.
RMF @ Mar 27th 2008 1:08PM
Just got an email to say that my copy was despatched. :D
kcmanuel @ Mar 27th 2008 1:57PM
I'm sure it does benefit both PD and Sony financially to release prologue, but I'm willing to pay forty dollars for prologue, and as long as the money goes into producing the final release then that's fine by me.
Chances are good that those putting up the money for prologue will likely purchase the final release of the game when it does come out in a year.
I'm willing to pay to have a feel for the final release, and experiencing the online racing feature. If anything, giving PD one year's worth of online experience and data with gamers playing the game online, is a larger sample than what they would have in house, the end result should be good for the Final release. It pays out both ways, good data for the developers and it gives a good number of fans an early feel for the game.
Those that feel they shouldn't have to pay for Prologue, well, you're given a choice and you don't have to. At least those who are willing to pay a little for prologue also have a choice to do so.
Popfrogs @ Mar 27th 2008 2:18PM
Plus, maybe in a year Logitech will release a better steering wheel package for it.
Phizzy @ Mar 27th 2008 4:47PM
Gah, it appears my comment was swearfiltered. Could you PLEASE turn that off, guys?
Like I was trying to say, I received my copy of Prologue this morning, sat through the install (which is obviously necessary to keep load times equal to the downloadable version), then it told me that there was an update available. The update seems to be incredibly large, or their servers might just be slow because it took at least 100 years to download 25% of it.
That was where the downloading stopped, though, because I'm on the most unstable network in the world. And since I don't want to play a non-up-to-date version, I'll have to leave it until next week. Sadface.
LT.ShinySides @ Mar 27th 2008 9:31PM
..If Prolouge is a demo, its the best demo there has ever been!! I cant stop playing it...
btw its a 6gig install ...and with the update thing if it gives an error just keep doing it, I'm pretty sure it continues from where it stoped..i tryed 6 times and it never completly finished and on the 6th time it just installed...
gt5 will be well worth the wait and im sure there will be DLC for prolouge :) ..cars anyway
btw ppl keep it civil on the net and stop using ppl as bumpers!!!!!!!! damn annoying!!
Fordi @ Mar 27th 2008 11:41PM
The image that is attached to this article looks like a photo of the car but a dodgy ps2 rendering of the people.
shuref00t @ Mar 28th 2008 1:06AM
Wishful thinking, but it'd be really nice if those of us who purchase Prologue could get a discount on the final retail version of GT5.
elephant_stone @ Mar 28th 2008 8:47AM
@ 15
Have you ever known a games shop clerk to be right?
GT5:p has 6 tracks, and 71 cars - so thats wrong advice already!
The GT5:concept free download that was released when the PS3 launched had one car and a handful of cars.
jeeeeez
