Who at Sony made the decision to put Reel Fishing on the PSN? Seriously....Sony is smarter than that I would've thought....all the other titles to have come out were what I would call "classic PS games", but this game is just a joke and Sony better learn from this mistake....
Other than that, I'm jealous that I won't be able to grab Prologue for another week and a half!
chowley @ Mar 28th 2008 12:55PM
Ehm isnt that like £6/€10 euro more for GT5P than it is in shops for the bluray? Anyway at that price, no chance im buying a cut down game. I lose more faith in Sony every week. You can order the BRD off the net for £18 ffs.
Simon @ Mar 28th 2008 1:14PM
In Denmark it's 330 DKK online and 300 in stores on disc.
I obviously got the disc version, and can't see whay anyone would pay more money to not have the disc. Maybe to not risk the dangers of leaving the couch?
Steve Childs @ Mar 28th 2008 1:05PM
Good God, £24.99 for the PSN version of GT5P!?
I just bought the Blu Ray version from Blockbuster for £19.99.
What's the point of having games on the PSN when they cost more than the Blu Ray version!
Mutsch @ Mar 28th 2008 1:17PM
Hey, it looks like you guys finally found the € for the European currency. Well, it just took a year or so. Congrats.
Popfrogs @ Mar 28th 2008 4:00PM
Yeah since this is a European website and everything. *rolleyes*
Christian @ Mar 28th 2008 1:45PM
Good shop update this week, looking forward to testing the UEFA game. The pricing for GT5 download is a bit weird, but who cares, I got it in the post yesterday anyway.
Rory Hurren @ Mar 28th 2008 1:56PM
Its because the rrp is £24.99. Sony has to charge the rrp on the site so no to annoy retailers. They got away with it with warhawk as it had a headset with it.
Steve Childs @ Mar 29th 2008 7:25AM
I'd like to know if this is just rumor or fact. I suspect its the former.
Its like CD sales online vs retail, if online retailers can sell download versions of CDs for less than you buy them in the shop, why can't Sony sell download versions of the games for less.
Same with Movie downloads.
The answer is that Sony wants to rip all of us off. The GT5P download on the PSN should have been £14.99.
The have no physical medium to produce, only the bandwidth bill, which in no way comes to £14.99 for 1.8GB of bandwidth.
They need to wake up and realise that if game downloads of the PSN has a future (for full games like this, not the mini 'Pain' style games), then they need to offer the games at discount over the shop prices.
I mean, its not even as if the download has everything the BR version has, it has no movies and even lacks the 'Making Of' movie completely.
Not that it really matters to me anyway as I bought the BR version, but had it been available to download for £14.99, I'd have got that instead.
Chowley @ Mar 28th 2008 3:28PM
Seems silly to me that anyone would be annoyed sorry I cant believe it. Afterall theres no packaging and no disc. Thats the point of DLC its cheaper and more convenient. If what you say is true im embarassed for Sony.
elephant_stone @ Mar 28th 2008 2:00PM
England isnt even in Euro 2008 :'(
Decent update IMO
I dunno...you cant please everyone.
flora-16 @ Mar 29th 2008 10:59AM
please note, UK fanboys..you can get GT5 Prologue much cheaper than on the store (and on bluray too!) Simply print off the Amazon price and take it to your local PC WORLD who will pricematch and knock 10% off making the game £17.29!!!
Eggy @ Mar 28th 2008 2:26PM
Great first comment. *sigh*
neilspinney @ Mar 28th 2008 2:40PM
well sorry to bring everyone this good news but i'm not to sure how long it will last, but I thought what the hell I would buy the download as my little girl loves to eject my bluray disk and have a good chew on them!, Right so I goto buy the game on the psn store and I only had £2.50 left on my account and it never asked me to add funds so I just got GT5P for £2.50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats right GT5P for £2.50!!
one happy chappy!!!! lol
ps I wonder how long PSN take to sort it out after I post this!!!??
Dark Archon @ Mar 29th 2008 6:32AM
You are aware of the fact that they automatically charge your credit card if you're too low on funds to buy stuff? You don't even get a reminder. (You can change that preference in you PlaystationNetwork settings, though).
dadanman @ Mar 28th 2008 3:05PM
Um, can we say 6 free down loads? Remember you can download off the net six time. You and 6 mates would drop that down to nothing each.
Tranando @ Mar 28th 2008 3:08PM
I picked up GT:P for £19.99 in Woolworths in the UK. Why would you download a lesser version, and pay more???
(By lesser, I mean no "making of video").
Sony need to be sensible about their download pricing, as it's currently laughable. This should have been £20 on PSN and £24.99 RRP...
Chowley @ Mar 28th 2008 3:30PM
Oh and interestingly enough....... £25 = €31.55. So why does England get it €8.45 cheaper than we do? Good god Sony keep this up, well done.
No chance im touching this game on BRD or DL now. I hope it doesnt happen with SOCOM Confrontation :(
Groundskeeper Willie @ Mar 28th 2008 3:44PM
Very nice update, I'm sure most people can find something they want to download. I'll definitely be getting the Euro2008 demo and the UT3 maps.
Wayne @ Mar 28th 2008 3:45PM
All I want to know is: Where is the GT TV Content?
We have nothing but an intro video here in Oz. I thought there was going to be content on the disc (saving my download quota)...
xrich @ Mar 28th 2008 4:46PM
can you game share the psn version? i doubt you can but can anyone confirm?
Jay @ Mar 28th 2008 6:02PM
GT5P online racing is diabolically bad.
Did you download the NASCAR demo? Dodgy steering, looks like the car and road are separate? Yes? Well add that plus cars wobbling (seriously) and "elastic banding" down the track and you've got it. Frikkin' awful.
Steve Childs @ Mar 29th 2008 8:00AM
I've just spent the past couple of hours racing online in GT5P, its very, very smooth experience, except when you get nerfed up the rear by someone who doesn't know how to brake!
Thankfully it doesn't happen all that often.
Brodie-san @ Mar 28th 2008 6:33PM
@Mutsch
After a lot of wailing from a select few of us Jem kindly started adding the Euro currency to PSN pricings from about ... oooh ... I'd say the start of February. He did forget last week but I'm sure it was just an oversight.
Mentality @ Mar 28th 2008 7:43PM
I don't know what bugs me more, the fact that they havnt put the GTA trailer on there despite the fact the americans have got it (ok I watched it already and its available online but its not the point) or the fact that we STILL HAVNT got the free GH3 addons that the Americans have had for so long now, never heard of better late than never Sony, it's confuses me that you can't put the free ones on but you always have time to put the ones we have to actually pay for on there.
This post is nothing against the Americans themselves, I like you guys, I'm just jealous that you get more Sony love than us Europeans.
Also Sony don't give me any of this Language barrier crap, I speak the same language as the Americans being from the UK and I'm sure I could cope with a few different spellings in my updates. Get it sorted.
rockmanjoey) @ Mar 29th 2008 6:17AM
I agree 100% with your comment. Theres multiplatform content which has the exact same content as both versions yet they're released on Xbox LIVE in the UK but not on the UK on the PLAYSTATION Network.
Puzzle Fighter, GHIII DLC and Rocketman: Axis of Evil are good examples which are already out on overseas PS Stores but not available on the UK Store but also available on Xbox LIVE in the UK.
Sort it out Sony! Apart from that, it was a neat update this week! Reel Fishing a classic?? GET GAMES FROM YOUR PLATINUM COLLECTION AND RELEASE THEM ON THE STORE!!
wilboss @ Mar 29th 2008 9:55AM
You've hit the nail on the head there, it's almost 2 weeks since St Patrick's Day and the free Dropkick Murphys DLC still hasn't appeared. No language or any other conversion required, why are we waiting!?!
(IRE)Wolfman @ Mar 29th 2008 8:15AM
£32 for me, and thats from Gamestop, HMV, Game were all the same. Thats €39.99 in Ireland. I love how we get ripped off.
You lot in the UK could have bought the game twice.
setarcosp @ Mar 29th 2008 10:28AM
has anyone who got the bd found the making of video yet? (i'm guessing it unlocks after you get bronze or better in all the races under events but i've not got the f340 yet)
IanC @ Mar 29th 2008 12:44PM
The Eye of Judgment content is very small (only a few hundred KB).
Im guessing this because most (all?) of the content is contained in the patch that just came out.
