Rumor: Dualshock 3s available in Europe on May 2nd
Dutch site PlayStation Only has heard from a "reliable source" that Dualshock 3 controllers will finally be made available in Europe on the 2nd of May this year. There's no word on pricing and the date hasn't been confirmed by Sony, so this is firmly a rumor for now. With America's April release date fast approaching, Europeans are itchy to find out when they'll finally be able to get their hands on them. Most games (certainly, all high profile and first party titles) all support rumble out of the box, or via a mandatory patch so the earlier the controllers are released, the better.

...or you could get a japanese one off amazon right now
DaveC @ Mar 28th 2008 4:31PM
I still can't see why they had to be released now and not at the same time as Japan.
HAAS599 @ Mar 28th 2008 4:38PM
probably has something to do with supply and demand
shagrath @ Mar 28th 2008 4:39PM
Rumored at 60€ here in France (95$)...

^ holy hell! That's crazy. I won't be buying one of these when they come out unless I can get one cheap. Screw paying $55-60 for a controller...that's ridiculous.
motorer @ Mar 28th 2008 5:08PM
lol tell that to microsoft. $50 for a wireless controller and $20 for a battery pack and charging cable?? that's just funny.
Daniel @ Mar 28th 2008 5:11PM
LOL yeah, theirs are ridiculous too.
admonrain @ Mar 28th 2008 5:08PM
does anyone know the specifications for these controllers? wanna know how heavy they are compared to sixaxis
Jason B. @ Mar 28th 2008 5:12PM
Pick up a Dualshock 2 and pick up a Sixaxis.
Fane @ Mar 28th 2008 5:19PM
I read a piece (I think on GamePro) which said they were 40% heavier. Also, the plastic on the DS3 is opaque rather than translucent.
Eggy @ Mar 28th 2008 5:33PM
Finally, don't care about the price. I'm usually able to get things cheaper (legally) anyway.
kultyper @ Mar 28th 2008 5:56PM
im probably going to pick up a satin silver DS3, but does anyone know if there is a difference between the Japan version and the US version??
RagingStormX @ Mar 28th 2008 6:33PM
^ yeah the writing on the sticker in the back will be in english and not in Japanese in the US version.

Bought mine off ebay, £35 delivered from japan bout 3 months ago. only game iv been playin for the last 2 months is COD4 which doesn't support it though lol... great for uncharted though
bigd7387 @ Mar 28th 2008 8:40PM
I've been using my DS3 for about 3 months now and going from the Sixaxis to the DS3 was Fantastic. Better feel, more weight and having rumble back just felt right. I wish someone would post up a new list of games that are compatable with the DS3, the list I have is from October 07' and want some more rumble games but don't know which ones support it. Call of Duty 4 should have had it, period, but at least Resistance has it now.
PFC Hudson @ Mar 29th 2008 4:32AM
If it's a help to anyone the following games are all from my own collection, are UK versions and have rumble:
Motorstorm (Via patch)
Resistance (Via patch)
Uncharted
Ratchet & Clank
Timeshift
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Lego Star Wars Complete Saga
Unreal Tournament 3
Burnout Paradise
The Darkness

i live in switzerland and saw a dualshock 3 controller in a media markt store in fribourg.
nerthazun @ Mar 29th 2008 2:41PM
really? dammit!!!
coz just yesterday, I received my DS3 from Playasia, was pricey!
pescheLi @ Mar 29th 2008 3:22PM
yes! i was really surprised! because the text on the controller was japanese and not german or french. i think they imported those from somewhere. i bought mine on ebay 1 month ago for a price of 70 SFR or something around that. And the dualshock 3 in the media markt was about 80 SFR or so. Next time i make a picuture of it. Are you from Switzerland too?
