It's another opinion piece much like when we asked how your
Warhawk purchase would go down. The rules are simple: the Poll Police met up with the Karma Kops for coffee (they're not the best at spelling) and discussed how most people would get their
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue fix. We know
over a million Blu-ray copies were reserved in Europe, but how about the rest of the world? Are you more interesting in downloading the game or buying the Blu-ray?
We don't have much of a personal take on this one, because it is a tough call.
GT5:P isn't quite a full game, but it's so much more than a demo. Because of that, buying it in either form is roughly equal in our minds because it's not full price and it's not a full game. But it sort of is. It's a conundrum, but as long as we get to play it, we're happy. Are we happy about
last week's poll results? Take the jump and find out.

It's hard to describe what makes the downloadable content for these games different than something like
Warhawk,
Motorstorm, and
Folklore. We suppose all these listed games are of a similar genre and all these listed games have weekly content added to enhance their song lists. Maybe we're making too many stipulations in our polls. All-inclusive polls are more annoying, though, because there are so many games to list. But the clear victor is
Rock Band, with the voices of nearly half the voters. After that, people claim the three games are over-hyped and mediocre. Who knows! Thanks for voting!

It's all about an unfounded rumor at this point isn't it?
Nate @ Mar 30th 2008 10:06PM
The Playstation PC Store website has been hacked. There's a big difference between that and the "PSN" getting hacked. It's been fixed.
Liquid Ocelot (call me Liquid) @ Mar 30th 2008 6:50PM
PSN HAD been hacked. They didn't talk about it.
Anyway, i already preordered mine off Amazon using my $5 coupon. :)
xillentz @ Mar 30th 2008 6:50PM
i bought the jpn version almost 2 months back
Haiddasalami @ Mar 30th 2008 6:57PM
There should have been an option called "Glad to have the choice between a bluray dvd or download"
playcrackthesky @ Mar 30th 2008 7:11PM
Everyone says the BR was the 'no-brainer' choice.
How so? I split my purchase of GT5:P on the psn with 4 other people, meaning I paid only $15. (AUD) instead of the full 60.
Now tell me, whats the no brainer?
Hyams @ Mar 30th 2008 7:19PM
It's cheaper on blu-ray in many shops and comes with some extra video content? For people who aren't going to split it with three other people the disc is the way to go.
grief @ Mar 30th 2008 8:52PM
People are reporting that you need to be signed in as the person who bought the game to play it.
I believe the No Brainer is to buy it fairly.
JKPierce @ Mar 30th 2008 9:30PM
'Fair' is subjective. Especially in the case of the PSN, where content is either made specific to one username or available for sharing.
Examples include Tekken 5: DR Online (restricted to one user), versus the original Tekken 5, Rock Band songs, et cetera (downloadable on up to five separate systems).
El perron @ Mar 30th 2008 7:34PM
I still find it funny, how people were actually comparing forza 2 with grand turismo. LOL
EZ_HumanAbattoir @ Mar 30th 2008 7:34PM
Download it off the PSN and share the cost with a few friends then share it =D
drdre74 @ Mar 31st 2008 11:09AM
Thats not gonna work. If you play it your friend cant play it for 24 hours after you play it. Plus you have to be logged in to that account to play the game unlike other PSN games. This isnt worth downloading, Get the blue ray.
Livi70590 @ Mar 30th 2008 7:36PM
Prepear to be dissapointed, the penalty system is awful, and the online mode couldn't be more broken if it had been made by thylidamide lepers.
Anthony E. @ Mar 30th 2008 7:42PM
when are we getting the PSN network cards??
Galley @ Mar 30th 2008 7:48PM
BD, FTW!
aaronon @ Mar 30th 2008 8:26PM
The online could be more broken! Not by much though - no friend invite?! What is that about? I'm bewildered.
J. @ Mar 30th 2008 8:52PM
Is it true that if I buy gran turismo 5 prologue, I can download the rest of it on Playstation Network for about 10 dollars?
Liquid Ocelot (call me Liquid) @ Mar 30th 2008 8:55PM
Can't tell if you're serious. No.
Joe @ Mar 30th 2008 9:42PM
I am not trying to be a pain in the butt but is there any chance you can make the poll stay at PS3fanboy. Because the other fanboy sites like Nintendo Wii Fanboy when you put in your answer the site updates you with your answer so you stay on the site you are at plus then you have no pop ups.
For me I am going to wait to buy the real game.
Nate @ Mar 30th 2008 10:08PM
I'll get it on PSN. Anything that lets me not have to switch disks around is good in my opinion. Plus, depending on how the sharing works, I may be able to share it with friends and split the cost.
fatherb @ Mar 31st 2008 12:11AM
I agree I am too skinny to get up and change the disc all the time let me fatten up sony. The replayability of games on the harddrive is exponentially greater than me convencing myself to get up, pull the case out of the game I am currently playing (ie. whatever I last bought), eject the disc, place it in the case, put it on the shelf, take out the case of the game i want to play, open it, pull the disc out, put it in the system, close the case, put it back on the shelf, sit on the couch, look in front of me and notice I left the controller on the floor next to the system, get up and get it, sit back down on the couch, then play for 10 min to realize i do not want to play anymore. Yeah, I am lazy. It is my entertainment time Iand I am aloud to be as lazy as I want.
TinyTim121 @ Mar 30th 2008 10:30PM
I've got mine on blu-ray and it's one hell of an amazing game/demo/mini-game/taster/teaser/whateveryouwannacallit
This is quite an interesting poll though, because as most people (59% at writing) are choosing the Blu-ray disk, it shows that the world isn't quite ready for digital downloads yet
DrunkRaba @ Mar 31st 2008 1:18AM
BD for me. i always prefer to have a hard copy for when a hard drive inevitably fries.
jos @ Mar 31st 2008 2:04AM
Got mine on BR as it was released a day earlier (26th) than on PSN. (Actual 2 days as PSN update was delayed).
Also I thought I was getting the making-of video when getting the BD, but apparently the Scandinavian version doesn't include this :-(
With the HD install and update download I don't see any advantage of having it on BR, so in retrospect I wish I'd got it on PSN. Though I actually got it cheaper than PSN so still happy :)
(ire)wolfman @ Mar 31st 2008 6:26AM
Same here Irish version bought on 28th. only the opening video on gttv
phigginson @ Mar 31st 2008 5:29AM
BR for me, just because you can't trade in your old/unwanted PSN purchases... no matter how good this is i end up selling it/trading it in 3months/6months/whenGT5comesOut
JerJerBinks @ Mar 31st 2008 6:30AM
Neither for me. Call me when they release a full game.
Pax Pacis @ Mar 31st 2008 6:49AM
BD for me, I learned my lesson after the Warhawk psn version.
I end up buying the disc version only to discover even the Booster Pack I bought does not work in the disc version so now I have a PSN version of WH with Omega Down and a Disc version Without Omega down.. this really sucks I now have to buy the Omega Pack again..!
Kspraydad @ Mar 31st 2008 7:27AM
To everyone saying they are going to 'share' the cost.
You can only use the DL version while signed in with the account that bought the game. You can only sign in on a different machine once every 24 hours.
So doesn't this mean if you share this game only one of the 5 people is going to be able to share the game in a 24 hour period and that your trophy system for home is screwed as it is all played under one log on id?
Hell, from what I know even if I DL and want to share locally with my own kids on our ONE machine, we can't...it'll all be under one logon.
BD for me.
mills.edward @ Mar 31st 2008 7:33AM
Considering the fact that the blu-ray is cheaper than the download almost everywhere, I don't see many people going for the download (unless they're bone idle and can't be bothered to make the trip to the shop or wait for an online shop to deliver.) Sony should have made the download around the £10/£15 mark to make it more inviting.
JaffaBoy @ Mar 31st 2008 8:00AM
BD for me... like having something physical to look at ;-)
Should be cheaper to d/load than buying the BD, saves them having to press the disk, packaging etc etc, so why the hell is the other way around????
mrmaranello @ Mar 31st 2008 8:20AM
Indeed, the time penaltys are awfull. Online is not good. I expected perfection, now its not even good.
IanC @ Mar 31st 2008 11:17AM
Got it on blu-ray. Wish I didnt - just like previous games in the series im feeling very "meh" over it. Plus the fact you still have to install over 5gb of data on the hard drive is really, really stupid.
Plus as others have said the online is broken, and what happen to exclusive video content on the blu-ray? Unless its unlockable im not seeing any (and the opening video DOES NOT COUNT)
The Aggie CEO @ Mar 31st 2008 12:07PM
I'm renting from Gamefly and since they send it out the day before its release I get a BRAND NEW GAME!!!
Then I buy it for the PRE-PLAYED Price and save like $10........ROFLMAO!!!!
I did this with 4 other games
Michael @ Mar 31st 2008 1:30PM
Do you get the case and manual if you do that?
The Aggie CEO @ Apr 1st 2008 2:52PM
sure do..........unlike Gamestop you ALWAYS get that.........
Michael @ Mar 31st 2008 1:27PM
If you don't get it on Disk then its yours forever even if you wanted to sell or trade it. Forget about it.
SuhasRao @ May 29th 2008 9:09AM
