Broken Review's PSP toughness test is hard to watch
The Slim & Lite model scored a modest 65% in the Broken Review test, with the unprotected screen and flimsy UMD drive letting it down, somewhat. The moral of the story being that if you have a PSP Slim & Lite then make sure you buy some screen protectors or a keep it in a case. That, or don't throw it from a moving vehicle. If you're ready for some more PSP based masochism then step this way and watch the rest of the Broken Review videos.

Mary, protect my PSP

A fallacious and likely agenda-laden 'report'. If I want to hear news, I don't turn on Jerry Springer. Representing these twits as anything more than attention grabbers is not doing anyone any favors.
My PSP-1000 and 2000 have both been tanks. I've dropped my 1000 on concrete twice, hardwood flooring and impacted it hard enough to eject UMD, battery and MemoryStick! My 2000 is more prone to scratching and paint wear (because it's painted) but other than that, it's been equally durable as it has been dropped a few times.
The old myth about the PSP being weak and fragile is just that - a myth, perpetrated by those who would see the device fail. End of story.

WhA!!!!!! NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!~!!!!!!!! IF YOU GUYS DID'NT WANT THE THING WHY NOT SPEND 4$$$ AND PUT IT ON EBAY!!!!!
oh that's the slim and lite ,please i dropped my(psp 1001)psp down the stairs,on the sidewalk ,on the floor of a starbucks ,off a swing(all this was on accident people so don't start thinking)
on the street after it fell out of my pant pocket while riding a bike and so far only one barely noticable scratch and it still operates like on the day it was first activated.
dude899 @ Mar 31st 2008 9:23PM
ouch...sigh the psp had seen at least 1 UMD before its death
Jacksons @ Apr 1st 2008 5:48AM
Ever hear of 1x playback? I can understand doing slow-motion for the impact, but for the whole scene? A little strange.
I can relate to the the screen being hella scratch prone. They used some real low density plastic (moronic, in my opinion), but at least screen protectors are cheap, plentiful and effective.
pixelator @ Apr 1st 2008 12:02PM
You apparently haven't seen your average DS owned by the under-12 set. Scratch-city, and that's a touchscreen!
Anyone who scratches up their PSP screen excessively is not taking any precautions. That said, a screen protector is common sense for any such device (including the DS).
Jacksons @ Apr 1st 2008 12:29PM
I've seen plenty of scratched up DS's. But what exactly does that have to do with the PSP's easily marred screen?
Tacoslave @ Mar 31st 2008 11:04PM
how can someone actually do that i had to stop after the PSP fell down the balcony.
Dehshizknight @ Mar 31st 2008 10:23PM
Lol, it looks like that chick was trying not to throw it too hard...
Anthony @ Apr 1st 2008 5:49AM
My Lord, I was really crying. I hope they at LEAST got the Memory Stick out. They should have posted that on DS Fanboy, so we dont have to see it (and show a DS getting destroyed in this site, too. lol). If it was MY PSP, I'd kick their ass (even if it was a girl too).
lakaihigh @ Mar 31st 2008 11:31PM
that's sick!!! (and not in a good way) What kind of twisted sick people would do that to their beautiful PSP?!?!? I'll never let them borrow my PSP. i'd get it back in a body bag. good choice of music though, can't go wrong with the Godfather OST.
94Taurus owner @ Apr 1st 2008 7:38AM
More like a ziplock bag.

I cried.

This is just upsetting.
Nate @ Apr 1st 2008 9:45AM
"It's not as flimsy as people think, and under normal conditions we can't see it having any problems."
I think the 65% was unwarranted. They kicked it down a flight of stairs, spilled a full cup of hot tea on it, stepped on it, dropped it onto concrete, dropped it off a motorcycle going 20mph... and it still worked fine. I think the only major thing I see wrong is how easily the screen is scratched. It worked up until the extreme testing of throwing it against a concrete wall. I wouldn't expect any device to survive that.
I'm actually very happy with the results they've shown, as they said, it feels like it won't be that durable, but it actually holds up pretty well.
Jacksons @ Apr 1st 2008 12:36PM
Yeah, it survived all of the real world tests. If I'm throwing it against walls, out windows and under motorcycles, I've got other problems. It's a game system after all, not a baseball.
Nighthawkjf @ Apr 1st 2008 10:56AM
BBBMMMMMM... I think I'm going to be sick.
...j/p
farfisa @ Apr 1st 2008 10:58AM
Let's just talk production values, k? If their thing is slow motion, they should really get a camera that captures slow motion like this:

Jacksons @ Apr 1st 2008 12:38PM
Having to watch each test scene in slow motion was just obnoxious.
emirabal @ Apr 1st 2008 11:23AM
OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
pixelator @ Apr 1st 2008 2:16PM
Why is it so many people claim the PSP is weak and fragile, yet time and again when we see these videos of attention-grabbing punks smashing them, they have to do something like hurl it at a stone wall or run over it with a car to finally break the thing..?
pixelator @ Apr 1st 2008 2:47PM
Unless this is an April Fool's joke, of course... Hard to tell.
Lars @ Apr 1st 2008 2:49PM
That chick is hardcore! ...kinda turned me on a little.
Nate @ Apr 1st 2008 4:13PM
I'll admit the DS is more durable than the PSP... hell, the thing comes in its own case, basically. For a kid, I'd definitely recommend the DS, but for an adult who isn't going to go throwing it down stairs, a PSP is definitely the way to go. They showed it could survive most common problems, such as spilled liquids and being dropped even onto concrete. Really, anything more than that is just ridiculous.
Neil @ Apr 1st 2008 5:28PM
What a waste. *sigh*
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Apr 1st 2008 6:50PM
Wow that was pretty harsh. A depressing video indeed. :(
- And was I the only one that noticed they used the intro song from the Hitman movie?
ChewyChomp @ Apr 14th 2008 6:40PM
Hilarious movie.. lol.
CH32 @ May 7th 2008 8:09PM
Stupid girl, she can't even break a psp properly
