A solemn look at America's MGS4 box

amazon.com has just posted an image which looks like the official US box art for Metal Gear Solid 4. It's a rather classy affair, zooming on Snake's aged face. He looks rather contemplative, his eyes filled with a tiredness only years of war and fighting can create. The colorless box art reminds us that this will be a serious affair, one we're sure will play with our delicate heartstrings quite dramatically.

For those with bigger wallets, you may be interested in MGS4's limited edition box, available exclusively at GameStop.

lol....I hear you. I've almost wanted to foreswear buying my stuff there, but irritatingly enough, they always get the goods first. Plus these LE exclusives only go to them...-_-

Is that some sort of exclusive contract with game distributors? I've never understood why Target/Circuit City/Best Buy don't get first day dibs as well.

Then again, there's always Fry's too...it's just a bit out of the way though. Lesser of the two evils, I suppose.

just order it from the site. if you do overnight shipping u will get it the same day the stores sell em. plus u will also get it sooner then everyone else depending on when it gets there lol.

I don't like it. All the previous box arts have a very distinctive illustration style, why throw that away.

If Konami want to attract the attention of people unfamiliar with the series this doesn't stand out on the shelf or offers any clue of the epic and intelligent themes.

i have to disagree. all of the previous arts i felt didnt sell the game (those new to MGS) very well. It was hard to instantly notice what the game could potentially be.

Although this art doesnt reveal much either, you definetly get a chance to familiar yourself with something from the game - the main protag himself. It should be interesting since you dont get very many old men playing super hero.

I really would have preferred a box art similar to the pre-order DVD. I don't really like this box art because it doesn't really seem like box art at all. It looks more like a picture topped with a few labels. It should have been drawn like all the other MGS boxes. It's also kind of creepy, like an old person just staring at you.

Ordered the special edition available her in NZ last week... The first PS3 title I have bothered to pre (I tend to be more of an xbox fan personally) and so glad I did. I hope this is the box art our special edition comes equipped with! Awesomeness!

No, Foxdie has nothing to do with his rapid aging. It's that he was made in the early 70's, when the technology wasn't very advanced.

i am not a big fan of MGS4!
i might get it, but not right away, i got money saved up already for GTA IV and A dualshock 3 controller!! i'll buy it in the summer.. if the ratings are good of MGS4

3 pages of comments & no one realizes that the way Snake is facing us on the cover, we should not be seeing his regular eye. The Solid Eye attachment should be there.

only going by the notion that its not removable & Kojima marketing flipped the image to make him look more human & appealing. till that is answered. thank Kojima marketing for screwing up a big detail & screwing us out of the awesome Euro cover art.
