Firmware version 3.95 now available [Update]
That's right, another firmware update - and less than a month after the last one, too. Whether you're a fan of frequent updates or not you won't be able to enjoy this latest revision to its fullest without access to a PS3. A miniature update, by all accounts, that adds two PS3-based features to your favorite handheld. Eric Lempel details v3.95, which will be "made available shortly" on the PlayStation.Blog. The update contains the following:
- While playing PSone games on your PSP, you can now customize how the buttons are assigned by going to [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons] and select [Custom]
- You can now quit Remote Play and choose to turn off your PS3 or leave it on after quitting. This is useful if you are performing a download and want to quit Remote Play, but still want your download to continue on the PS3. Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] from [Quit Remote Play] when you press the HOME button on the PSP system.

Sorry but can you be more specific.

To make it clear, there is an option to "Turn off PS3 System" within the PSP's Remote Play Home menu. This firmware update is just making it more streamline to switch off the console from Remote Play when you quit out of it from your PSP.
My instincts tell me that this adds code to get Remote Play working on the new revised PS3 store via Remote Play. So any adventurous PS3/PSP users that want to browse the new look store via Remote Play can do so.

thank you above poster.

I don't see what's so new about the Remote Play feature. You can already do this. When you press Home, you should see a menu of five items (with the latest official firmware). The first option is "Quit Remote Play," which leaves the system on. The third option is "Turn Off the PS3™ System," and I'm sure you can figure out what that means.

How long until Team M33 gets their's out, or will they even bother for this somewhat insignificant update?
ClarkyCat @ Apr 8th 2008 4:36AM
I'm liking the customize controls option, certain games are unplayable at the moment because of the layout.
Jacksons @ Apr 8th 2008 1:27PM
Yeah no kidding, that's a much needed update.
I-Knight @ Apr 8th 2008 6:03AM
I hope you are able to adjust the screen size when playing PS1 games. Thats the only thing i really care about at the moment.
Alien @ Apr 8th 2008 7:47AM

So far this is the only non-listed feature I've found. I've noticed the up'ed the response speed during remote play from +2 up to +4. I guess this is so we can play other games besides RPGs via remoteplay. The lag was a little annoying. Anybody else find some gems?
Binaryfiend @ Apr 8th 2008 8:34PM
Not sure if this is new but when playing PSone games on your PSP from memory stick you can now import or delete PSone game data. Also you can adjust the screen mode, black level, volume, and disc load speed. Just start the game, hit the home button and then choose Memory Card Utility or Other Settings.
I-Knight @ Apr 9th 2008 6:14AM
Screen mode? Do you mean "original", "normal" and "full screen"???
Binaryfiend @ Apr 9th 2008 12:43PM
Just looked and the the options I see are Original, Normal, Zoom and Fullscreen.

With everything being able to have backward compatibility, Sony should just make it easier to play ps1 games on the psp, or re- release titles for the psp.
I have about 200 ps1 games that I would love to play on the go, but I wont mess with the Firmware!
Sony Get with It!

when i updated my psp to 3.95 i couldnt play my music anymore
can someone tell me why
wackywaferjg @ May 29th 2008 10:11PM
My only explanation for this problem is either the file for the upgrade was corrupted in 2 ways:
1. File was downloaded from a site other than Playstation's which is risky business.
or
2. File was downloaded incorrectly or not completely (if this was the case you could have bricked your PSP).
So, what you should do is first is put the files in your Memory Stick Duo on your computer, then reformat your MSD through your PSP. Then, go on the Playstation website ONLY and follow the instructions carefully for the firmware update. When the file is on the MSD, then remember to update it in the PSP, then you can delete the file for updating. Make sure your PSP is fully charged through the whole process. Now (you could have done this before the update, but heck) put the media files on your MSD. You can put it in the CPU directly and then put it in the PSP or you can hook the PSP up to your CPU with the MSD in the PSP (You must activate the connection on the PSP by selecting USB under Settings in the home menu.)
Now hopefully this may solve your problem.
