Hands-on with Joytron's PSP skin case
PSP is quite popular over in Korea, and a number of high quality accessories and peripherals have been released on that side of the Pacific. Nuri Tech is bringing over some of these Korean PSP accessories over to the US, and we have to admit that we're quite pleased.
The Joytron PSP skin case, available for $20, is a surprisingly easy case to install. It comes in four easily attachable parts that simply snap on together. There are instructions included, but it's rather easy to figure things out without them. If I can install this sucker, so can you.
The case will obviously add a bit of girth to your system, but thankfully, it doesn't make too great of an impact on its depth and weight. What we're curious about is how well the case will survive serious falls. We doubt it'll stand up to the challenge, but it should do more than enough to help protect your system from minor everyday scratches. The included stand is a simple, but effective freebie that we appreciated.
We'll be giving away some freebies from Nuritech in the coming days. Until then, check out their official website for more info.

DS fanboy had a a nuritech gie away a few weeks back, I checked out their site and stumbled accross this. I haven't had the 20 extra dollars but when I do this puppy will shurely be mine.
I don't want it for fall protection but rather scratch protection. If you guys include one of these in the giveaway I'll definitely enter.

Looks like the MPO case pre-order bonus.

what about using the extended battery on the slim? seems there are NO peripherals that take that into account.
Andrew Yoon @ Apr 8th 2008 2:44AM
Great question! You can NOT use the extended life battery with this case.
Frastoglegnia @ Apr 8th 2008 6:08AM
I made a point of asking Nuritech about this a month ago. It took the rep awhile to complete the mission, but he answered that the extended battery hadn't sold very well in Korea and China, and for that reason, Nuritech wasn't going to mold a separate piece for it.
On the other hand, I asked Zagg (makers of Invisible Shield) the same question and was told they'd cut a special piece for the extended battery if someone sent one in. Someone has and now the piece is available from them.
For those who are completely neurotic about scratch protection, the Nuritech/Invisible Shield combination seems perfect for the job. It would also mean the battery piece was covered.

Thanks for the Zagg website, I've been looking for a decent way to protect the surfaces/screen but was coming up short.

It looks like this case does NOT protect/cover the screen? If not, kinda useless for this kind of case covering.
Alien @ Apr 8th 2008 7:41AM
Wow , looks good ... I might buy one in the near future :)

I recently purchased the Joytron System Skin Case. It's a great product that is definitely worth a buy.
It comes in four parts that are easy to put on as they are to take off. The product is lightweight and
is very slim so it doesn't get in the way of game play. None of the parts get in the way of psp functions as well.

First thing I thought when I opened the cardboard shipping box was the slick packaging, which, along with the handwritten note thanking me for buying a Nuri product, provided great customer service from the get-go. Inside the black box lay an instruction booklet and a four pieces of plastic: the large front cover, and three separate pieces for the rear (plus a limited-time little plastic stand). The middle piece snaps onto the Slim's new foldout UMD tray, and the front cover snaps with the left and right rear covers to completely enclose your PSP.
The case does not come with any form of screen protection (but Nuri does sell PSP screen pretectors, separately), and $20 places this case on the high end of protective casings on the market.

Ordered one!
It was a fast delivery, had a hand written note like described by poster, and the packaging is actually slick (if completely Korean)
With the case on the added amount of girth is negligable and it is a very snug fit so It'll stay on.
The screen is completely unprotected though (something I didn't like which prevents this from being my final psp protection solution).
Pleased with my purchase though and I reccomend it!

The Joytron crystal clear plastic skin for Sony PSP Slim system is Fantastic! It snaps together in 3 places, UMD cover is accessible along with all connectors and switches.
Remember the skin really helps keep dust and fingerprints off the PSP and keep your system looking great, the skin is not a hardcover case.
I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this skin to others who may be looking for a protective cover to keep their PSP looking great.

I just got the clear Joytron case for PSP slim from Nuritech and was immediately impressed with how easy it was to put on and how cool it looked on my red God of War PSP. The case comes in 4 pieces which snap together fairly intuitively. All ports are unobstructed and gameplay is totally unimpeded by the case. Even the UMD door can be opened and closed with no problems at all.
The case will protect from scratches, smears, nicks and dings, however the screen remains exposed. I just got a screen protector which can be replaced after it gets too worn. I put the PSP in an sunglasses pouch with a drawstring to close when commuting which keeps everything safe from scuff marks etc.
Overall the Joytron case is affordable, lightweight, looks very impressive and with a free small viewing stand from Nuritech to boot, this deal can't be beat!

I’ve had my joytron case for a couple of months now and I really like it. It fit’s the psp slim perfectly. The pieces do not slide or wiggle at all. It’s the slimmest case I’ve found. I was actually hoping it would add a little bulk because I have trouble holding my psp slim for long periods of time, bug I didn’t notice any extra bulk. It seems to protect well too. I don’t think you could throw it against a wall but it keeps the scratches off and I think it would protect against a short fall. I paired mine with a semi-hard case for traveling. Shipping was very fast and I got a hand written note just like everyone else thanking me for the purchase. It was very easy and self explanatory to put on. I think I’m going to eventually put on an invisible shield for the screen but I haven’t had any problems with it whatsoever. Great product .

I have to agree, this is by far the most innovative case for the Slim PSP yet! The faceplate is immaculate in design but indeed does not cover the screen. So just purchase a good screen protector and you should be good to go. Personally, I was kind of glad that the Joytron Skin Case was designed this way. Some of those cases that shield the screen seem to attract scratches and dirt that inhibit the overall picture quality.
This case makes my red psp look so sleak and I have yet to experience a piece falling off while vigorously gaming ("Me and My Katamari" ring a bell?) or carrying it in my pocket while listening to music.
The navigation of the buttons and access to all ports are really easy. The case allows the "Power" and "WLAN" switches to be slightly recessed. So no more accidentally shutting down your Slim PSP while playing which was a common problem for me before.
Of course this case may not be the best protection from a hard impact. However, it certainly does its job well protecting it from scratches, fingerprints, dust, dirt, and possibly even a small impact such as dropping it on a table or hard floor while sitting.
Regardless, this case should be a priority along with a screen protector on any Slim PSP accessory list. I mean why resort to getting one of those ugly chunky cases that can barely fit in your pocket? This is by far the best medium for protection while still upholding the true form and function of the Slim PSP design.

Excellent case for the PSP Slim. It provides protection from scratches and fingerprints. It fits perfectly snug over the PSP, covering the front and back, without sacrificing ports. The only need to remove the case is to access the battery, but it's not often anyone needs o do that. The only suggestion is buy a screen protector. The item was inexpensive and came with free shipping, which was delivered within a day or two.

After hours of searching through the refuse that is the world of PSP-2000 protection I finally found a "system skin case" that suited my needs. There are a lot of storage/travel cases, one of which I will eventually purchase because the big, beautiful screen is not covered, but I was looking for protection while gaming. Most of those either weren't made for the slim PSP or had major flaws, like not being able to comfortably use the analog nub. It came down between a sure-grip silicone skin from eforcity and the PSP Slim & Lite from Nuri Tech.
I ultimately went with the Slim & Lite because it is completely clear, so I can actually see the Kratos glare I paid for. It is a very nice-looking little case that doesn't get in the way of a single button or port and protects your investment from everyday scratches. It's so thin that there is absolutely no button-pressing interference and everything just feels right. The Slim & Lite attaches easily, but be careful of the back cover, which has very tiny hooks. You will need a separate storage case
Check out the Nuri Tech Amazon storefront for more color choices: red (ooh) and silver chrome, and red and black leather. They also have some equally pretty PSP-1000 and DS cases. Don't forget to get a screen protector and maybe a micro fiber pouch, too. You can also order from NuriTech.us and there you'll find more pics and product descriptions.
Let's move on to the most important part of any buying decision, which you usually don't know the answer to until you've already entered into a relationship with the company: Customer Service. Sometimes you find a new company that's the only one that has what you want and, of course, you can't find enough reviews about the company itself. Well, you don't have to be wary about giving your money to Nuri Tech. I ordered my products on a Thursday morning, with free 5-7 day shipping. My order was packed and shipped that night and arrived on Saturday.
Now, that's not the part that impressed me. I found a problem when I put everything together: one of the hooks on the UMD cover was smaller than the others, so was loose, and the filter was inexplicably scratched near the middle of the screen. I emailed them about it that afternoon and they responded just over an hour later (on a Saturday!) that they were sorry to hear I got a defective/damaged product and sent out replacements, personally test fitting the UMD cover first. I have never experienced better service. It was, frankly, amazing.
