Europe will get MGO beta too
According to Eurogamer, Konami has told them that a European Metal Gear Online beta will be announced "shortly." This is excellent news for Europeans, especially for the lot of you trying to sneak onto the Japanese beta sign-up but keep getting locked out. Naughty. In any case, you can stop the nail-biting anxiety now. Also, cancel that planned trip down to the pub -- the one you usually reserve for occasional grumblings on being left in the dark again.
While Euros await the chance to pounce on a sign-up, North Americans are sitting at home with paranoia for the past few weeks safeguarding their beta access codes from potential intruders. We're keeping it under lock and key, and behind a sawed-off shotgun. See, getting things early isn't always that much of a slick deal.

Probably around 2 months after the game has been released.

Heh, I thought I was the only crazy one. I got my key tucked away, lol.

Me: So, when do you guys think you'll be getting the MGS4 preorder DVDs and beta keys in?
EB Manager: Huh? MGS4 preorders? The game's not out until June! Beats me, probably sometime later in May. And beta keys? What the heck are you talking about??? MGS isn't an MMO!

Had the same issue at my local gamestop, and this is after I got an automated voicemail saying they had them in. They're like "uh, we havent heard anything about that...". Very strange, starting to wonder if they'll figure out anything before the beta actually launches

i hate always asking this, but ps3fanboy needs to make it more clear.
does that include australia too? i.e. pal. or just europe?
mathab @ Apr 10th 2008 8:00PM
Europe. I would've said it in the article otherwise. ;)

to be fair to gamestop.. they don't tell their employees about this stuff.
PSRT @ Apr 11th 2008 3:20PM
I'm sure that's true. Nevertheless, don't you think an employee at a video game retailer of all places would know about something like this? MGS is a large enough franchise for this stuff to be known by gaming enthusiasts, am I wrong?
Pawsie @ Apr 12th 2008 8:20AM
I would say 'yes' but i ordered both the normal edition and the special one. And seeing how every employee are competing for reserves -- if not every store is competing for reserves. I wouldn't be surprise if they look the other way.
And there are multiple gamestops in one area -- they're network isn't connected. You can pre order something in all the stores and no one would know.
