Engadget presents Ben Heck's PS3 Laptop
The raw power of the PlayStation 3 fitting inside a laptop enclosure? We thought it couldn't be done; alas, Ben Heck has made it reality. That beautiful laptop you see above is his crowning work after having done the Xbox 360 and Wii laptops. Of course, he saved the best for last.
Now it's nice to look at, but what about owning it? Yes that's right, owning it. Engadget is auctioning away this beautiful rare device for charity real soon. Want to know more, then hit up Engadget for the whole story.

Install Linux and it's a real laptop. A real big one but still...

talk about an amazing machine. True its bulky, has a laptop screen, and when it runs linux its kinda slow... but taking a ps3 to my friends house for a weekend would be about ten times more likely. man it's sexy

so you mean laptop as in, portable? wow. i think i would be amazed if i saw people carrying that thing around. i mean im a fanboy too but damn. lets wait till they redesign the ps3 and see what they come up with and if they make a real laptop then.

A laptop with blu-ray and PS3 gaming abilities. You can buy a flight to Japan and on your way back, you can watch blu-ray pr0n AND play Ps3 games while in-flight. How amazing is that? >=D

The man is some kind of genius, it has to be said.

It's almost as big as a Dell XPS M1730+

That guy has some serious skills. Not sure there's a market for this kind of thing, but as a one off. Its pretty dman special.

Still pales in comparison to the sheer gravity generating bulk of my area 51 Alienware laptop. otherwise, top work to the boy

Hmmm... this monster is just not warming up to me. It looks way too bulky and looking at some of engadget's pics.... the fit and finish is just too rough in many areas. Maybe it's the photographs.... just does not look very refined to me. The volume knob looks like a bad skin mole growing out off the box. The over sized logo looks reminds me of an inexperienced tatoo artist. I'm just not getting it. As a garage hack it's interesting, but not compelling.

Stop hating dude. When was the last time you did ANYTHING that even BEGINS to approach the level of this accomplishment.
...I hear crickets

Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!! How long did it take U to make and how much $$$$? (Including PS3 and all parts)
GAMES-ECT @ Apr 11th 2008 10:53AM
Did U put in a 160GB hard drive also?
blake @ Apr 19th 2008 11:20AM
GAMES-ECT - RTFA buddy. The info is in the article (see hyperlinks). Its pretty sweet i have to say, but for $8,000 and the way the housing market is these days, i could almost put a down payment on a decent condo. I would love to see it in action though. I wonder about the cooling....
vegi-saurus @ Apr 11th 2008 12:30PM
PS3P FTW! Awesome hack!
never$$hort @ Apr 11th 2008 1:05PM
Thats pretty F'n cool but one question... where's the analog sticks and the rest of the PS3 buttons??
never$$hort @ Apr 11th 2008 1:09PM
Ah never mind... you use PS3 wireless controllers, DUH... just woke up and a little on the slow side... haha
