All Points Bulletin may make its way onto the PS3

Realtime's studio manager, Colin MacDonald, clarifies the situation somewhat: "The situation is that yes, all the consoles are an option for us, and we'll be looking at them. But there's nothing decided, nothing to report at the moment I'm afraid ... Yes, we'll be looking seriously at [PS3] ... But that doesn't mean it's going ahead, and it doesn't mean it's not going ahead." We'll have to find out before the game launches in 2009. With a facelift, hopefully.

I highly doubt MS will let the creators of Crackdown make a game on the PS3, they will buy the exclusivity.
Carlton @ Apr 17th 2008 9:09AM
Crackdown sold a little under 1,5m and launched on an install base of about 9m 360's. The PS3 install base is currently at near 12m and by the time APB launches will be at least 18m. A reasonable estimate would suggest that APB could feasibly shift 2m units on the PS3 alone.
From a $60 game, the developer usually nets somewhere in the region of $25-30 per unit sold. That would mean MS would likely have to spend at least $50m to get console-exclusivity for APB. Sure, the could afford it, but would it really make sound business sense?

I hope this game does come out on the PS3. Because Sony this gen is really pushing for MMOs on the PS3 and seeing as Sony lets the devs do what ever they want with there MMOs I see no reason this would not come out on the PS3.

Is Crackdown owned by MS? Obviously Realtime Worlds isn't if they are considering PS3...
Anyway, if not, I really wish they would consider a Crackdown port or Crackdown 2 for PS3. Crackdown and Dead Rising are the only two games I regret not having after ditching MS's POS box for good.

This game will be awesome, believe me. David Jones is not only responsible for Crackdown, he is also one of the founders of DMA Design (Rockstar North).
Also, am I the only one who remembers the original A.P.B? It's seems like nobody ever mentions it in forums or in the press, but it is one of Atari's greatest ever arcade games, and almost certainly one of the influences for the original GTA.
M3ntal @ Apr 16th 2008 7:39PM
I remember it didn't want to be the first person to show their age LMAO.
Consolcwby @ Apr 16th 2008 8:16PM
I loved the original APB! And so what if I'm as old as the hills! =D
omf @ Apr 16th 2008 11:35PM
I was afraid I was the only one who remembered that!!

I do though im not that old...just that i played too many roms.
Carlton @ Apr 17th 2008 8:04AM
Thank god I'm not the only one that has fond memories of it.
I just hope that this new version has donut stops, because (altogether now): "I sure could use a donut!"
And what do you mean old? I'm not old... am I?

The graphics on that car are dreadful!

Hmmmmmmmmm, sounds kinda familar. Sounds kinda really familar.... CrimeCraft anyone? Looks like we got a whole new generation of generic sandbox games on the horizon.
gordon_strange @ Apr 16th 2008 8:52PM
man it would be awesome wicked cool a ok number one superstar if the original apb was released on psn!! i spent so much time on that as a kid, in a dingy cafe, with strange men asking me to help them in the public toilet, and then giving me more 10p's so i could play again.....happy days
Burn @ Apr 16th 2008 9:10PM
I just wonder if you are going to be able to play on both sides of the fence, cops and robbers.

Carlton @ Apr 17th 2008 8:17AM
Not sure what the relevance of that link was, although it made for a very interesting and disturbing read.
But yes, you will be able to play on both sides of the law.
Personally I'm looking forward to playing as the cops more than the criminals. I'm sick of playing as the scum, now I want to play as the filth!

I'd rather have Crackdown. I'll have had enough of the gangsta life by the time I'm done with GTA4 and Saint's Row 2.
emaxximus @ Apr 16th 2008 9:55PM
Word!
Carlton @ Apr 17th 2008 8:05AM
My advice would be to skip Saint's Row 2 and opt for APB instead. SR2 will be just another GTA-clone and I'll be shocked if APB doesn't turn out to be the superior game.
Plus, APB's primary focus is on playing the cops not the crooks and should therefore feature plenty of pursuit-style gameplay (like the original APB or Chase HQ) that distinguishes it from GTA (that and the fact it is an MMO).
If Crackdown-style sandbox superhero action is what you crave, inFamous and Prototype should be enough to satisfy you in the absence of Crackdown 2.
Incidentally, the producer of Crackdown said that they turned down Microsoft's request to make Crackdown 2 because they had "already started working on bigger, better things." APB is one of those bigger and better things.
Crackdown was just an hors d'oeuvre; APB is the main course.
Titty Pink @ Apr 17th 2008 6:31AM
I remember APB. It ate a fair share of my quarters back in the day. Hell, can you even play an arcade game nowadays with a quarter???
Cahlito @ Apr 17th 2008 6:35AM
I was being torn thinking if I should get an xbox. With crackdown being my favorite game, seriously I beat it like 5 times, I was eyeing this game. Which meant I would have to get my own xbox instead of play my friend's xbox all the time. Hopefully it comes out on the PS3 so I wont have to buy a system I'll be using for just a few games.
lou man @ Apr 20th 2008 9:43AM
Crackdown was great. I would by this on PS3 for sure.
