Alone in the Dark on PS3 by Autumn, possibly with episodic content
If you were miffed by the formerly vague "sometime in 2008" release schedule for Alone in the Dark, then take comfort in the new "Autumn 2008" forecast. Brilliant. A whole season has finally been pinned down for the PS3 version. While the game has endured delays in the past, it looks like all other versions of the game (excluding the PS3) will be released on June 24.
On the bright side of things, there is an incentive for PS3 gamers looking to get lonely in the dark several months behind their console cousins. The PS3 version won't be a simple cut-n-paste port, but will be a specially adapted game with the possibility of episodic content. Worth it? That remains to be seen. Let's stay positive and hope so.

You'd think with Phil Harrison now on board, they'd be doing a hell of a lot more to cater to the PS3 crew than vague hints at "episodic content." Isn't this the game that is going to make or break Atari? Apparently they meant "on the 360..."

I love this buzzword "episodic" that Atari is throwing around for this game when what they really mean is "in separate levels, since an open world takes too much effort."

"but will be a specially adapted game with the possibility of episodic content"
What exactly is specially adapted? Sounds like porting to me. It isn't "adapted" to allow episodes, as the 360 already has that capability as well. So specially adapt it means motion control too maybe? Or maybe thats the new term for having two different teams working on a game, so it isn't hit with the porting stigma.

In June what will most PS3 users be playing? The answer is MGS4, all other games will not matter in June. They made a good decision.

If I was Harrison, I'd get Atari to crank out a ton of little games for XBL and the PSN, PixelJunk style. They need to fatten up their bottom line before they commit to huge games that eat money and dev time.

they need to figure out a really good quirky and unique 2d sidescroller game, like bionic commader rearmed..... these are the games that can be cheap and quick dev wise but also be englufing whole experinces that entertain like games should !!!!!
