I'll grab Stay Alive for sure, especially since the price is perfect. Probably that's all, though. An underwhelming update after two weeks of nothing.. But I can deal. Good things come to those who wait... I hope.
Lars @ Apr 18th 2008 1:40PM
Wow... just wow. Seriously? "An underwhelming update?" This is one of the best updates ever!
GT5!
Warhawk expansion!
Eight songs for Rock Band! half of them @ a buck each, one of them free! Good songs too, unlike the previous few updates (thrash metal, grateful dead, etc. = all crap)
The Warhawk expansion is frickin awesome. I still don't like the new store though. It's wayyy slower than the old one.
adolson @ Apr 18th 2008 2:30PM
GT5 Prologue - half a game - at full retail price. I'd rather buy it in the store, IF I liked realistic driving simulators, which I don't. But even still, I'd rather have physical media which I can re-sell if I don't like it or stop playing it.
Warhawk update - great for people who have Warhawk. I'd consider buying Warhawk if it had a single-player campaign, but since the whole point of it is multiplayer-only, it's not for me. Sure, the addon is great for Warhawk fans.
USEAPQZ demo - sucks, I'm sorry, but it does. I'm grateful for that - saves me $60. Not that I'd have bought it to begin with, but now it's definite.
Rock Band content - yes, the songs that we would have got over the past two weeks like the 360 users did. What's revolutionary about that? Stay Alive is free, you're right. And if you read my post, I said that was good, and the only thing I was interested in. The other songs, I don't know or don't care about. Unlike most people, I don't buy EVERY Rock Band track just because it's there. I buy ones that I'm interested in playing.
If we had received all of this content divided over the past three weeks, you can bet your ass that many more people than just myself would be bitching about it. And in fact, I wasn't even bitching, I just said I was underwhelmed. I figured that for three weeks' worth of content, we'd get a new smaller PSN game, in the $10 range, maybe a demo of Viking or something,
Actually, there were some updates on Tuesday:
Lair update - wow, the game is playable now! Several months late.
Super Stardust HD Solo - worth the money, I bought it. I love it.
PSP owners have more reason to complain though. After all that time, we got only two videos - of a PS3 game. Wow.
Don't get me wrong, please. I'm not bitching about it. I just mentioned that I'm underwhelmed. If you're not, then it's because you are starved for Rock Band tracks, or you have and like Warhawk. There's nothing wrong with either view.
Kspraydad @ Apr 17th 2008 2:27PM
No PS1 games? :(
Soccer demo for me it is.
shortyvs @ Apr 17th 2008 2:28PM
I can't find "Saints of Los Angeles". Anyone else have the same problem?
shortyvs @ Apr 17th 2008 3:32PM

"On April 15th for Xbox 360 and April 24th for Playstation 3 (since their submission office has been closed for two weeks and we couldn't send them the files) , we will be releasing Mötley Crüe's new single 'Saints of Los Angeles'".
To PS3 Fanboy: April 24th is when 'Saints of Los Angeles' comes out.
kevin @ Apr 17th 2008 2:29PM
free rockband song it is for me :D
Tony @ Apr 17th 2008 2:31PM
This is gonna sound like whining...but I really wanted PixelJunk Monsters Encore!
...and a fix for DTS-MA HD
Dan Davis @ Apr 17th 2008 2:33PM
YES! I am ACHING to get my grubby hands on PJM:E!
"Simple Man" rocks my socks, but that new Crüe song BLOWS!
Popfrogs @ Apr 17th 2008 4:27PM
"..and a fix for DTS-MA HD"
What's wrong with it? The 2.30 firmware was supposed to enable it.
Rye21 @ Apr 18th 2008 6:16AM
@ Popfrogs.
DTS HD MA is enabled so to speak, a vast majority of films will work with DTS MA on PS3 now... but people are having problems with Blu Ray films, mainly from New Line. The PS3 is saying it is 7.1 surround sound but the speakers are actually on 5.1 and the rear two are not working.
The problem is with the PS3 dts-MA decoder itself. Some New Line discs such as Pan's Labyrinth uses the rear surrounds using the new DTS-HD Multiple Speaker Playback Configuration labels. The PS3 DTS HD MA decoder does not support this.
The PS3 decoder doesn't know what to do with the DTS-HD Multiple Speaker Playback Configuration labels, hence the loss of the rear two speakers, downgrading it to 5.1. The PS3 recognizes them as 7.1 channels and reports that on its display. But, it doesn't put them into the PCM channels to be transmitted. So, the data arriving at the AVR (surround sound system )is only 5.1.
This only really effects New Line films and it can be fixed by a firmware update. However we need to make Sony aware of the problem. To the majority of people it may not bother them, 5.1 surround is still impressive.
But if you have a 7.1 AVR try Shoot em Up or Pan's to see what I mean, your rear two speakers shouldn't be working.
Its a little confusing but thats as simple as I can explain it, I recommend checking out AVSFORUMS PS3 FIRMWARE 2.3 OFFICIAL THREAD, for more info.
drdre74 @ Apr 17th 2008 2:32PM
ok WTF happened to the surprise we were suppose to see on the store this week? Doesn't look like anything worth a damn to me but GT5.
Stewpac @ Apr 17th 2008 2:56PM
The Surprise was from Konami, not Sony. It was some free Beta codes for US players who did not pre-order MGS4
shagee @ Apr 17th 2008 2:33PM
I wish I didn't buy Omega Dawn already. I haven't played it nearly enough and would have gladly paid 11.99 for both. =/
Kyle @ Apr 17th 2008 2:53PM
I feel your pain, I however didn't buy Omega Dawn and look forward to buying them both. However now I have to add more funds, I'm $1 shy on my Wallet.
Bad Mojo @ Apr 17th 2008 3:50PM
Yeah... feeling more like "Operation Hosed Over" or better yet, "Operation Cornholed", for supporting the game expansions when they came out.
WTF?
I'm sad.
Kodros @ Apr 17th 2008 3:59PM
Games go down in price, get use to it.
CM @ Apr 17th 2008 4:06PM
I am a big supporter of this game. I feel the same way. I am way pissed off right now, but would be stoked if i hadn't already bought one.
Syn @ Apr 17th 2008 4:01PM
Screw Warhawk. The fact you can't use the Dropship and APC on the same map is complete garbage. That was the only reason I was going to buy Broken Mirror. But now I have to pick between playing a map with dropships or playing with APCs is stupid. I paid $10 for Dropships to be replaced by APCs for another $10.
Im done with Warhawk. Complete garbage.
GTA is 11 days away.

linebeginstoblur @ Apr 17th 2008 9:21PM
@shagee
I know what you mean. I bought Omega Dawn, but in fact, I have not played a single second of it. I just kept putting it off until I forgot about it. But then again, I try to think of the times when I waited to buy games until they went down in price.
Hey, you win some, you lose some. I know it's frustrating, but you can't worry about every little thing. :)
Lars @ Apr 18th 2008 2:23PM
"Im done with Warhawk. Complete garbage."
BLASPHEMY! Get him!
True_Darknight @ Apr 17th 2008 2:44PM
what is this warhawk thing everyone keeps talking about??
operation this and that... hmmmm
i might be inclined to check it out....
but i don't know if i want to download since Sony is never nice enough to tell you to deactivate PS3s when you send it to them to get repaired..... and yes they count towards your total systems which have games installed!!!
*upto number 3 now!!!!*
oh the fun!
JAH75157 @ Apr 17th 2008 2:49PM
so nothing to get excited about then.
Brambler @ Apr 17th 2008 2:55PM
Why does everyone get so hyped about the stupid Portal song? I'll get it because it is free, but I would rather have about a million other songs for Rock Band.
whistlepig @ Apr 17th 2008 3:49PM
i know right ?
Lars @ Apr 18th 2008 2:27PM
Because nerd + portal = nerdgasm.
So you are not a nerd, or you haven't played portal. Either way, you clearly don't get it.
Devin @ Apr 17th 2008 3:10PM
Where's the Home beta? Where's the big "surprise"?
adolson @ Apr 17th 2008 3:35PM
Nobody ever said there was going to be a big surprise today... Unless you have a source to back it up. Link me.
Devin @ Apr 17th 2008 5:02PM
nm it was Konami that talked about a "very special surprise".....awwwww
wonway01 @ Apr 17th 2008 3:32PM
I'm all over the Warhawk pack for $11.99
Probably score Saints of Los Angeles for .99 too!
RagingStormX @ Apr 17th 2008 3:42PM
Message in a bottle is the sh!ts!!...too bad I don't have Rock Band :'(......I still envy the Europe update...you just can't top free MGO beta.
dabamf @ Apr 17th 2008 3:47PM
Broken Mirror, already purchased and installed.
DMeisterJ @ Apr 17th 2008 3:52PM
This is a pretty nice update. Tons of content
Andy @ Apr 17th 2008 4:11PM
"underwhelming update?"
What are you on?
More Warhawk. All of the Rock Band songs are ones I've been waiting for since they were announced on the Rock Band forums... This is going to be an expensive week for me on the PS Store.....
never$$hort @ Apr 17th 2008 4:20PM
Wow a bunch of complaining, whining b****es on here as usual, what else is new?? I for one am stoked about the Broken Mirror expansion and am downloading right now!! I'll see you fellow warhawk addicts online to murder ya and put ya on ice!
Tony @ Apr 17th 2008 4:36PM
@ PopFrogs
The new DTS-MA HD decoder is actually DTS-MA HD Limited, and does not properly playback most 6.1 and 7.1 tracks. If you don't believe me, check out avsforums or just pop in Pan's Labyrinth or Shoot Em Up. The PS3 OSD will display full 7.1, but the receiver is only getting 5.1 and the rears are silent.
Major disappointment, stealth downgrade of the DTS-MA HD codec.
Titty Pink @ Apr 20th 2008 1:06PM
I feel gyped. I just bought Omega Dawn last week. Pissed...
why not the LS2LS7? @ Apr 17th 2008 5:52PM
It's been 3 weeks, not 2. 2 weeks off, means the last update was 3 weeks ago.
Anyway, thanks Sony for finally coming through. Let's not do this again soon, okay?
INYAFACE @ Apr 17th 2008 8:36PM
other than warhawk users , seems pretty dull to me after a 2 week wait. no demos????
Phizzy @ Apr 17th 2008 10:29PM
Not gonna report on the Hong Kong Lair demo?
Amish Gramish @ Apr 18th 2008 2:21PM
"Still Alive" it is for me!
