PS3 Call of Duty 4 Map Pack finally hammers down solid release dates

Apparently, there was nothing to worry about. The Variety Map Pack will hit the North American PSN on April 24 as previously scheduled. European Call of Duty 4 fans can pick up the downloadable content from the Euro PSN on May 1.

Double XP weekend for North America will commence on Friday, April 25 at midnight Pacific Time. It will run through Saturday until Sunday, April 27 ending also at midnight Pacific Time. "Play with Infinity Ward" will be on Friday, April 25 at 5-8pm Pacific. As for Europe, Double XP weekend begins Friday, May 2 at midnight GMT and will end Sunday, May 4 at midnight GMT. Europe's "Play with Infinity Ward" is on Friday, May 2 at 7-10pm GMT.

This is a terrible business move on IW/Activision's part. Did they not know GTA is coming out the following tuesday?

10 bucks for 5 days of enjoyment (when GTA comes out, we all know that COD4 is going on the bookshelf for a while). You guys messed up here. Certification process be damned, these should have been released at the same time as the XBOX.

I don't mind that it comes out this close to GTA IV being released. Maybe all the annoying people on COD4 will migrate to GTA and leave the rest of us alone. It will probably help with the lag and make the game more enjoyable. Win-win.

Yep, no buy. I love COD but GTA IV and MLB the Show will be taking up my time until MGS drops in June. No time for these maps. They screwed themselves with this delay.

Yea, GTA 4 will have all my love by then. They may have jacked this one up for themselves. I love COD, but just as R6 pulled me from Resistance, and Warhawk pulled me from R6, COD may be forgotten after the GTA release.

Sony dropped the ball yet again on this one. Whos going to buy this knowing GTA and the MGS4 Online Beta are the same time frame? COD4 will be getting the back burning for awhile after APRIL 29th.

I can't wait, bring on the new maps.

Now I have to decide whether I want to do another Prestige on double XP weekend.

I'm hoping that the punks who run around shooting their mouth off more than their gun will migrate over to GTAIV. I like racing games, I like shooters, but I don't like the combo, so I will keep on playing CoD4 and GT5P.

@ drdre, has nothing to do with sony. MS threw some money at Infinity Ward and they gave it to MS first. I think they will regret it due to all the money they are gonna lose on PS3 players who are gonna not download now.

True. I hate that Devs are still on that PS3 vs 360 bullcrap. They need to put things out on both systems at the same time. I hate that M$ buys everything t get it first but hell Sony isn't trying to match it so whats a gamer to do?

I feel for the ones who don't have it to spare...but I $10 is nothing (guess thats a perk of being employed lol)...even though I will be getting GTA4, atleast I can have a blast with the new maps and double XP next weekend...I just hope they have ironed out any kinks the maps may have had.

Like others, I'll be too busy from the MGO beta to convince myself to pay for these maps right now. Who knows, maybe they'll go down in price one day. Also, I don't really get the point of the double-XP weekends. You won't really increase in the rankings, if everybody is still playing, but I guess it helps you level up faster, for those that like going through prestige mode over and over (I did it once, not sure if I'll do it again when I hit 55 again)

for some reason I just feel screwed.... Love the ps3, purchased it when it came out, even with limited titles!!! and just when things seem to be coming on par with X-BOX Sony lets us down. They blame Infinity ward. But I blame them. I feel like I was punished for having a PS3!!!!

Well i dont think you guys know it but the reason for the delay for the map pack was for the PS's Inteface update. The IW didn't give XBOX Live special treatment, Sony just blankly told The IW that they will not be able to upload their map pack due to an interface update and they coudn't do it last Thursday either because GT5 Prologue took up too much bandwitch therefore causing no room for the CoD4 Map Pack, so dont blame The IW blame Sony...

Does anyone know if COD4 was released in Asia? I love this game and want the new maps but I have a PS3 from Hong Kong and seems like everyone else already has them but there is nothing on the Asain network for downloading.
When playing the game a message window says that I can download them using the in-game download option, which does not seem to exist, at least in mine?!
Can anyone help? Many thanks.............................
