Some Metal Gear Online beta codes invalid, downloads impossible

We've contacted Konami, but have yet heard back from them. For now, we can only advise affected readers to email Konami support at mgobetasupport AT konami.com. We'll update this post when we find out more information.

I got the beta and the patch yesterday. The main problem is getting the 2 ID's that Konami requires. The website keeps crashing. Anyone else having this problem?

yeah. Everyone is having that problem. Konami's ID site has been destroyed by the millions of people rushing to create two seperate IDs needed to play. I have been trying since wed. night to no avail.

I tried to get my Konami ID all day today, started at like 7:30 am and refreshing ever 15min or so.. still have yet to get it- keeps timing out

I cant believe you have to register with Konami to get stupid ID's to play the beta. I have spent hours trying to register and got nowhere so far. Bloody stupid idea. You dont this sort of crap on xbox betas. I would love to meet to idiot that came up with that idea.

Be glad thats your only problem, I cant even update the damn thing. I went to 11% and it timed out... I restarted it and for 30 mins now it has yet to pick up at all.

Finally ps3 fanboy noticed. I e-mailed capcom and yet no response. Some from the ps3 oficial forums have finally received the missing parts of their code via e-mail from konami. I still have gotten no response.

lol! I didn't noticed I put in capcom. Guess my frustration awakened my hate for Capcom. Anyway I just received my new beta code. Downloading right now. Send the e-mail to the mgo konami support with your incomplete code and they will send you a new one. The e-mail appears in the same page as the code.

I just got off the phone with the Gamestop I preordered MGS4 at... they said they just read an e-mail about 10 minutes ago (as in before I called) saying that ALL their pre-order codes were invalid, and this wasn't just sent to their store, but was an internal e-mail. Just thought you'd like to know...

I got my code from gamestop. I D/L the beta yesterday.
So some codes do work, but they must be 12 digits long.

you cant if your outside the eu, well you can dload it but it wont work if your outside the eu mate.

@gordon_strange: what exactly did they put in place to stop us from using the beta? If we set everything to look like we're from Europe (with the exception of our IP address I guess, since the PS3 is region free - in which case, European proxy), then shouldn't we be able to join the European open beta?Or is there some other US-blocking system?

One, because it's illegal.
Two, because the lag of playing european servers would be huge.
Three, because Konami have measures against that.
So far I think it's only checking your IPs country of origin against the country you want to sign your Konami ID against, and only allowing Konami ID's from correct countries into the beta.
But even that means if you're an American and you create a Konami ID with your favourite nickname and set your country as Europe, and manage to sneak through into the EU beta, then when the game launches in the US you'll have to create another Konami ID to play.

you acutally can play the EURO beta when its live.
the only thing you need to do is select UK when @ id.konami.net

Email Konami customer support (mgobetasupport@konami.com) and give them your invalid key. I did that, and within a few hours received the remaining characters in my key. Tried it out, and it worked fine. Download's complete, now all I have to do is update...

This beta has been a complete joke and it hasn't even started yet. Even when you download it you will get constant errors downloading the patch.

got my beta no problem the patch took 2.5 hours to download so i watched a movie, no big deal, i've got a konami id, but not a game id, if this damn site would be fixed all would be ok for me, kind of frustrating as it is right now.

I can't even get the EU version to work. Just get network errors for both p2p and http methods. It must be that PSN refused to host the beta because it couldn't keep up much better than Konami is managing right now.

I register for a konami id without trouble, and the site loads up with no problem when you manage to finish downloading the beta, that thing took 2-3 hours. I register for the konami id and game id about 2 days ago without problem and load the site on my ps3 without any problem at all.

yep I got a 9 digit so I downloaded the euro beta with euro psn accout I made and then I deleted it and the beta is American accout. I'm patching it right now hope it might work but still got no damn konami id or game id. Konami should have saw this coming.

Ok a bit of info for those suffering the 9 digit code numbers!! Go to your local Best Buy or call them and ask them if they have any of the DVD's still on sale!! My buddy had the 9 digit code and was screwed because our local Gamestop didn't have anymore DVD's to hand out.. For giggles we went to Best Buy and sure as Sh*t they had the DVD on sale for 5 bucks! So go GO GO GO!!

Happily, here in Europe, you don't need any code. It's an open beta for every PS3 user.

That is true in Europe we do not need this pre-order code but you will need to have pointless konami id and pointless konami game id.
PSN ID is not up to this job for konami. But Konami site is down for DAYS!
Sorry to say it but Konami are a joke! This is a fact! Konami ID is just way that only very few will be able to play this demo.

I had 9 digits too. I emailed them last week about it and they asked for my code. I emailed the 9 digit one that I had and they emailed me back with a 12 one that let me download the game.

Wait, What the Fish? You telling me they knew about this for a while now and didn't try to stray off the problem at all. Before I was, eh. But now I am double pissed and triple frustrated. All that time they posted those stupid blogs on the Playstation site and they could have said something way before this. I know its a beta but come on it is still your loyal fan base you dealing with here. Like I said before on other places. Either I get into the beta or better release that blasted demo that game sites and PR have been playing. What a fish-up!

i contacted gamestop support and here is what they said
Please send an email to mgobetasupport@konami.com , or visit http://www.konami-data.com/support/. Please be sure to include their partial code, and any other pertinent details (like a return email address, etc).
Information will also be posted on Konami.com and Playstation by the end of the day. Konami is also working on a statement that will be forwarded to you to provide to accounts with the same information. Until then, please use the above information so that the codes can be replaced/fixed.

Would it be possible to go to gamestop where I preordered and got another DVD with a code that is valid? Still trying to get my Konami ID. Still the clusterfuck it's been for a week. Man, I almost just want to get a refund on my preorder...

It's not that big of a deal. Just e-mail Konami your 9-digit code, and they'll send you a new code.
They responded to my e-mail in less than 10 hours.

Maybe Konami will extend the beta given all the teething problems , in the same way the Halo3 beta was extended.
Their website performance is a joke, obviously no proper thought has gone into capacity planning for this event. Shame on you Konami..

you can simply email your partial beta code to
mgobetasupport@konami.com
and they send you a full code, as long as your partial code is legit. I got mine in about 24 hrs

After 26 hours of just downloading the update, i luckily also got konami id registered, my patience has grown alot. so does this mean i am 1 of the 3000?

I downloaded the file...then downloaded the update...then i finally managed to register and get a code....and guess wot....it doesnt work!!! This really is absolute waste from Konami. I mean dont release this faeces until its worth releasing...i didnt even care i had to wait til June to play MGS cos i know GTA is coming out soon but then Konami had to go wind me up by claiming that a small taste of MGS is available for free when really its not. I have spent a total of 4 hrs trying to play this damn game and yet its all been a total waste of time. Thanks Konami. I actually held Konami in quite a high regard over recent years due to the excellent quality of their games (pro evo and MGS) but since the move on to the ps3 things have gone downhill...it is not the console because Infinity Ward and Activision have done an excellent job with COD 4...so it is possible to make an excellent game on the ps3 using its graphics and online capability so why are Konami struggling to get their games to work without confusion, hassle and frustration?
