Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection patch adds rumble, Pickup Match mode

PSN downloadable Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is getting another update today, one which Japanese players have enjoyed for weeks now. The most significant additions in this recent patch include DualShock 3 support and Pickup Match mode, which allows players to bypass the waiting room and continue playing one-on-one matches continuously.

Other tweaks include the ability to input and display names for rooms, a "flag" search (to find the best possible connections), new notifications and new casual matches. As expected, bugs have also been squashed.

The patch should be available for all American gamers today.

I am a big fan of tekken tag, but I have been on the fence with this one. How is it?

Currently it's buggy as hell. You might think the only battles you'll have will be during the fight, but nope. It's a struggle to find a room, let alone enter one. Once you do get in you're completely at the mercy of the host - you can be booted without warning whenever.
If you do get a fight, you're then in a match of lag russian roulette. The room could be flagged green right until the match starts, then all of a sudden it drops to black and an ass-kicking ensues. All of this and some horribly underhand tactics lead to an unenjoyable experience.
That said, this update does SOUND like it fixes a lot of these irks, but because I'm not in the US I can't check it out unfortunately. Hopefully the update comes to Europe but I really don't know why we're once again left out in the cold.

If you liked Tekken Tag then you should definitely like Tekken DR... Online is kinda tricky at first but once I figured out how to actually get into online matches it was a lot of fun! If you have friends in the PSN that play it already then it is much easier to get online then searching for the rooms themselves I noticed though.

You should probably point out that unless you bought the online add-on, you won't get the prompt. So those of us who don't care about playing online but do care about rumble are SOL unless we pony up the $10.

I bought the standard version when it first came out. And, I really don't want to pony up $10 for online...I don't want to play online. Anyways....this is not fair.

I'm a sucker though, I'll probably pay for it now.

I accepted the update and rumble works but now there's no sound!? Great update; I even deleted and redownloaded both! Anyone else having this issue?

I figured it out, its all the tweaking i've been doing with the new audio options. Just go to sound options and do automatic and it fixes it.

FINALLY!!!! i've been waiting for this damn update!!!!! Ok fun time it is.. got my DS3 and my pick up match mode ready!!!

NOw i can just play when i'm not on CoD4.. oh wait.. that may not be a lot now!!!!
But still glad we got it!!!
Oh Oh I know... DID THEY FIX THE DAMN RANKINGS SO THAT IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE MACHINE???
IU've had to send back my PS3 '2' times and it puts me back to fucking beginner ranking everytime... quite annoying!!!
