Harmonix and MTV announce first complete album download, more to come
Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that the first complete album download for Rock Band will be coming next week (April 24). The first album? It's Judas Priest's 1982 hit "Screaming For Vengeance."
All 10 tracks on the album are original master recordings. The full album is priced at $14.99, but if you just want individual songs, you can still purchase any of the ten tracks for $1.99 a pop. Also, Newsweek's N'Gai Croal got the scoop on next month's downloadable album: "The Cars" by The Cars. The future of full albums will continue to grow with "Doolittle" by The Pixies, which is expected for June.

THE CARS!!!!
That is one of my top 10 favorite albums!
Thank you MTV and Harmonix!!
Davsot @ Apr 18th 2008 7:57PM
THE CARS!!!!! Holy shitake mushrooms! I'm gonna buy rock band just for the CARS! seriously, need more. :D drooling
emaxximus @ Apr 19th 2008 12:14AM
'Breaking the Law' was a track on the judas priest album 'British Steel'.
OddyOh @ Apr 18th 2008 11:30AM
I've positively no interest in any of those albums mentioned, but it's a great idea. When's "Nevermind" coming?
Lars @ Apr 18th 2008 2:17PM
Same here. Where's my Nevermind!
Oh and this is not the first announcement of complete album downloads. They announced others last year, they just never delivered. They actually had said "Nevermind and [whatever the other one was] will be available as full album downloads by the end of the year." I'll believe it when I see it.
gk128 @ Apr 18th 2008 2:36PM
If you like Nirvana you should be very interested in the Pixies.
Not only is "Doolittle" an amazing album, but Kurt Cobain himself is quoted in Rolling Stone saying that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was his attempt to write a Pixies song.
Brambler @ Apr 18th 2008 11:34AM
This is very disappointing to me. I was really hoping for Nevermind. 0/3 on the full albums for me! Good job Harmonix!
jpneiswi @ Apr 18th 2008 11:34AM
I'm waiting for them to come out with some Incubus...Guitar Hero 1 had a terrible remake of Stellar, but I think if the guys from Incubus would let them, some of their stuff would be great on Rock Band...maybe some Phish too ;-)
Tony @ Apr 18th 2008 11:42AM
Pixies!! Nice...the other two are kind of...meh. Seriously, Judas Priest as the first album? Not so impressed with that...
MMLgamer @ Apr 18th 2008 12:07PM
I'm made of metal.
My circuits gleam.
I am perpetual.
I keep the country clean.
YES! I can't WAIT to sing Electric Eye. I loved that song on Guitar Hero Encore.
yoc527 @ Apr 18th 2008 12:08PM
Don't count out the Pixies - It will be absolutely fantastic in Rock Band.
jerrrrrry @ Apr 18th 2008 12:17PM
huh?! what about Boston's self-titled album? That's available and is a full album, no?
XanthouS @ Apr 18th 2008 12:28PM
Basically. The Boston 6-pack, coupled with the on-disc "Foreplay/Long Time" leaves us one track short of having their full debut album.
Nick @ Apr 18th 2008 12:32PM
Doolittle?!!? I can't wait to play Crackity Jones
kidqwik @ Apr 18th 2008 12:42PM
Sigh.. Why can't we get GOOD DLCs for Rockband? Why are we only getting what the people who work there want released and not what the people who actually paid for Rockband want? They really need to hire a current generation employee who gets current and not so long ago songs released for DLC.
nerrrrrrd @ Apr 18th 2008 1:03PM
and what amazing album would you like for DLC for this 'current' generation?
anthonyjh @ Apr 18th 2008 1:06PM
Um, I like the songs. Why do people always seem to think their opinion is law? Get tha fudge out.
shortyvs @ Apr 18th 2008 12:52PM
I look at this as just more tracks, only a lot all at once. I'm not gonna buy the whole album just because it's there. I'll get some tracks that I know I like. I like a couple on the Judas Priest and The Cars album. But at least it doesn't interrupt the regular flow of DLC. The best thing about Rock Band DLC is the consistency.
Dan Davis @ Apr 18th 2008 2:13PM
Being that I'm a total Rock Band whore and buy everything that is released, these full albums are going to put a small dent in my beer money. At least they are only releasing one a week (for now?).
Suggestion: Dark Side of the Freakin' Moon for an album download!
Davsot @ Apr 18th 2008 5:53PM
THE CARS!!!! Holy shitake mushrooms! I'll probably buy the game just for this album. :D drooling
Scilent @ Apr 19th 2008 12:00AM
Judas priest is my favorite metal band of all time....this alone makes me want to buy Rock Band. It's gonna be hard to resist the urge :( I thought they were only gonna get crappy nirvana or something like that but this is awesome.
theboy @ Apr 19th 2008 12:01AM
holy crap, the cars. I think I just crapped my pants. I just posted they should put that on the game last week. HA! THEY LISTEN TO ME.
Waqman @ Apr 19th 2008 12:06AM
WTF? Who's Next by The Who was the first Downloadable album announced (along with Nevermind) so why isn't that available first?
That album would have been especially epic on the drums and vocals. And bass and lead guitar.
TheTreasoner @ Apr 19th 2008 11:00AM
They just have to build up to Who's Next. I mean, they probably figured that releasing the greatest Rock album of all time would just leave sales of the following full albums in a slump. Gotta build up to the best.
emir989 @ Apr 19th 2008 3:02PM
man where the hell is MAster Of Puppets??? and Who's Next, and NEvermind. I dont want the gay a** Pixies, Judas Priest is ok but not the whole album. Seriously they need to also get more "current" all they are doing is releasing "classic" rock, which is fine, bu where is the new rock, where is System of a Down? and GodSmack, Red Hot Chilli Peppers? aaahhh.....and where in the world is Green day and Linkin Park!!!
emir989 @ Apr 19th 2008 3:03PM
oohh and Korn and Pantera too.
emir989 @ Apr 19th 2008 3:15PM
RedHotChilliPeppers, Godsmack, Queen, MAster OF Puppets, Creed,System Of A Down where is the new rock stuff, stop it with classic rock already, I like it but thats not all I wantto play
