Konami will replace broken beta codes
Brandon Laurino of Konami Online has written another post on the PlayStation.Blog to address a number of questions people have had about the Metal Gear Online beta. The most pressing query being about a number of Metal Gear Online beta keys missing digits and, therefore, being unusable. People who are affected by this are advised to contact Konami Support, making sure to include your broken code and a return email address.
Laurino continues to answer more questions from users. While he does so we find out that Konami representatives will be participating in the beta themselves and that we should "stay tuned" for more info. This is also the case if you are after more details on the "gunmetal PS3" bundle which was announced last week. Funnily enough, though, no mention has been made of the fact that it is currently impossible to get a Konami ID from the website. The beta starts on Monday, so we're hoping that will be fixed before then. Otherwise Konami could have a lot of angry PS3 owners on their hands.

I managed to get my konami/game ID last night at about 3:00 A.M. I am all downloaded and ready to rock!!
Nerdkiller @ Apr 18th 2008 8:20PM
I downloaded the beta off the PSN, but I just don't know what to do with the patch. I don't know what to do on the peer to peer and I can't connect (wirelessly) on the servers. I need help.
pedestrian @ Apr 20th 2008 7:44AM
we all do man. we all do...
dblakenz @ Apr 18th 2008 9:17PM
The Peer 2 Peer, is a bit stange, mine was going fine till it got to bout 23% then stoped, I restarted the beta and nothing would happen, in the end i just left it going, it took about 20-30 min then it finally just started working and finished d/l the update, took a few hours though!
gooftroop @ Apr 19th 2008 9:28AM
if using the peer to peer option and are having trouble you may need to set up some port forwarding (if your router cant work it out automatically via upnp)... if thats doesnt work your ISP might be blocking bittorrent traffic
jusama14 @ Apr 18th 2008 8:58PM
The actual site is working right now but whenever I try to register it says "An error has occurred.
Due to a period of inactivity, the page has been deleted.
Please click on the below link to return to the top page."
so I try again and either I get that same message or it says "An error has occurred, please contact the administrator."
This sucks...
Random1448 @ Apr 18th 2008 9:08PM
funnily? lol
CONFUSEDgam3r @ Apr 18th 2008 9:18PM
LOL.
I registered on the KONAMI ID site days ago, so I guess I'm lucky? Can't wait forthe Beta. If any of you see my name online say whats up from PS3 Fanboy. I don't think I've played online with any of you yet...
Lavat @ Apr 18th 2008 9:30PM
I was actually able to make a new account again because I did not like the name of the old one. If you want to try and get a ID I found this in the playstation Forums of MGS.
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=mgs&thread.id=255479
There is also another Thread in there how to get around it.
Justin @ Apr 18th 2008 9:36PM
i tried that method for a good 4 hrs earlier today
idk if it works for others, but it sure didn't work for me.
=[
ajiezer @ Apr 19th 2008 12:30PM
Thanks a lot Lavat, that link definitively paid off
Justin @ Apr 18th 2008 9:29PM
HEY PEOPLE!
The Konami ID is easier (MUCH EASIER) to get using this method:
Firefox
(disable images)
and use the AutoFormer extension.
I swear I just got my ID in less than 2 minutes
if you go thru the prompts w/ the images disabled, the page loads in mere seconds if that, then put in your info, go to EDIT> AUTOFORMER> SAVE ALL FIELDS
then click next
and next again, then when you get to the page to fill out all of your info, make sure its filled out CORRECTLY the first time, (you can take your time w/ this page) then hit EDIT > AUTOFORMER > SAVE ALL FIELDS..., then click "NEXT"....it should take you to the final page where you review and hit "REGISTER"
if that page times out, simply go back to the homepage, hit register, then click next, next, next, next, and register without having to re-input alllllll your info. its already saved!
got it off of a forum, but i'm not a member so i couldn't properly give him credit.
Hope this helps...it DEFINITELY helped me.
I'll be here to answer any questions if needed.
bigstupid @ Apr 18th 2008 10:15PM
thanks Justin, I tried for a couple of hours earlier and had no success. I tried your way and got through on first time! See you in the beta.
Justin @ Apr 18th 2008 10:26PM
no problem!
hope more people see this and try it because it DOES work!
ONLY problem you might run into is if your Konami ID is already taken lol
anyways, glad I could help. and glad somebody helped me.
see you online!
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 1:11AM
Sorry, I'm dumb. How do you disable images in firefox?
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 1:12AM
Tools > Options > Content > uncheck 'load images automatically'
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 1:16AM
Oh, and for the Game ID and the Konami ID it says "IDs contain 8-32 lowercase letters, numbers, periods, hyphens, and underscores". Does that mean that I'd have to have an ID like this "Autopsy_15-." ??? WTF?
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 1:17AM
lol, no.
it can be all letters, or a combinations of letters and numbers
or letters and underscores
or letters numbers and underscores
but no capital letters
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 1:18AM
Lol. Ok good, just checking.
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 1:19AM
no problem
lemme know if it works =]
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 1:21AM
Omg. Even without images loaded, the Konami site isn't moving past the home page for me and my wireless is getting 54Mbps! I have very little faith in Konami being able to handle this beta if they can't handle a simple registry site. Ohhh lordy.
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 1:24AM
are you serious?
its still working perfectly for me.
http://id.konami.net
i could do it for you, but you'd have to give me all your info
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 1:32AM
Ok, the website's working now, but I installed AutoFormer and restarted Firefox, but in the Edit bar there's no section for AutoFormer. This is such a pain!
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 1:39AM
wow, idk whats going on.
its at the bottom of the edit menu for me.
Autopsy15 @ Apr 19th 2008 2:01AM
I guess God and Konami just hate me right now. Don't worry though, I'll figure it out somehow.
ajiezer @ Apr 19th 2008 12:27PM
Thanks a lot Justin, combining your method and the link provided by Lavat I finally made it. :D
Justin @ Apr 19th 2008 12:30PM
no prob buddy ;]
John @ Apr 18th 2008 9:36PM
I just received mine today hooray.
Ishimaru @ Apr 18th 2008 9:41PM
I'm sorry, but this whole "Konami ID" thing is just bullshit. If you're going to require this BS, at LEAST make your website available to actually create one >_< Just pure garbage...

Hi Jem, in a reply to a user of the forum Brandon Laurino said that the issue of getting an id will be fixed:
"Hi everyone! Due to incredibly high demand for the Metal Gear Online Beta test, we are aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties connecting to the Konami ID site.
We are adding more servers and working around the clock to resolve this issue. We thank you for your patience, and your participation in the Metal Gear Online Beta test."
Ishimaru @ Apr 18th 2008 9:53PM
That's just a bold faced lie! If you were working around the clock, this issue would be resolved by now...but how long has it been since we've been complaining?
Dahk @ Apr 19th 2008 1:43AM
Eh outsourcing additional servers takes extra work. And way longer if they're permanently setting those themselves.
Besides, its not that bad. I got my beta key on wednesday, and now its Friday night and the site is working fine.
Mr BoomStick XL @ Apr 18th 2008 10:00PM
I hate to say this, but this online game mode is going to be a complete disaster!! The game comes out in less than 2 months and Konami is'nt even using the PSN, they are using their own server!! That worries me and REALLY hope that it comes out on the XBLA, they don't have these problems!!
held225 @ Apr 18th 2008 10:41PM
@mr boom did you just say "i hope it comes out on XBLA" WTF!? What part of Xbox cant handle MGS dont you understand ?? and PSN is just as good as XBLA... and over last christmas XBLA had to shutdown for some time you call that "reliable"?. And since this is just a Beta we have to use a Konami ID however the real game will be on PSN. And some of these people here can only blame themselves, after all they announced that you need a Konami ID 2 weeks ago....
frankym @ Apr 18th 2008 10:46PM
They are not using the PSN because it's a BETA you dumb a**!
The point of the beta is to work out all major issues before play on PSN. Also buddy, I hate to break it to you bit this game will never be on XBLA..its PS3 only.
Scram troll...
ajiezer @ Apr 18th 2008 10:10PM
@ Ishimaru, well they must be doing something, I just pasted what I saw, the truth is only known by them but I hope it's fixed asap, I've almost given up for all the time wasted in the whole process.
Ishimaru @ Apr 18th 2008 11:21PM
Sorry for the "brashness", it wasn't directed towards you :)
Ripcord83 @ Apr 18th 2008 10:32PM
Just got my K-ID this morning, It took forever!
Michael @ Apr 18th 2008 10:33PM
I was getting all the errors, but when I noticed all the rules about the passwords and other inputs I created one.
Bobloblaw @ Apr 18th 2008 11:23PM
It's working fine now.
JAH75157 @ Apr 18th 2008 11:23PM
if you need a broken konami code you could allways go to this post....

Kryptik @ Apr 19th 2008 12:04AM
Just to throw my two cents in...
I just managed to register my KonamiID, by (partially) following the info posted above by Justin.
I didn't use a script at all, just disabled images in Firefox. My advice is this... Disable images and start the registration process. Check for availability of the KonamiID and GameID you want to use. As soon as you find them, try to complete your registration. At this point, I got the same old "page has been deleted" error the first time around. I just went back to the top and started again, filling out the information as fast as possible (easy when you know the IDs you've chosen are available). Second time through, no problems at all.
It all seems to be a timeout issue. Unfortunately, it seems to time out in mere seconds (that has to be one busy server).
I could be wrong, as I really don't know shit about servers and such, but it worked. The ends justify the means, as they say.
ajiezer @ Apr 19th 2008 12:08AM
@ Ishimaru, don't worry we all are kinda mad I guess for what's going on :D
Ishimaru @ Apr 19th 2008 12:12AM
Oh come the F on...
This e-mail address has already been registered along with a different KONAMI ID.
An e-mail address can not be registered for multiple KONAMI ID's.
Please register a different e-mail address or delete the KONAMI ID that is registered with the e-mail address you have tried to register.
So not only are ALL of my ID's gone because of this BS, BOTH of my e-mail addresses are gone too?!?! Give me a break Konami...
ChodalBerryWagon @ Apr 19th 2008 12:27AM
thats what its saying for me! so friggin annoying!!
Panacinos @ Apr 19th 2008 9:35AM
Same problem here i have tried 3 different e-mail addresses and none of them apparently worked
however when i go to the forgot ID or password is says that my E-mail addresses aren't registered
contacted Konami 3-4 days ago and still heard nothing back even called in they told me to just e-mail
also i was one of the "lucky" ones to get a 9 Digit code still waiting on that reply as well
ajiezer @ Apr 19th 2008 12:35AM
maybe the better thing to do is give it a rest until tomorrow, it's obvious that we are wasting our time, so Mr. Kojima we are even, you are not completely satisfied with MGS4 and we are not satisfied with the service of your publisher :S
