COD4 Map Pack pulled forward for Europe
Here's some good news for Europe for a change. The Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4 has been pulled forward to give it a simultaneous release worldwide. COD4 fans will be able to get their hands on it this Thursday, April 24th. As a result, the double XP weekend has also been brought forward and will commence at 12:01am GMT on Friday and finishing at 11:59pm PDT on Sunday. Because of the time difference, this means an extra 8 hours of double experience.
"Play with Infinity Ward" day is now Friday April 25th and members of the team will be playing between the hours of 11am and 2pm PDT as well as between 5pm and 8pm PDT. Sounds like fun to us, we'll almost certainly be playing. Our only question is, if Konami finally gets their act together and begins the MGO beta on Friday, how do we choose between them? It's going to be a busy weekend.
[Thanks Marc and Wilboss]

Thanks for the mention Jem!
I think the choice (CoD4 or MGO) will be decided by which servers fail first :(
When the CoD maps were released for XBox they were downloaded 1 million times in the first 9 days and crashed the Marketplace - will the new PS Store be able to cope?
TiddlesRX7 @ Apr 24th 2008 2:29AM
Is this confirmed? What time will it be put on the psn? its not on there now.
derosgt (my ps3 online name) @ Apr 26th 2008 3:59PM

Dahk @ Apr 22nd 2008 9:43AM
Nah, wrong idea. MGO Beta actually ENDS, while CoD's maps will always be there lol.
kentuckyfried @ Apr 22nd 2008 3:47PM
ditto on that one....MGO is limited time only.
Is the Double XP in COD just for the new maps only? It that's the case, MGO all the way!
Andy @ Apr 22nd 2008 9:45AM

If I can get one of those new PSN cards in time to buy the new map pack then it will be COD4 all weekend long for me.
TimBob @ Apr 22nd 2008 9:50AM
11 - 2 and 5 - 8 on a Friday? What about those of us who work for a living in the Eastern and Central time zones? Don't any of the devs have PS3s and play at home?
drdre74 @ Apr 22nd 2008 9:54AM
If I cant get online on the MGSO beta this weekend then I'll buy the map pack. But if I can then i'll wait on buying it since GTA is only a few days after that. So between the MGSO and the GTA4 i'm not gonna even play COD4 anymore for awhile unless some friends invite me to play. COD4 is a dead game starting next week.

Hmm think its gonna have to be COD this weekend, have that burning feeling that the MGO servers are going to be strained on Friday....
solidbigboss @ Apr 22nd 2008 10:34AM
Seeing as we always complain when deadlines are put back, I think its only right that we thank infinity ward and scee for bringing forward the release. I know that personally I would much prefer to find a release date has been brought forward from when I expected rather than put back.

Is COD4 GOTY coming out tomorrow also??? plaase confirm. According to AMAZON it due to may 6th.
Aaron @ Apr 22nd 2008 10:47AM
Why would you want to play COD4? IW doesn't even want to patch in rumble. MGO has rumble. MGO deserves your time not COD4.
solidbigboss @ Apr 22nd 2008 11:27AM
Im a big fan of MGS but I dont understand how you can say a game is more deserving of your time when you havent played it, for all we know MGO could be the worst game ever. As regards the rumble on COD4, its not a deal breaker for me.
Dahk @ Apr 23rd 2008 3:29PM
Because MGS1, MGS3, and MGS3 were all legendary. Absolutely legend (run away if you're lactose intolerant) DAIRRRRY.
And MGS4 is supposed to surpass all of them in every aspect. Even according to Kojima, who is probably the most modest guy ever lol.
harry @ Apr 22nd 2008 11:46AM
how much is this call of duty 4 variety map pack for ?? 10 bucks ?
tboy123 @ Apr 22nd 2008 2:34PM
I think its $8 (still a rip off). But I wont be getting it, and no I wont be playing MGO either...
Warhawk is the game with my attention {for now} with the Broken Mirror expansion. (Which in my opinion is 200000x better than Omega Dawn!)
Kris @ Apr 22nd 2008 3:15PM
no serously, now's the time to have a ps3
kevin @ Apr 22nd 2008 3:47PM
im deff. gettin this sorry konami you just lost a costumer for delaying and being unstable
JoeTheBlow81 @ Apr 22nd 2008 5:14PM
I'm sure a loss of a costumer will hit their next fancy dress party hard.
wuddel @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:34AM
Looking forward to it. I never played a MGS-title, so I do nate care about MGO. Also I think that great single player titles necessarily make great multiplayer titles. In fact there are a lot of games where I enjoy the campaign, but the online-play is just not fun and/or accessible. GRAW2 being an example.
John Daily @ Apr 23rd 2008 10:42AM
how much are the maps going to cost for PS3?
Bob @ Apr 24th 2008 4:34PM
Thank you Jem for your fantastic European coverage. Youre awesome. I'm going to playing COD4 mostly but i will try MGO
