The real (leaked) intro to Grand Theft Auto IV [Update]

There's no denying it: this is the real deal. A leaked video of the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV's intro has been making its way across the web. However, this is the only one that includes (shock!) in-game footage and gameplay. Rockstar is actively trying to shut all of these videos down, so we hope you'll be able to see this by the time you get to it.

Update: Looks like Rockstar's ninjas have finally killed this video. If we find another host, we'll put it up. Until then, enjoy some direct-feed gameplay, after the cut (while it lasts!).

yeah, and ironically like most topics these days, 360 games/demos/vids/patches/DLC/PiratedGTAIV-vids were out before PS3.

yeah just want to mention that the framerate looks good! was one thing i was worried about rockstar to the rescue. cant wait till this graces my ps3. hoping play-asia ships it out on time for me to have it on launch day!

I prefer to wait to watch it. Nothing like getting home after buying the game, and watching all the intros on your own tv. Watching them in advance sorta brings down the anticipation.

Me too, but this game has a much less deep storyline than the MGS series. I watched it, and I can't wait to buy it.

this game looks great. I'm not even sure if i'm going to get the COD4 map pack now that this is coming out next week. I doubt I'll even play call of duty anymore.

Wow, the presentation on the intro got me really excited! I wasn't going to buy this cause I'm tired of GTA, but the intro made me wanna go out and get it! Then I saw the gameplay and remembered that it's just GTA with gussied up piktures. Might rent.

You cant rent a game like this, it apparently has 100 hours of gameplay and regarding your comment about GTA becoming boring who doesn't want to act 'gangsta' and break the laws? To me games are a representation of things that are Imposible or extremely hard in real life and its extremely hard to destroy the police and get away with it

That makes us no worse then the 8 millions nerds who went out to Halo 3, or Smash Brothers, or GT5.

All these games are repeats, why shout GTA be any different, all devs do is take another successful game such as Half Life or something, add better graphics, slap some new characters in and a new plot and some original gameplay elements in, and bam, new game for silly gamers to buy.

It is absolutely your right to dislike the franchise...but alleging that the games are lousy OR that they are always just "more of the same" is highly inaccurate.

What I mean is, with the possible exception of Play magazine, I never really hear people complaining that game critics are too generous with their reviews. If anything, most people seem to find game critics overly harsh in their assessments of a game's quality. With that in mind, note the review scores that have been given to past GTA installments, and the few that have trickled in so far for this one. They aren't just decent, they're glowing. Even if you, personally, don't enjoy them, it is extremely narrow-minded and willfully obtuse to try and transform that into a reflection on the game's quality. It is merely a reflection of your own personal tastes. YOU don't like GTA games. And that is fine, and you are not wrong to feel this way. It is, after all, your feeling. It is valid. BUT you might consider the possibility (and I'm being generous by calling it a 'possibility') that this has nothing at all to do with the game's execution, but is solely based on a distaste that you, personally, have with the subject matter or game style.

And as far as the "more of the same" argument goes, as someone else already pointed out, ANY franchise pretty much sticks to a given formula throughout its sequels. Changes are (usually) merely cosmetic, with slight gameplay tweaks and perhaps a new play mechanic or two. GTA is no exception. Yes, it follows a formula, but Rockstar has always brought at least one thing new to the table with each new iteration of the series, and this installment definitely looks to be continuing that trend.

So, my point is: I fully support your right to hate GTA, just don't claim it's because it's a bad game. It's a good game that you happen to not like.

With the article hyping up this video's rarity and trying to pump up my desire to watch it, I was completely expecting a Rick Astley video. Seems to be legit though, although I skipped right to the gameplay so as not to ruin the intro.

I can't wait!!....and thank for those vids @ #20....that was awesome. I wish RE5 would have the ability to walk and shoot at the same time. And to the ones who don't like GTA....just don't buy it, stop being concerned why others like it no matter what (even if you think it the same thing over and over)....if its not for you shut up and move on to another game that you like....geez. Would you want your game on the internet all over the place and people are making videos of them bad or good. It def stops the hype of the game. No developers or publisher would want that.
To the people who hate gta, im guessing you guys hate the Beatles as well. If you make a and that game goes to get game of the year, would you make a different game? So 87% of the fan base will leave and still play the original. If Halo did that no one would play Halo, same thing with twisted metal and look at Socom I and II one of the best shooting games, Zipper was like oh lets make a new game and they failed. What Rockstar did with this game is pretty amazing and they invented open world and be interactive. I havent played a game that even close to what they did besides saint row (lol) that was a gangster joke. The only bad part is that Rockstar had to fit it on a dvd format disc because of the 360 but im glad 360 is getting so everyone can actually play this.

Also, to the people who hate gta, what games do you play that have. Every single game is pretty much the same as the first but with different guns, different abilities, different story, new enemies, and THE SAME GAMEPLAY.
