European PSN Store update for April 24th

There's a pleasing amount of new content made available today on the European PlayStation Store. It's not very often we get to say that, but this week is surprisingly good. We'll sit back for a couple more weeks before throwing SCEE a "We Forgive You!" party, but for now we're placated. Here's the full release list, in a new handy-dandy format:

Two PS1 games? Yes please. Good ones, too. This is more like what we expected from the service. No more Reel Fishing, thanks. We're also pleased to see the Resistance 2 trailer going up today, alongside the American release. That and the Variety Map Pack start to make us wonder whether SCEE really is serious about fixing their problems with the European Store. Keep it up.

Though how $9.99 becomes £6.99 I have no idea...

Also, been looking at getting Bishi Bashi Special off eBay for a while so might grab that as well :)

Why isn't SCE releasing serious games like Final fantasy and metal gear solid or resident evil ??!! we are only left with crappy games that no one would buy or even look at !?!?

It is fun you tard, maybe not for you, but it doesn't mean it isn't fun. I've played Bishi Bashi and it was very fun to be honest.

All those great PS1 games youve mentioned will come, but SCEE need to straighten their act a bit, it takes a while. You just have to be patient. Otherwise, you don't even deserve it. North America hardly gets any PS1 downloads, if at all...

Agreed, cen. Bishi Bashi? huh? What's the point of putting something up there if noone knows enough about it to look at it twice? C&C is a good choice though. I think good ones will come. Japan is getting MGS I read somewhere, so it should follow elsewhere, surely. I'm hoping for Tomb Raider II, personally.

I got Wipeout thinking it'd be a blast from the past, but when you compare the driving mechanics (not just graphics), it really is a bad game next to Pulse. G-Police is very good though!

Bishi Bashi! The original mini-game party title! Amazing. Dozens and dozens of 5-10 second silly button combo games. It sounds so clichéd now with the Wii getting a title that fits that description every month or so, but when the Bish- Bashi games were out on the PS1 it was amazing. I am buying it.

plus £7 pound for maps tht only work on 3 game types that no one plays is abit of a rip off

I dont like the way the new maps work in COD4.
You get a choice of;

Variety Pack Team Deathmatch
Variety Pack Objective (Randomly picking from HQ, Sabotage, S&D etc)
Variety Pack Old School

I really wish you could pick what objective you want when you're playing, cos i love S&D and now I'll only get random plays of it.

Quick question.

I imported Call of Duty 4 from the States. Does that mean I have to buy the map pack from the US store? I think it does, but I want to be sure.

I'd imagine so. Dont take my word for it though. But I'd be pretty sure as i know that downloaded guitar hero songs only work with the region that the game is from.

Be warned before buying Command & Conquer!!!!

This new version has no game speed slider in the options (The original PS1 verision did) and the game is fixed at the highest speed level.

For those of us who aren't humming birds or high on speed the game runs too fast to play.

You know what's even more fun than having the CoD4 Map Pack Region locked? Buying the game in Switzerland as well as downloading the maps from the Swiss (German) PSN Store (for approximately twice the US price) to find out, that it won't work due to reasons that we may never know... wtf?

Apparently the new CoD4 maps will be playable in all modes from next week according the message in-game.
Having to pick from the 3 Variety options is pretty annoying though, with double XP already in effect I want to be playing Headquarters to rack up the points, but you also get Domination (ok for points), Sabotage (long game low points) or Search & Destroy (no points if you have a bad game!).
Also has anyone actually played the Killhouse map yet? I was playing for around 5-6 hours last night, switching between Variety Team Deathmatch and Objective games and it didn't come up once! So £7 for 3 maps so far...
