Why Crisis Core is on PSP, not DS
Square Enix is a firm supporter of both handhelds, with a number of great titles available on both Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. However, why was (arguably) their biggest game developed exclusively for PSP, instead of the more-popular DS? Pocket Gamer talked to producer
Hideki Imaizumi and executive producer Yoshinori Kitase about exactly that:
"Yes, there are a lot of DSs out there - but does that mean that our products sell in relation to that? That our sales grow with how many DSs or PSPs there are out there? It's not really the case."
The PSP seemed appropriate for a number a reasons, one being the more adult age group the PSP seems to attract: "the demographic was higher teens to young adults as opposed to small children. The PSP seemed closer to that demographic than DS in general. So we feel we really made the right choice."
As a joke, he added "We'll make a DS game called Brain Age: Final Fantasy for DS [laughs]." To be honest, we wouldn't mind trying that out.

Silly. Everyone knows those god awful Nomura character designs can only rot your brain.

We all now PSP has more power than the DS, or that's what I had found on the specs of bout handhelds, also, FF:Crisis Core wouldn't feature any kind of touching good on the game, so the main attractive of the DS wouldn't be used.
I'm a Nintendo FanBoy, I think Wii and the DS are the greatest thing that could ever happen so far to the gaming world, still, I do like the PS lineage and the PSP, i'm getting soon a PSP so i'm not mad that this game keep to be a exclusive of the PSP. Still, the DS is getting a remake of Final Fantasy IV, which is a OMFG remake!! and 'll be playing it on one of my 2^128 friends DS

The DS would not have been able to support the amount of detail that went into the character development in Crisis Core. Honestly, I would hate the game (which I love) if all of the characters looked like that of FFIII DS or FFCC:ROF.

Still, FFIII and FFIV are awesome games...
Plus, characters from PS1 FFVII look the same.......
I have both consoles, I love both, I have 3 Final Fantasy games for DS and 2 for PSP...
And I´m not a FF fan, more RPG fan......

The DS gets a lot more SquareEnix lovin' than the PSP. Yeah, Crisis Core is great, but that's about it. FFTactics on the PSP sucked, and the classic remakes are much better on the DS.
So wanting CC on DS sounds just plain greedy to me.

The ds couldn't handle the kickassness that is Crisis Core. A ds CC game would have had non-ps2 graphics, less music, less FMVs, and it would have been a smaller game, considering things were axed because a single umd couldn't hold everything.

I love Nomura's designs. I like Amano's designs as well, but Nomura's designs most of the time, just pure badass. Crazy spikey hair, a dozen belts, lots of zippers and leather. I wish I could dress like that and go outside without people laughing at me.
"There are four major people involved in the FFVII universe. If one of those people died it might disrupt the balance..!"
lol.

One reason could be that back when Square-Enix was Sqauresoft Sony published the game. So I think they get a say on what system FFVII will go on. So you have one on the PS1,PS2 and PSP. Each are different versions but because Sony payed money for the publishing rights then may be this could mean some day Sony gets a say on the remake of FFVII for the PS3.

Yea they really need to make FF7 (original) story more accesible to the new gamer audience. I have a nephew who is 12 years old and says "FF7 is awesome!" though the only game he has played was Dirge of Cerberus. Therefore he has no knowledge of the story (not that he would understand it). He has played through most of FFX though he calls it Final Fantasy "ex". He has advent children practically memorized.
With all of these final fantasy prequels/spin offs coming around, all the new players could really benefit from a remake of the game that started it all. Everyone who played the original would buy it as well as many other gamers if not to only see what the "hype" is all about. Hell, I would even take it on the PSP with updated "PS2" graphics but obviously a PS3 remake would be optimal. I guarantee that a remake on the PS3 would push more gamers (like me) who still haven't purchased a PS3 over the edge... if MGS4 doesn't do that first.
My opinion on the topic of this post... OMG FF7:CC cut-scenes...!

Who cares why the PSP was the choice .... and untill they bring games like KH : BBS and Dissidia I continuously wont care :P

I thought the party line around here was the devs didn't want to make games for the PSP because of all the rampant piracy?
Wait, are you now saying that maybe they make intelligent choices about which platform they develop for?
sigh. Probably only have to wait a week or so until you go back to yelling at us for piracy because square said they are only going to release Final Fantasy VII.2.2.2, Cloud's Revenge on NDS.
