More Silent Hill: Homecoming screens to creep you out
Returning home has never been such a creepy experience. Well, at least for Alex Shepherd, our main dude for Silent Hill: Homecoming. Perhaps someone should have warned him not to drive out during a misty fog. We guess he didn't get the memo. Anyhow, it's his fault for transporting himself to a place of silent, empty streets. On the bright side of things, if he hadn't done the big no-no, then we wouldn't have these screenshots to show you, or a game for that matter.
In these screenshots we have right here, we see some common Silent Hill scenery. We're talking about endless fog and bizarre symbols on the walls. Not to mention a glimpse at those unhelpful locals; they're usually way too busy looking like they haven't slept for weeks to even bother being friendly. Anyway, there's more to be seen, like faceless enemies, so check out the gallery.

Is it me or do the characters look very PS2ish?
Scorch @ Apr 27th 2008 11:41PM
Yea they are not much better, but i mean who really cares as long as the game plays as well as 3!

damn scary ,but graphics are a lil outdated

This looks awful. I'm saying this as a big Silent Hill fan i want to this game to be good just as much as anyone else but it just dosen't look hopeful. The characters and enviroments lack detail and its all looking rather bland. This game needs to be good or i fear it may be the end of this fantastic franchise. I am hoping there will be improvements to the graphics before the final game is released. I did read in an article that the grainy effect and the fog had not been done yet so its possible it may get better.

It's a shame to see how this is turning out. As you said the fog and grain haven't been implemented yet, but given the high standard of the SH series this title should have been impressing us from the very start.
Compare the difference between SH 1 & 2, it's incredible. Compare 2 with 5 and it's nowhere near as good. In fact SH2 actually looks BETTER in some places compared to this. I knew handing it over to a mediocre American team was a bad idea. Ah well.

From an inside source I am told these shots were taken from a build the devs use to test the game with faster framerate. If you look there aren't any normal maps on Shepard's coat. The actual textures including the water are much much nicer looking i'm told.
Of course releasing these screens wasn't really a wise decision, but rest assured the real thing looks much nicer. :)

Yowza, where are the textures? Surely the PS3 can do better.
tristan12 @ Apr 25th 2008 4:04PM
I don't understand it. Every new batch of screenshots looks worse than the one before. First they changed the detailed hair and made him look older, then they re-rendered the textures to make them washed out and horrible. Is this a joke? In 2 weeks I expect to see PSP graphics on this title. They're actually pretty close right now. And what's with the hideous logo? The original one was a lot better.

I think this series has really lost its edge. This series really needs a reboot, akin to Resident Evil 4 to jumpstart that spark it originally had.
The very things that made it differ from Resident Evil are now bringing the series to a stale, almost cliche stagnancy.
Come on Konami, skake it up!

Is this the same SH that's being made by the different developer?

I'm still sad the nurse had to die in the 2nd silent hill
Jerses @ Apr 25th 2008 9:46PM
The models look a lot like SH0.... i just really hope that this isnt the final in game graphs... even worse i hope they dont make a SH2 copy paste thing... Im changing my religion to SIREN this one is doomed.

siren looks better then this

The graphics aren't the best but nobody ever complained about Grand theft auto lol I hope the end product looks better than that though. Also some of the rooms they show feel empty like they need to add more to the enviroment so I hoep all that gets polished up also.

always been a big fan of the silent hill series, but really, it looks like it's modeled after every other version. sure it will be really sick, dope graphics, and an excellent story line as we're accustomed to, but is it going to be a "different" game? it's not looking like it.

This makes me want Mario Kart on Wii even more. Too scary..
