That's pretty much it, this week. Two games worldwide, but what more do you need? GTA IV should very well tide you over until the next major release. Depending on what you're excited for that's either Haze or Metal Gear Solid 4. With both of these games due within the next month and a half, now really is a great time to own a PS3.

Poor Iron Man. Theres already loads of shops in the UK that are selling it if you know where to go. Indie game shops, certain supermarkets.
Tranando @ Apr 27th 2008 8:09AM
Glad i'm getting the decent PS3 version, not the 360-tard-pack gimped version of GTA IV.
a.j. @ Apr 27th 2008 11:55AM
i already have it on the 360 and i can tell you 100% that the pop in in certain areas is really bad. not sure if the ps3 will be better, but it's definitely noticeable on the 360 from the get go. i'll be playing on the PS3 online though, feel free to add me on either :) PSN: THEMISSING XBL: THEMISSING
TinyTim121 @ Apr 27th 2008 12:17PM
Does the 360 version need/have an option for hard drive install?
Plus is it true the PS3 version needs install?
a.j. @ Apr 27th 2008 12:21PM
no 360 install, straight off the disc...i'd imagine the ps3 version will have some sort of install, i'd actually be disappointed if it didn't, there's a lot of loading.
Tranando @ Apr 27th 2008 12:30PM
PS3 version has a mandatory install (less than 10mins), but the load times are almost non existent.
360 frequently has 30 second load times.
As for pop-in, it's supposed to be significantly less on PS3, same with framerate dips, less on PS3.
360 gets the tard-version...
Marc B @ Apr 27th 2008 12:51PM
Yeah, I've read (i think in the IGN review) that there are no loading times whatsoever for the PS3 version compared to frequent small loading times for the 360.
Zeus.:God @ Apr 27th 2008 1:33PM
Tranando, stop spreading shit- you wouldn't know either way about pop up, and you obviously don't know about load times. The PS3 has the mandatory install to be able to load relatively quickly, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the 360 end up loading faster as it does in nearly every multiplatform game.
From the gameplay videos I've seen of GTA IV (on the 360) the pop-up is pretty much nonexistant, but I'll have to wait until I get my copy to be sure.
Damn transexual fanboys.
TinyTim121 @ Apr 27th 2008 4:18PM
Ah, okay.
Thanks Tranando, Marc B and a.j.
Just wondering now if anyone knows the size of the install?
@ Zeus.:God
Grow up yeah? Tranando hasn't done anything wrong.
I mean he only said "As for pop-in, it's supposed to be significantly less on PS3"...focus on supposed. If anything a.j. is spreading stuff...and i wouldn't say he is, he's just saying his oppinion.
Anyway, PS3 fanboys should have a game that runs better on their system than the rivals; I think we're all fed up of getting worse ports of great games *cough ORANGE BOX cough*
Stop acting like a child...how do i know your acting like a child? Because adults don't run around saying "Damn transexual fanboys"
kg @ Apr 27th 2008 10:53AM
Wooooooohooo....Iron Man! Hope the shops open at midnight :)
punk @ Apr 27th 2008 8:50AM
What do you mean? Gimped version? Does anyone know what that guy is on about. I will be getting the Ps3 version but to be honest, there really isn't much difference and either console owner would be happy with it..
I could care less about the extra content as it shouldn't affect the storyline without it.
One thing that puzzles me is why the Microsoft hasn't got a GTA IV console pack that had the extra bonus content included (when it becomes available). That would have been good marketing. Oh well.
Can't wait to get this on the PS3!!!
The_Punisher @ Apr 27th 2008 12:10PM
The IGN review points to more significant pop-in of the textures in the 360 version. :)
SG @ Apr 27th 2008 8:53AM
I'm surprised neither Joystiq or PS3 fanboy has posted about how within the IGN GTA IV review, for possibly the first time in history, they say that the PS3 version runs better (at least in the graphics department). This is a pretty big deal since there's likely a good chunk of people who would buy the 360 version because they expect it to be the better looking title. You'd figure SOMEONE would be all over that. It's worth mentioning regardless of what game it is, just because it's so unheard of. The fact that it happens to be the biggest game release of the year...
Tom @ Apr 27th 2008 9:29AM
Yeah I know what you mean... but given that at least one of the editors of PS3Fanboy has already admitted that he'll be playing it on the xbox360, perhaps it's not so surprising. Ah never mind. We'll enjoy the better graphics anyway!
Marc B @ Apr 27th 2008 9:48AM
Also I read on CVG that some analyist wrote a report for Reuters predicting that GTA4 will shift more on the PS3 and shift more hardware. Check it out.

Andy Yoonie have said on several ocations that he is getting the 360 version beacuse its "better" i guess he means DLC...
Since he is the top poster here in PS3 fanboy i don't think there is not going to be anything on that... thats too much flame since the game is so awesome that according to the review overshadows its flaws... Still PS3 version is way better, since i dont have a 360.
IGN: "For those wanting to know which version looks better, the edge goes to the PS3. The textures and framerate are comparable, but the PS3 has far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster. Don't worry Xbox owners, the load times are rarely more than 30 seconds and don't occur very often. The slight visual edge goes to PS3, but the 360 is no slouch."
"Is no Slouch".. is just not as good as the PS3 version.

GTA4, Haze, Wipeout HD, MGS4. A constant stream of awesome straight into my PS3 for the next two months.
chicken blade @ Apr 27th 2008 11:09AM
i like chicken alot....actually i dont even eat meat. So if you ask me GTA 4 is going to be the best thing since tossed salad....Or white rice depending on how Im feeling.
BTW does anyone live close to a meijer's retail store or know if they are for real on selling the game $10 cheaper. just wondering.
Dan Davis @ Apr 28th 2008 10:12AM
Meijer, eh? I'm guessing you live in either Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Kentucky...
My first high school job was pushing grocery carts at Meijer's on Pierson Road in Flint, Michigan :)
Cornerman8 @ Apr 27th 2008 9:50AM
GTAIV marks the beginning. From this point on, the era of Sony begins.
Marc B @ Apr 27th 2008 9:50AM
On another note, how pissed off must your marketing department be at the games developer/creater, if they push to release Iron Man the same time as GTA4.
Its not even an "alternative" as any teen who wants GTA4 and their parents go out and get Iron Man will probably start a riot...
Neil @ Apr 28th 2008 4:02AM
This is probably the release of the year for me. Glad I'm getting the PS3 version, GTA 0n Xbox just doesn't seem right to me. Oh well, Whatever version floats your boat, lets all rejoice !
frankym @ Apr 27th 2008 9:57AM
You guys think Haze will be worth buying?
SG @ Apr 27th 2008 10:41AM
Sh*t no. Unless it's revealed that the gameplay footage they've shown us so far was from a year-old build. It looks like a late PS2 game.
Titty Pink @ Apr 27th 2008 11:13AM
This Qtr is about GTA4, fuck everything else. Hopefully I'll have the campaign finished by the time MGS comes out...then I can d/l the COD4 maps...or finish UC...or Assassin's Creed...or will it be back to Rock Band...or Warhawk...hell I may even try Haze (not too excited about it, and wtf is up w/ the SOCOM graphics? If it doesn't look at least as good as COD4, don't bother me. You too Haze.) Don't know ho wI'm going to find time to watch all the Blu rays that we all apparently bought PS3s for, because we all know the PS3 has no games...right???
djpenny @ Apr 27th 2008 11:13AM
finally iron man coming out this week i can't wait for it WTF IS GTA4 sounds gay to me.
miglaugh @ Apr 27th 2008 10:36AM
Is anybody else taking tuesday off and pickin the game up tomorrow @ midnight?
I have a feeling business productivity is going to take a down-turn this week. At least my company's productivity. :)
Dan Davis @ Apr 28th 2008 10:07AM
I am... but I am working four 10's this week instead of taking an actual "sick" day :)
I'll be at GameStop @ midnight to claim it, and will be running hookers over by 12:30!
Morpheus @ Apr 27th 2008 11:06AM
Omg iron man!

jae29one @ Apr 27th 2008 11:09AM
The game is hot.. The graphic are life like (especially in movement) and the Online is fun as hell.. even though there not that much players... A bunch of raido stations with music that I want to here too.. Only thing I wish was that they put In game msg.. I guess their leaving it up to Sony..
marcandrer @ Apr 27th 2008 11:38AM
GTA is a docu-game about the Greater Toronto Area.. you get to learn tons of interesting stuff about the city. Like when was the CN Tower built, what was the last year the Leafs won the stanley cup and so on.. Great docu-game for everyone imo !! :)

On Tuesday the world will see Iron Man's suit get crushed by a Easter European bloke called Niko.
IGN's 10/10 kinda sealed the deal, my pre-order is on it's way. I'm tingling with excitement!
Game_playa @ Apr 27th 2008 1:48PM
Why do Xbots keep saying it doesn't matter!!!!. There such Ef-tards, I mean when a PS3 game doesn't look as good as the $h!t-b0x one they constanstly rub it in, So Please all the $h!tb0x fanboys please go back to your little home with all the rooms lighted with little rings.
Ranus Studios @ Apr 27th 2008 1:54PM
Stop telling me that I'm interested in games that I don't care about, you jerks! I couldn't care less about Metal Gear Solid 4 or Haze. All the games I'm interested in are multiplatform or on the 360.
For once, though, I'm getting the PS3 version of a game instead of the Xbox version. It's mostly because I've been playing GTAIII since before it was a big deal and still remember the cheats from it.
Marc B @ Apr 27th 2008 2:27PM
Playing GTAIII before it was a big deal? GTA was a big deal years before GTAIII was released. And if you're purely buying a game because you "remember the cheats", then you've got a pretty skewed reasoning for buying a game on that platform....
smkalot @ Apr 27th 2008 5:59PM
hey guys! jus wanted to lay some interesting facts out for you...
PS3 version has a mandatory install (less than 10mins), but the load times are almost non existent.
360 frequently has 30 second load times.
As for pop-in, it's supposed to be significantly less on PS3, same with framerate dips, less on PS3.

DLC? Do you really think THE game of the year GTA IV needs any more content??? Its the best thing to come in 10 years (source IGN). Its groundbreaking advancements in gaming. I really doubt it was woth 55,000,000 (might be a LOT more, not sure) that m$ dished out to pay to try to get more people to favor the 360 version, but in the end, what do you think people will want more? An awesome looking game with less hick-ups and no load times or the watered down version with half-@$$3d, paid for "unknown episodic content" which makes you wish you had a PS3 to play it on?
jus leavin my two cents is all.
Marc B @ Apr 27th 2008 6:49PM
As cool as exclusive DLC content is... Microsoft haven't really pushed it as a selling point of getting the 360 version. I've watched ads and maybe I missed the one that noted that the 360 version had extra content, but for the reported 50+million that they spent, they haven't really exploited it, so my automatic thinking is, is thats its not that spectacular.
If I had spent that much on exclusive content, I'd want the world knowing my version of the game has more in it.
Iain @ Apr 28th 2008 2:35AM
I believe we will get DLC too at some point.
Can not wait! Bought from amazon.. might have to get from wallyworld and return the amazon copy to walmart when it arrives.
DirtnSky @ Apr 28th 2008 7:20AM
Has anyone even tried the Iron Man demo that came out last week?
I tried different configurations on the controls, but could never get a good feel of it. Even worse, the main (and Often) weapon of use was on the R2 button! It tells me that I can hover -which would of made some targeting easier!- but never could stay put. It truly felt like I was flying a sprite, not an actual person with Mass. Instantly bouncing about with abandon. Or control.
If that's what to be expected in that game, I won't even rent it.
Is it possible to grow out of GTA? I played thru San Andreas to the end.. and just got tired. I even bought the first PSP game to try to capture the feeling of fun and never even got thru 2 or 3 missions before I shelved it. And the only thing I can truly notice in those many trailers where the amazing Lack of detail in regards to the background characters. The guy "holding" a hotdog or cops firing guns are hilarious since their hands are completely flat yet still.. anyway.
I might do a rent to see the beginnings without the $60 Plus Tax regret.
