JRPG Tears to Tiara gets a video, waits for an audience
Because you know you want a JRPG for your PS3, you will watch this video for Tears to Tiara, a remake of a PC title from a couple of years back. Think Fire Emblem meets Thousand Arms. We expect difficult, strategic battles mixed in with almost embarrassing dating-sim momemts. What do you guys think? Will this even land anywhere outside of Japan, or will it stay local like Agarest Senki?

I've been dying for a PS3 JRPG. Enchanted Arms has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Hopefully, this one will be savory and refreshing.

Finally a true JRPG worth noting. Maybe this will be the drizzle before the flood.

God, I hope so.
The PS2 was the king of JRPGs in the last generation. I still can't really understand why that wouldn't translate over into this generation.

I've also been waiting for a JRPG for the PS3, but didnt i read PS2 at the beginning of the trailer? Does anyone knows Japanese?
LJ @ May 2nd 2008 11:32PM
At least it also says PlayStation 3 so its coming out to the PS3 for sure.

What it says is loosely translated at this. I should forewarn you, I am not a native japanese speaker so its probably not 100% accurate. I asked my gf who is to double check the translation and she said its more or less accurate:
"From the makers/developers of 'Utawareru mono' exclusively for the playstation 2 comes a new sequel.
Followed by this on the second-set of writing about 9 seconds into the video.
"The second series of this action packed adventure, simulation-RPG will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2008(this year)"
So nothing really that special.

Well.. its good to know that is going to be released this year.
Thanks a lot man!

as far as an audience goes, most of the Fire Emblem audience left after Rekka no Ken, all the games from Sacred Stones on failed completly and didn't feel like a true Fire Emblem...there was not even challenge for god's sake!
If this game has what previous Fire Emblems had, then hell yah it will find an audience...
Kenology @ May 3rd 2008 10:27AM
Most of the Fire Emblem audience left after Rekka no Ken!? I don't think so, dude. There series still has a devoted and rabid following. SPRGs in general just aren't as popular anymore these days.
Noshino @ May 3rd 2008 3:35PM
Is still going strong because it is the only one on the genre...
Advance Wars has a complete different taste than FE, the mechanics, settings, and everything are different, the only thing they have in common is that they are both SRPG and made by the same company...
And yes, FE still has a lot of people, but many have just left the series after Rekka no ken, I know a bunch that left, I keep supporting IS, but the installments after RnK are just horrible, the challenge that the FE series is WELL KNOWN for is GONE!
I don't know if the change of difficulty of the latest games was just here in the western, but seriously, its sad to see a series like this get dumbed down so it is more appealing to casual gamers

While I don't expect a US release, I do think it looks pretty good. I think dating sim games are underrated anyway... I love games where making the right conversation choices matter.... and since it doesn't seem like we'll be getting Mass Effect, might as well have that form of gameplay the japanese way...
heckteck @ May 3rd 2008 2:13AM
hahahaha Thousand Arms i loved that game that was a truly over looked PSX game also i loved the dating sim in there..........now i feel like playing the damn game now
Kabapu @ May 3rd 2008 6:07AM
I'm still hopeful for a localization of Agarest Senki. The concept seemed interesting at least.
Kabapu @ May 3rd 2008 6:08AM
Maybe I'll just have to learn Japanese though ...
RagingStormX @ May 3rd 2008 10:17PM
As much as I love JRPG's....this one comes off as weak sauce in my standards of a must have RPG. I will keep a close eye on this to see how it turns out....as of right now I am not impressed.

that looked so bad i might cry
