Prototype delayed to mid '09

We should really be used to delays by now. Just after we showed you a crazy video for Prototype, we've gotten word that the game is going to get pushed back into April of 2009. Well, the April part isn't "official" according to Sierra, but the 2009 is. As a spokesperson for Sierra said, "in the simplest explanation possible, we need more time to deliver the game the team initially set out to create." This also brings the possibility of multiplayer back onto the table for consideration, but it hasn't been confirmed as part of the plan yet. We'll keep you informed as news unfurls.

I've watched a few vidz on GameTrailers and I think the game looks neat. I wonder what Sony's InFamous will have to offer over this......

It's probably delayed because they want to add a bunch of GTA4 features.

Seeing how they are competing with them.

I think this is going to start being a huge liability for game firms to be hyping a game and then not being able to deliver on the first (second, third, fouth, fifth...) set release date. I fully understand that games and software take time to develop, and if there is a problem with them they need to solve the problems first before they can release it, but I get tired of the fact that when a game is 5% complete the company sets a release date prediction and starts a marketing campaign and hyping up the product.
The golden rule for game designers is to have an internal delivery date and keep the game quiet or keep its hype to a minimum. If you can't meet that initial internal delivery date, then shut up about it, set a new internal date. If you can get within 6 months of your internal delivery date without having to worry about postponing it (i.e perhaps about due for final testing and a beta cycle) THEN crazy hype up the game so that when you deliver it on time your a gaming God rather then a goddamn fool.

Oh no, why the heck would they do that? This makes people want to buy the game more than anything, OK people say 'because they delayed GTA IV, I'm not going to buy it', however are they really going to miss playing the latest model of the best game franchise ever? HELL NO.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm glad finally someone is not stupid enough to say delays are for the better.

Mondo7 why are you defending them? It's people like you who make them believe that delays are okay.

If you're not sure wether they'll make the deadline. DON'T GIVE A RELEASE DATE. Simple is that. Either that or overshoot the amount of time needed because more than likely it's going to take longer than expected and if not, Then people will be happy of it being release earlier, instead of being pissed off that it's getting delayed.

With a new boss that doesn't believe in deadlines, the entire crew is looking for extra time. Who wouldn't? I'm gonna tell my boss he can stick his deadlines. Yea that'll work splendidly.

This game was supposed to come out a while ago then got delayed... then got delayed again today.... This game does not appeal to me anymore since there is going to be much MUCH!better games coming out. this new free running genre is good IMO, but they have to know how to do it RIGHT like that Mirrors edge game that is going to be SICK for all you parkour fans out there!

Whats with delays, i think sony should call thier selfs sony delay because think about it everything we knew that was going to come out has always been delayed except for some games, come on sony gety your act together, well in the meantime i guess ill be playing COD4
