Sony's David Reeves admits to PSP drought
It's been a slow time for PSP gamers. After the release of Crisis Core and God of War, things have slowed down quite dramatically for the handheld. Exclusives for the PSP are few and far apart, with releases of Secret Agent Clank and Hot Shots Golf being but a few known titles that will release in the upcoming summer months. SCEE boss David Reeves admitted that software has slowed down on PSP. "Hand on heart, would we like more PSP games? Yes, we would. We really would," Reeves told GI.biz.Where and when will we see new games? It looks like we're going to have to look towards Japan, where PSP has become something of a phenomenon. The success of PSP in Japan has created a resurgence of PSP development -- localized versions of upcoming Japanese games is what we'll have to wait for. "We've seen in the last six months that because of the success of the PSP in Japan many Japanese developers have got some absolutely phenomenal games. They're not Monster Hunter 2G or things like that, but they are in development and we'll see them over here," he added.

Why the hell dont they buy some western exclusives ? That would be great . Oh , and where the f**k is my DMC and RE game Capcom ? MHP2G should have made you enough development money for them :?

If I remember right, Ready at Dawn has stepped away from PSP now, and that's a shame, because they really rocked it. :( We definitely need some more cool stuff..

Why, is a gaming system with so much potential left in the dark?
Sony, if you honestly don't believe there is enough games coming out on the psp, grab some attention. Get developers to focus on it more.
For Instance. Call of Duty 4 and Assasins Creed would be a massive hit on PSP.
You only need to convince the developers this and you would already have 2 more big name hits for your portable console.
It's this sort of statement that makes me consider hacking my psp. So I can access more games. Maybe I should.

I agree, Assassin's Creed would be rad on the PSP, much more than the DS.
To deal with the drought, I'm playing some good games that I missed from the past. I just bought Daxter today for only 9 bucks.

This guy is an idiot. He is the head of Sony (presumably North America) and he is clueless that he is the one responsible for getting games made for the PSP. Hey idiot, why not call some companies and give them some incentives to develop for the PSP is stead of waiting for lame..I mean ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL japanese games.
matt @ May 9th 2008 2:42PM
Sorry, he is President over in Europe but he is still an idiot

Your an idiot.

I really don't understand why SCE can't put some money into getting us some more exclusive content; God of War and Crisis Core have proved that they can turn a profit.
It amazes me that Sony would turn down any opportunity to make cash and prolong the life of one of their products...
I don't want more Japanese games - I very rarely play any of them. It's the western games that I play and enjoy, so if there won't be any more of those I'll be getting rid of my PSP and wait for Microsoft to release a handheld X-Box!

Now is the time for Sony to really push out those classic PS1 games on their PSP Store front! Not another Crash Bandicoot 6...but Vagrant Story! Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy VII... etc... HELLLLO?!!

Japanese PSP games are awesome! (That's all i own and enjoy)
Western PSP (Well, western games in general) games are boring, IMO.
Bring on more japanese developed games! YEAH!!! WHAT!!! OK!!!
Dr Haisook @ May 10th 2008 3:49AM
I agree, mostly. Japanese game are usually the real deal; so creative and satisfying. Take Metal Gear Acid 2 as an example; it may seem shallow at first, but once you unlock more cards, the game will become a treat. Notable example also: Exit, Tokobot, Megaman, Riviera. Those Japanese are genius. The western games that I particularly enjoyed were Wipeout Pure and Mercury Meltdown.

thats what i dont understand. how can he sit there and say that. im sure he doesnt care about a portable device but other people do. maybe its not easy to bring of japan or western type games but something has to be done.
